How powerful are Liara's biotics, exactly?

I know that in-game stats aren't great things to extrapolate from, but two things we can be sure Liara is skilled with are Singularity and Stasis, the latter of which seems to be a rare skill. We also know that she's capable of singlehandedly defeating multiple dig-site raiders.

I base things based off what we've seen so far. Can Liara stop a car like Samara? No.

I would rank them in this order (storywise)...

#1 Samara, Morinth and Jack (three YMIR's...impressive)
#2 Liara (comic and SB fight)
#3 Miranda, Wrex

I never thought Jack was more powerful than Liara, but I guess that's debatable.

Well, I'm not positive that Liara could punch three Ymirs to death (drop them off a cliff with much less effort, on the other hand, I can totally see).

I guess it also depends on how you define 'biotic power'.

How are you defining it?

A combination of endurance/skill/raw force.

Perhaps Jack can produce a stronger mass effect field (more raw force) but I think when considering the other areas, Liara is the better biotic.

Jack lacks shear control, her powers are based completely in rage.

Rarely does 4chan come up with anything smart, but it did point out a curious inconsistency regarding Liara's knowledge, that seemed a little too silly to be anything other than a mistake on part of the writers - On Noveria, Liara says she doesn't recognize the rachni, one of the most historically-significant species in the galaxy, but she does recognize a yahg (the ass-pull species)?  Liara's a learned individual, so something's up with that.

The rachni are supposed to be extinct. I think she dismissed the possibility of them being rachni until she learned otherwise.

Well, Liara's biotics aren't causing steady neural degeneration, I'll give her that much.

That doesn't mean pictures of them wouldn't exist.  We have drawings of dodos, and they're long gone.

If you saw a dodo on the street somewhere, would immediately go "Oh, hey, that's a dodo back from the dead!"?

Well, Bond is sort of a douchebag.

But he's our douchebag.

(Is from England.)

He's a much more real person in the books (especially You Only Live Twice). He sometimes shows a condescending attitude toward women that's just embarassing to read, but it seems to be more a reflection of the period (50s/early 60s). But he feels guilt over the people he's killed, depression over the mistakes he's made, and does not always get the girl (in some cases tragically so, which definitely impacts him).

Sure would, because of its significance.  Considering the historical significance of the rachni to the galaxy, you'd think that the rachni would be instantly recognizable, especially for Liara, who has background as a historian.

Can she maintain the biotic field in the Collector base? My initial thought was no, but she might be up to it.

Shepard asks her how she knew he was a Yahg.  She responded that she didn't know, but had made a guess.  It was a species that she didn't recognize, meaning it had to be a pre-spaceflight species.  There had to be only a handful that would have had the intelligence to run a network like the Shadow Broker's, so she narrowed it down to the Yahg.  The ship was older than the discovery of their species, from which she was able to surmise that he wasn't the FIRST Shadow Broker, etc. etc.

That's right...  The Shadow Broker just got scientist'd!  *boom!*

Canon Liara would have obviously recognized rachni, but for the sake of gameplay and your SURPRISE! Bioware couldn't have her spoil the identity of the creatures.

My in game justification is that she ruled out rachni as a possibility because they are most certainly extinct.

Personally, I believe that she could. She's an adept, after all.

I think she can. But not because she's an "Adept". Adept is just a label for gameplay purposes
You can say Jack and Jacob are Vanguards. Jack can maintain the bubble, Jacob can't....

Whatever the reasons are as to why someone can maintain that field, they have little to do with the gameplay classes we can assign to them, IMO
