Ah, thank you.

http://social.biowar...542/blog/13493/

It's a short story that I wrote mostly for the sake of having something written because all of my other stories were blocked, and also for practice (and incidentally ended up finalizing my canon Shepard's class; Sentinel). But it felt good to have something done.

That was excellent, Xilizhra. I really enjoyed it, and think it's quite an interesting look at how events may have panned out in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of the Citadel. I think Liara's comments about Shepard's determination are an accurate reflection of what she says at the end of the locker scene, in which she says that she believes in Shepard.

Nice work!

Liara would want to stay in Shepards squad, and I don't see her leaving unless necessary.  The only reason she would leave is if her brain and talents for deduction are needed elsewhere.

Agreed, and this is relevant and applicable to Liara's current status as the Shadow Broker. Whilst she would obviously love to rejoin the Normandy's crew, Liara recognises that the Shadow Broker network is far too valuable to simply discard.

Speaking of the Shadow Broker, I've just realised something. In the retail version of ME2, Liara states that one of the reasons as to why she's hunting the Shadow Broker is to determine if he is working for the Collectors, and, by proxy, the Reapers.

Do you think that Liara recognised the Shadow Broker as a threat to galactic stability, and wished to ascertain as to whether it was necessary to stop him? I ask this because, upon hearing that Feron is alive, Liara seems to drop her plans to kill the Shadow Broker completely. At that point, her quest becomes a rescue mission, as she herself states.

It's possible, though it's hard to imagine the Shadow Broker, the ultimate force of neutrality and balance in the galaxy, as being a threat to it; of course, pursuing the Collector connection would have been prudent.

But I think that she thought that Feron was always more important, especially since Shepard was dealing with whatever the Shadow Broker had allied with.

Also, thanks for your kind words as well, LET.

I don't know, it's more likely at least to me that the majority of the revenge plot they had going in ME2 was just a symptom of templated writing. Mac Walters really seems to like revenege sub-plots, though not nearly as much as he likes Daddy Issues. So a move that starts as a bit of an overstep of her character (Revenge for simplisitic and unclear reasons) gets patched up by being turned into a rescue mission.

Liara working against the Reapers and trying to ferret out their agents is perfectly in character for Liara post ME1 where she's the only other person besides Shepard who has actually seen the Prothean's warning. However that was never the original intent of the writers, they were operating on a much more simplistic and stupid level.

Mainly that she had to get non-descript revenge for an ancillary / expanded universe character she had just met and should reasonably have no real strong attachement to.

Have you people realized that you are basically dating a Bond villain.

I half expect my next trip to the Shadow Broker to involve a man in a tuxedo strapped spredeagled on a table with a laser moving towards his crotch while Liara stands nearby stroking a cat and cackling menacingly. Meanwhile Feron is sharpening his blower hat

Bond: Do you expect me to die?

Liara: No Mr. Bond I expect you to escape after which I will fillet you with my mind

Shep: Hey James! It's me Shep! I'm surprised you have met my GF

Bond: Your're kidding me right?

Maybe...this scenario is far more likely and appealing, though. :wizard:

I can't believe you think that this is some kind of a minus.

I think you are confused, Confused_Shepard. Liara is Shepard'a ally, everything in game says so. She will most likely be crucial to stopping the Repears in ME3. She is no Dr. Evil;)

I kind of miss Liara's innocent personality from ME1, I was kind of shocked in ME2 at her personality change and even more so in LOTSB

On the contrary it's quite refreshing to work for a Shadow Organization that is a positive force
The Assassin's from Assassin's Creed are also similar.

And here is our srious answer. I meant Bond Villain in a good/humorous way
I mean c'mon. After all the crying and stuff she deserves to have some fun

I see it as an upgrade personally. She went from Tali esque innocent to a more Miranda esque cold and calculating. But she's still the same sweet girl inside. Kind of like Jack. So she's a composite of the other 3 LI's... ahaha.

Still would be an improvement over working with TIM and Cerberus.

That's kind of hot.

Plus, James Bond is a tool, so I totally approve of this scenario.

He failed his Spectre application.

"Ah yes! James Bond. A secret agent working for MI6.. Oh, we have dismissed that claim."

Everything.

You don't like Bond? Not even the new version?

Anyways, Liara isn't a bond villian. The Shadow Broker definitely was, which I hated. It's why I wish there was more too his character then being a "villain".

The old SB wasn't exactly twirling his moustache here. Liara was trying to kill him, and he was trying to make himself useful to the Collectors (c.f. Saren). He kinda didn't want to die. Too arrogant to realize he'd "outlive his usefulness," but not exactly betraying the galaxy for the evulz.

Of course, he still had to go, and so we have Liara managing the galaxy's largest information network for the one man who can put it all back together...oops, sorry, really jonesing for DA2. Posted Image Still, I hope I can get her to blow the place up once we put the Reapers down so we can live Tomb-Raidery ever after. Posted Image

I'm more of talking about the "Ah, Dr. T'soni. I see you're here to ruin my plans. How reckless. But enough talk. I have the upper hand here, and I'm better then you. And that's all I have to add." The only thing missing is an evil laugh.

How powerful are Liara's biotics, exactly?

I know that in-game stats aren't great things to extrapolate from, but two things we can be sure Liara is skilled with are Singularity and Stasis, the latter of which seems to be a rare skill. We also know that she's capable of singlehandedly defeating multiple dig-site raiders.
