Liara's reaction to the "Done" dialogue choice, in which Shepard does promise to come back, is very telling. Check it out here.

In spite of the fact that Shepard does attempt to assure her that she will survive the forthcoming Reaper war, Liara still appears concerned, anxious, distressed and sorrowful. She knows that Shepard cannot realistically make that promise, and her varying reactions to each dialogue choice serve as evidence of this.

That's...  interesting.  I've picked "Done" before, and I don't ever remember her saying "I'll always come back."  She just goes right into the "I haven't stayed dead yet" bit.  Maybe it's if you do it after the SM?

I can't believe it but... while I normally like the femshep and maleshep voice acting equally... in the cabin scene I like MaleShep better. Especially 'I'm always coming back' sounds more convincing and... well just better on a male Shepard...

Still, lovely scene. Watched it a dozen times. Will watch it a dozen times again...

I think both did a equally good job in the cabin-reunion. But Meer did have a better preformance on Azure-hotel during the aftermath.

I actually prefer Meer overall in LOTSB, besides some lines.

Alright, looks like if you pick "Done" when doing the Cabin Scene after the SM, you'll get the "I'll always come back" line.  Otherwise, Shep just leans in and says "I haven't stayed dead yet".  Minor difference, but interesting nonetheless.

Correct.

Mark Meer voices maleshep
Jennifer Hale voices femshep

You know, I think the seeds of Liara's ruthlessness in LotSB can show in ME1, if you have her and Kaidan with you when you confront Saren in the Council chambers. It might be something set in the script or a matter of which one you choose first as a squadmate.

Of course, she was shooting at this...

Liara will shoot Saren as long as you have Kaidan no matter what order you pick them in.

The way I play my femshep is that she doesn't have a home or a family. That concept of either one of those is alien to her, because her home was a colony that was attacked, and her family and friends were killed. And then her unit was killed on Akuze. And then her ship was destroyed, and her crew broke apart. etc. She never had anything to go back to. She didn't even have anyone to fight for, and wasn't committed to the Alliance. But now she does. She has Liara, who is know her family and home. She now has something to go back to.

Ugh I know. I RP as a earthborn/war hero so life in the slums did little to teach her about stability, and losing comrades and seeing civillans die on Elysium made her....distant for a brief while. She buried that Star of Terra on the SR1, and doesn't know if she wants it back....Ever.  Now she's hellbent on saving as many people of all races as she possibly can.

Losing Liara.... would break her. A 360 from paragade to pure renegade in the worst possible way. She'd grab Garrus and head right back to Omega to wreck havoc..... not good.

With that said... what would your Shep do if.... Liara died?Posted Image

The same as what yours would do.  She would go on a suicidal mission and attempt to take out as many criminals as possible.  She wouldn't feell as if she had any other purpose besides dying for the greater good.

That's... so sad :(

Glad to see our Shep's think alike... and Omega could always use some thinning out in the criminal scum department..

If Liara died...

Diana isn't violent enough to go out and start killing people. She'd be more likely to be withdrawn and depressed, and possibly rebound on Kelly/Tali/Samara (Kelly seems easiest, though).

I'd throw my ME3 disk at the wall if Liara died so there's no telling what my Shepard would do....

I suppose my Shepard would do pretty much the same. An instant turn from the light to the dark side (eg Paragon -1000/ Renegade +1000) then pretty much hunt down and utterly destroy those who killed Liara. If Shepard is still alive after that, he'll go with Zaeeds retirement plan - Buy a cargo ship full of explosives, then commit suicide near omega (or another criminal infested place, maybe even crash the ship into the citadel tower and blow it up)

Thank you so much for telling me how to get Liara to shoot him. I did it in my first playthrough ever but was never able to replicate it.

This.

Other than killing every criminal in site, I think my Shepard would lose her compassionate side and just be a Renegade.

Basically, if Liara uncontrollably dies in ME2, and if I don't snap my disc in half, I will play as a Renegade the rest of the game, taking my anger out on the galaxy. :bandit:

What my Shep would do if Liara dies depends on how many of his other close friends (Garrus, Tali, Miranda, Samara)  survives the war.

If only Liara died then he will just continue on with his career and focus on that only. He will likely not bother try to settle down again.

If Liara+a few friends got killed he would (depends on who's left) either..

- Creep into the shadows and overthrow TIM.
- Go on Omega and pull off an Archangel.
- Help rebuild earth/other homeplanets
If only Shepard survives. He might just kill himself over a bad case of survivors guilt! :o

No, definitely not.  I doubt my own Shepard would care much about living and would feel justified as long as she's doing something good in return.

I'm thinking more about grief, which can be very irrational and unfocused. While Liara wouldn't want her to needlessly throw her life away, and Shep would know that, I think she would still react.

And when I say 'react', I mean have a period of time where the lets her pain out. I feel that my Shepard would need to do something. Also, her life has been tapped by everyone and she's the only one doing anything about the Reapers. So, if Liara dies, she's basically had her life stripped and used without her consent. I think that would be the boiling point for her.

Would you still want Shepard to dramatically commit suicide even if, with her dying breath, Liara pleaded with her to live for herself, and try to enjoy a full life? Would you want Shepard to end it all, even if Liara were to request that she promise to go on without her, and move on?

One can only imagine how conflicted Shepard would feel if the above was Liara's dying wish.
