Her info broker business is public. She has a sweet office. Presumably, this means she's not hard to find (extranet site, advertising, etc). It's implausible in the extreme that the Council's agents would have any trouble finding her if they cared. If they didn't question her, it's probably more a "she's not human, so she can't have any ties to Cerberus; if we want her to look into Cerberus we can just hire her" thing.

It wouldn't make sense for the council/alliance NOT to question her. Atleast if she was romanced, because then she might have a reason to still be connected to Shepard.

If we assume that the Citadel/Alliance did contact her, the real question is what would she have told them?

Lied I guess. Perhaps because telling the truth could get her into serious trouble, and worse, endanger the Lazarus-project.

Yeah, it's a beast. I didn't think I would ever get that chapter finished.

The next chapter will be fun, though :)

Yeah, so I think Benezia would try to 'butt in' like all parents would, but ultimately would leave Liara alone after receiving a few nasty looks :P

...

Exactly!

I'm now imagining Benezia as a meddlesome old woman who thinks that she knows what's best for her daughter, and constantly "advises" her accordingly.

I'm imagining Marina Sirtis outtakes where she wonders where this sense of deja vu came from. ;)

I would pay to see this. :o

Well done to you for finishing that chapter... it doesn't seem like writing it would have been easy.

I finished a short story about Shepard and Liara, but now I have to wait for two days before I can upload the thing. Oh well.

I just posted it on my blog here while I waited. Although you miss out on seeing your visitor/page view count that way (which quickly becomes addictive).

Ah, thank you.

It's a short story that I wrote mostly for the sake of having something written because all of my other stories were blocked, and also for practice (and incidentally ended up finalizing my canon Shepard's class; Sentinel). But it felt good to have something done.

This is great. Both of them are in character and your writing style is smooth. This feels like it fits right in at the end of the ME1 story. Looking forward to reading some of your other stories.

That was really good.  A nice little snippet on how Liara and Shepard spent their time post-Citadel battle.

I have to agree that writing about your Shepard is a great way of finalizing a canon class...It toom me forever to do that with mine.

Yay! Thanks!

Just as soon as I figure out what my next story is going to be, I'll get right on it.

Thanks again. For a while, I thought her class was Vanguard, and I kept going back and forth between that, Adept and Sentinel; I've decided that she's a Sentinel canonically, but I play her as a Vanguard in in ME1 and change it for ME2 (because Liara isn't very useful to a Sentinel in ME1 and I want to have her around at all times).

You don't think Liara is good with a Sentinel?...I think Liara is useful for any class in ME1. I take her with me 100% of the time, regardless. XD

I even take here with me on the moon mission involving the rogue Alliance VI even though she's probably the absolute worst squad mate for that mission, given all the drones.

Well, I've never actually played as a Sentinel. It's just that the ME wiki said she wasn't.

I did have to leave her behind for the drone mission, taking Tali and Garrus, because I kept getting killed otherwise.

Really?   I find it odd then that whoever wrote that Wiki article thinks the Sentinel is bad with Liara but the Vanguard isn't, given that those classes have a lot of overlap.

I don't pay attention much to squad make-up in ME1.  With Liara, she's basically really good at throwing people around (the best in the squad, actually) so I think any Shepard class can take advantage of that.

Fair enough. When I get the game again, I may try that out.

Now comes the question of whether or not I feel ambitious enough to try an AU where Shepard doesn't die. And if I do, what to do with Liara, because I love her becoming the Shadow Broker.

Liara could still become the Shadow Broker in that AU...you will have to be quite inventive though. You would need to develop an entire new plot-line to explain why/how she got into the information business and eventually decided to take on the Shadow Broker, minus the Collectors/Feron/Shepard's body thing.

Especially since she'd probably want to stay in Shepard's squad. Although I'm starting to think that I might have another idea for what to do...

The ME wiki is categorically wrong about squad make-up in ME1, it's operating under the assumption that ME1's combat system isn't broken which it is. Biotics are so much stronger and so much more useful than Tech or Combat that you probably want to stack it as much as possible and not even bother trying for the balanced squad configuration.

There is only one enemy type in the game which isn't weak to Biotics and those are flying drones, other than that always take Liara even if you're playing an Adept that way you'll be able to spam Singularity and kick the crap out of everyone and everything.

Ooh, so maybe I can use Liara and Wrex instead of Garrus, even. I'll make sure to try that out.

Liara would want to stay in Shepards squad, and I don't see her leaving unless necessary.  The only reason she would leave is if her brain and talents for deduction are needed elsewhere.

Indeed, and if what I've figured out now is the truth, she won't have to (unless she does become the Shadow Broker, which would make traveling with Shepard a bit difficult).
