Thank you! When jtav and Marshal came out with a new chapter on the same day, I tried to wait on Marshal's chapter for a few days so I wouldn't end up going through withdrawal. I lasted about one day  Hopefully jlb will be updating soon.

Edit: You're too modest to mention you're also in the FemShep/Liara writer's club and I guess that'll teach me to pay attention to people's sigs :) I hope you'll be updating soon as well. It's great to see the emotions they're going through pre-LotSB while they're each potentially facing death at any moment and yet still afraid of just opening up to one another.

Hey friendies, I updated my FemShep/Liara fanfiction. Check it out!

Also, I don't have a beta reader yet. I finished the chapter at one o'clock this morning (obviously an excellent time to write something), and after a read through, I spotted a few small errors. So, forgive the lack of beta and please enjoy!

I'm most likely on the very small minority (in Liara fans) that actually managed to read redemption without thinking Liara was too much OOC. For me she never was on that hardened state she is when you meet her at Illium in ME2.

She acts very differently than how we got to know her in ME1, but instead of counting that as her being OOC I more or less thought she was acting that way out of grief, guilt and maybe bunch of other similar emotions thrown in to it. No one acts like themselfs under those circumstances. She is seriously pissed and I can really understand that based on her character and I can easily see her doing most of, what and how she did them in the comic.

Add to that the fact that was mentioned in this thread earlier that they had to keep her as neutral as possible to fit about every possible ME1 outcome.

Maybe it's just how I play the events in my head that makes redemption less bad for me. :? I still think art sucked, but I didn't wait much from that anyway. :)

Presenting a person's emotions in depth in a comic does have challenges. This does a nice job of it (credit to Hornhell, caution: mild female nudity). Tying Liara's actions to her underlying emotions might have required more thought bubbles/soliloquies than the audience was expected to have the patience for. For me, though, the most emotionally resonant part of the whole thing is at the end, with Liara sitting on the shuttle, looking sadly down at the disc Feron gave her and saying, "We did it...you did it."

And, like you and LizardViking mention, not knowing Liara's relationship to Shepard cuts out a lot of opportunity for that emotional exposition. Here's another example, by Jinzali. Kaidan is the VS here. This is no longer "my" ME (I saved Ash instead), but that hardly lessens the emotional impact. In fact seeing the different outcome of such a different choice just makes it more engaging.

I think I'd have just prefaced Redemption with "Your Universe May Vary (YUMV), but something very similar to this is still happening there" and then just made a choice about the relationship. Say, give Liara a secret crush on Shepard, who was unaware. That's a choice, but it should be okay even with people who didn't romance her, and now she has a strong and understandable emotional investment in finding Shepard's body, which illuminates every action she takes.

I love that fanart. It's quite moving and can easily be applied to my canon-Shepard which is a nice bonus! B)

As for the rest you said. Even if they couldn't fully explore Liara's motivations and feelings regarding Shepard. I still feel they could have less pages just dedicated to action.

That fan art really captures on how I believe everyone should act like especially Liara seeing how my conon-shep is in love with her, she seems like the only one to really be crying though. I think Garrus has a soft spot for Shepard. It looks like the fan art would be shown in my me2 game, everything i did in that game are there as well. poor Ashley, i had to pick someone and i really disliked her at the time...

Who else let Wrex live? i didn't really like him but he's okay.

Nice fan art. Too bad Liara's putting on a show, and not telling anyone that Shepard's body is currently being turned into the Terminator by Cerberus.

I suppose she doesn't want to raise false hopes ;)

I need to kick myself in the pants and update mine in the next few days.  I've been slacking :pinched:

Yeah, that comic by Hornell (one of my faves) did a great job showing off Shepard's emotion (anger, frustration, sadness, and then her love for Liara) in a few panels.  Also, I agree that some parts of Redemption did a good job as well.

I guess I don't think Redemption was a complete failure

I just wish some parts involving Liara were a bit better.  I understand what Vral said above, that grief changes people...but I just don't see Liara acting like a moody teen ever.  I can see her more prone to anger but not go as far as tossing batarians against the wall for hitting on her.

I think some people believe that anyway....heck, some think Liara tried to ninja-kiss their Shepard (un-romanced) during LotSB

I support - nay, demand! - Ninja!Liara in ME3.  Imagine it ... Shepard, going about her business on the Normandy.  A flash of light, and a billow of smoke.  Liara steps out, grabs Shepard, and kisses her deeply.  Passionately.  As Shepard recovers, another flash of light and billow of smoke, and Liara is gone.

Did Shepard imagine it?  If not, how did Liara do it?  How did she get onto the CIC of the Normandy from her base on Hagalaz?  No one will ever know.  She's a ninja.  A brilliant ... blue ... ninja. Posted Image

EDIT to put in the far more appropriate blue ninja smiley from jlb's post - thank you ... I was wishing I knew where to find one when I posted this ...

Uhh ... assuming you mean "flipping the bird", then no, probably not.  To play it safe, though, you could always just post a link with a "Liara flips someone off - so if you find that offensive, don't click it" disclaimer.

She might have picked up that bad habit from Shepard. :D Since I can see Shep doing that.

Anyway. I didn't think that as moody teen moment when she tossed the batarians. It was more like, Let's see if I can explain this right. Liara is really focused on what's she's doing and she is already testy because suns attacked her and Feron had lied to her. Normally I wouldn't think she would toss people who try to hit on her against the wall, but she's on her own, more or less and she knows that Shepard's body is on the hands of the suns and that they are going to hand it to collectors. She doesn't have time for interruptions and that, not so subtle hitting on her from the batarians was just enough.

Well, that's how I read the thing anyways.

I didn't see it as they were 'hitting on her', more like they were thinking "hurr hurr, we've got guns and you've got a purdy mouth".  I think she saw it as an impending attack.

Not only that, but he did grab her, and probably did some groping. I'd say she reached her limit.

I just think Liara would have at least tried to reason with the batarian before throwing him against the wall.

I agree and not only she don't have time but she also didin't had much time do deal with everything that was happening knowing for sure that Shepard was dead and that was going to be sold to the collectors I imagine that Liara was having difficulty geting out of her mind the idea of the collectors doing to Shepard what Soverign did to Saren body, I think that Liara reaction was not normal for her but she was in a situation that was very difficult and everything but normal.
