Of course not... when Shepard promises Liara to always come back.. he generally means it... That also means my Shepard(s) WILL be surviving ME3 no matter what.
As for Liara's reaction to Shepard's death in ME3 after Shepard promised her to always come back? I'm really trying NOT to imagine that.

Try the 'done' dialogue option next time. It's rather good as well... I'm not quite sure which one I like better. Watched both of them about 15 times already. That scene never gets old

I chose 'Done' the first time through because I couldn't bring myself to play coy in that moment.  Turns out they're both rather coyly delivered, so it's an even split either way.

Never tried it myself since renegade responses sometimes tend to terminate the romance.

Yeesh...  Emo Shepard is emo...

I dislike chosing this path because in the cabin scene, Liara have just asked Shepard how he was actuelly doing along with giving a few words of comfort (I lost people on the suicide mission). Then when it's Shepard's turn he simply goes ahead and ruins the mood. Even if you save it by picking the upper option, Shepard ends up lying when Liara ask him to promise that he will always come back. Since Shepard have just said he honestly don't believe they will survive.

And that's why I always choose the "Happily ever after" dialog!

That, plus the fact that Shepard expresses a desire to settle down, marry, and have a lot of little blue children with Liara.

Shepard already expressed that desire. To Grunt of all people, just alot more subtle.

I'm not planning on living like this forever Grunt...

Then is all good. Shepard and Liara have their drinks

Rule of thumb for me.

Always pick the "These aren't mine anymore"

---

Everyone survived suicide mission > "I'm frustated"

Lost people on suicide mission > "I'm worried"

---

Pick upper option for dialog afterwards.

---

Pick "Happily ever after"

---

Then end with "Make me an offer"


The best version of the scene is definetly the one where you lost people on the collector base,
