Yeah, that's usually my route too.

I once heard someone say something about leaving Noveria for last. Does that affect the conversation at all?

I don't believe it affects the conversation at all, but in my last pt I did Noveria last, since it makes the most sense (Saren has the coordinates for the Mu relay! Hurry!)

In my mind it works best as:
1. Therum (Hi, I'm Liara!)
2. Feros (Shiala! Fancy seeing you here!)
3. Virmire (Sorry Kaidan, you were a good kid)
4. Noveria (Mom! Stop embarrassing me!)

I really like the idea of doing Therum/Feros/Virmire/Noveria. My last ME2 playthrough, I did LoTSB mission before the omega4, but talked to liara after.

Worked out really well. I think I'm going to take some more advice and do Therum/Feros/Virmire/Noveria next time. Just have to finish off this solder run (no liaramance either, feh, wanted to do a nomance import for me3).

I still haven't deviated from the Prima Pattern (Therum --> Noveria --> Feros --> Virmire). As a result I have the awkward issue of trying to console Liara right before she informs me how interested she is in me.

This is what head-canon is for, though. Imagining that there's a lot more space between those convos.

Still, I'd rather be most leveled by Virmire... maybe Feros second, Noveria third, and always, ALWAYS, shut down Kaidan as soon as possible and don't mind how rude it is. (Okay, if I ever do "Mass Effect Parody" this is a perfect place to nitpick! ... it's kind of essential.)

I always do LotSB before the SM but wait to do the cabin scene until after I get back. The way I figure, my Shepard would at some point pre-SM decide to try and help out Liara, and seek out Cerberus' assistance. Then, once the Shadow Broker is dead (gasp! spoiler alert!), she'll want their "date" to be the thing she's fighting for, and will put it off until the Collectors are defeated.

Kinda cheesy, but I think it works.

Actually, that makes a lot of sense... and it means I can use the in-game bonuses of LotSB for my own earlier benefit as well.

I think you can do a bunch of other quests pre-Noveria to trigger her second dialog, so it doesn't play right after Noveria...or, just console her and then skip the rest of the dialog and save it until after a few missions.

Yes, Liara explains a bit about the Mu Relay on the Normandy...pretty much the same thing Benezia tells you if you don't finish Noveria last.

Okay, I know that my Shepard was gone for over 2 years and Liara had every right to move on or at least find comfort in another place ... but, everytime my Liara romanced Shepard goes through her apartment in LotSB, I can't help but go "What the ....?" at the two empty wine glasses on the counter. Who was she drinking wine with?

Then when the SB says "I know your every secret, while you fumble in the dark.” My Shepard remembers the wine glasses and thinks that the SB is directing this at her. Before I can say, "What secret? What fumbling?" my little Asari shuts the yahg down and the fight starts.

I think my little friend may have her own secrets that she doesn't want me to know. Maybe that potty mouth Matriarch Aethyta isn't her mother but something else. Hmmm? I'll crack that photo over her head ... but if she is Liara's father then oops! Sorry!

I always thought Liara looked more like Aria T'Loak and seeing Benezia with the Krogan fathered asari doesn't fit. Benezia and Aria made more sense to me. But love does make strange bedfellows so who knows.

Just a thought.

If you notice there are two wine glasses (all the time) in Shepard's cabin. I think BioWare just uses the wine glasses as a prop. Alternatively, in a beta version of the LoTSB DLC, maybe bioware planned to have the cabin scene at liara's apartment.

The glasses were prepared for her and Shepard to share before a sniper started shooting at her. He was suppose to meet her after all that night.

And the secret could be that she left Feron to get captured for a corpse. Or that she killed many people in her hunt. Or that he know who her father is.

Oh that one sent a little chill down my spine.  I can only imagine a fleeting sense of relief that she feels, thinking that things just might be getting back to whatever passes for normal between the two of them...

And then she gets shot.

Damnit Vasir!  You are totally ruining the moment with your whole "killing me" thing...

And I figured she was shot, rather than just shot at, since Vasir mentioned the "sniper" hadn't counted on Liara's barrier.

Ok, I would love to think that she was setting up a nice romantic get together but that is not the case. She saw Tali & Grunt with Shephard and unless she planned on making them wait in the stairwell I'm thinking that those glasses were from a previous night ... unless she is a double fisted drinker. My Shephard is starting to get worried - strike that, scared of the direction Liara is headed and feels that she has some secrets.

Liara is letting her desires drive some of her decisions and will do anything to meet her goals. Maybe she used everything at her disposal to acquire information and that is one of the things that she does not want Shephard to know. Here are a few things that make Shep raise an eyebrow .....

1) When Liara was asked how Asari's deal with short-span life partners she waxed poetic about how they had reached a higher level of "acceptance" and that they felt that their deceased partner was still with them. Cut to Shep being stir fried in space resulting in Liara handing her partner over to Cerebrus where Shep could have been chip implanted, zombie state, wetting on oneself and drool impaired. Liara tried to tell herself that it was for the greater good but finally had to admit that she could not let Shep go ... This is not a normal Asari trait. Next time my Shep dies Liara is going to buy duct tape, stapler and crazy glue. God help my Shep.

2) Liara now not only puts innocent people in dangerous places but also lies to do so ... See Sekat. He asks if he should be worried and she skirts the question. Later she even admits that she would do it again. The end justifies the means? Once again, duct tape, stapler and crazy glue.

3) Human Shep falls out a window that seems to knock her out. Does Liara stop the chase and see if her gal pal is okay? Nope. She is focused on killing that spectre who called her a "pureblood" and has an item that she wants. Shephard has made herself a note that reads: "never, ever call Li pureblood, even in jest or play hide the prothean stone. Would need duct tape, stapler & crazy glue."

4) The drive that Liara has to KILL the Shadow Broker seems off. Yes, he tried to sell Sheps body and may have killed her double crossing friend, but Saren not only killed a comrade but was responsible for her mother's indoctrination & death and she still wanted to stay and have tea with Vigil when they were on the trail of Saren. So I think the SB may have had info that Liara really did not want exposed. Something even worse than killing her mother? Hmmmm, something is missing here.

5) Her comment about being able to start a war and the fact that she won't come with Shep, even when she asks her to, because she wants to help Shep with information .... hmmm, Liara must have more reasons. Or maybe I am just adding more layers than is there and she is only wanting to help me ... as she runs her hand across the console and repeats that she has so much power that she could start a war in minutes if she desires.

Yep, Shep is concerned that Liara is teetering between light and dark. Liara is only 10 in her Asari years and without her mother this may end ugly. So my Shep has purchased duct tape, stapler & crazy glue ... especially since the 2 wine glasses in her bedroom are from the last "therapy session" with Kelly Chambers.

That dim-witted yeoman may be the death of my Shephard if Liara finds out. Crap!

I personally want to see the VS in the upcoming DLC but I was also hoping Liara to possibly be a squadmate or play a big part do y'all think there is a chance of both happening or one or the other?

I find it interesting that so many players that romance Liara do it with a FShep.

In my main playthrough, I did so with a MShep. And as some have mentioned, she's like his rock, his anchor of stability. Someone he can talk to without telling nice stories about how he's going to beat the collectors and the reapers, no problem.

Much as I'd like it, I'm beginning to lose hope that the VS will play anything more than a cursory role (if that) in Arrival. Certainly nothing on the order of Liara's role in LotSB. I also highly doubt that Liara will appear in anything more than an email in Arrival, given the nature of DLC (one could theoretically not have LotSB and still play through Arrival, in which case Liara would still be on Illium instead of Hagalaz)

I didn't think about the fact that people didn't play LotSB because it is such a great DLC. I would be really sad if we don't see any of the old ME1 squadmates in the upcoming DLC. I was just thinking that it would be hard to have a DLC about the Reaper's Arival and not encompass all of the squadmates of the ME universe.

Yeah, it's definitely a possibility that they'll include the VS, especially since it's taking place in Alliance space.  I just doubt they'll be featured anywhere near as much as Liara was in LotSB.  It certainly would be a nice way to wrap things up.

My Sheploo died a little inside when this happened:

Posted Image

Of course, he hugged her afterwards :)  He wanted her to know that everything she had been through had been worth it, and she'd held on, persevered until finally it was over.

He also swore that those eyes would never shed another tear again.

It's funny but I hadn't planned on having my FShep romancing Liara, but Kaidan Alenko was too much work for my gal (Could you just speak plain english?!) while Liara was like an open book. My Paragon MShep also gravitated towards her because Ash was too much "Soldier". He needed someone who was soft, whispered and trusted completely in him. My Renegade MShep hooked on to Ash and liked the boudoir battle. My Renegade FShep still hasn't found what she is looking for.

Some for the voice of Meer, it's terrible to others around here. Some because the Liara lovers are mostly female, at least the un-silent ones are, see it like this you are a male so most likely you are going to play as a male, but that is not always the case. Also others find it a little strange how a man could love a woman if she has no penetrative area on their body. I officially use Mshep (not sheploo he's the worst) and Liara as a romance option, and I could care less that she has no "part" for a male, it's not about sex.

I just never viewed that as a problem.  When melded, their nervous systems are one.  If physical pleasure is the goal, I imagine Liara can make him feel it....probably more intensely than he ever has before.

I've something I've been wondering on for the past few days.

Was it Benezia that gave Liara her name when she was born, or was it Aethyta? It wasn't specified if Benezia and Aethyta's separation took place before or after Liara's birth. My gut is telling me it was after.

If so, then I think it would be interesting if it turned out it was Aethyta that gave Liara her name. Now that I'm thinking about it, there is a lot of ground to cover regarding Aethyta's past relationship with Benezia that could use some exposition. I was generally of the mind that it was entirely unneeded for the issue of Liara's absentee parent to be brought up again, but now I'm reevaluating that stance.
