But yeah, I'm happy we got the DLC for her.  Though, I feel awful b/c it seems Ash/Kaidan won't get the same :crying:

Me too, but I doubt they could have done a DLC that would have done BOTH characters justice.  They just damn well better do the VS relationship justice in ME3!

at least we know the dev team likes Liara as much as we do lol. Gives me constant hope it will be done right.

Very true. With Liara being given this much attention, it would be downright shamefull not to give her a proper ending in ME3. Unfortunately we'll still have to wait like 9 months before we get to see it. I'm not really worried though. I'm convinced we'll get a satisfying and proper end of Shepard and Liara's story in ME3.

We damn well better :L... BioWare said that she did not have a big role in ME2 becuase they could not risk her dying in the Suicide Mission, and this is becuase she will have a very large role in ME3 (same wih the VS)... :)

Yes! Exactly ^_^

Honestly, 'rescuing' Liara didn't bother me that much. She got herself trapped in what I felt was an endearingly klutzy manner, which befits her character when we first meet her. As for 'saving' her, well, we 'save' damn near every member of the crew at one point or another. Tali in the Wards (and again on Haestrom), Garrus on Omega, Ashley on Eden Prime. Not every recruitment mission can be as easy and straight-forward as Zaeed's.

Agree 100%...=]

Almost everyone has been rescued at some point. But when it comes down to it, most of the squadmates weren't cowering in the corner. Tali (in ME1) is fighting, Garrus is kicking ass, etc. I don't mind pulling Liara out of the stasis field (however, I really want to know why Shepard is just able to whack some buttons on the panel and have Liara drop out unharmed. If the person who's been studying Prothean tech for the last 50 years screwed up, how is Shepard going to handle it?). I don't like how she's cowering in front of that Krogan and depending on Shepard to save her.

One of the things in my earlier post was that I see Liara and Shepard as being equals. I think that the relationship has an excellent balance to it. Liara clearly respects Shepard, however, it's a two way street. The writing is such that it's obvious how much Shepard trusts Liara.

My first impression of Liara was pulling her out of Therum (classic damsel in distress), after which she promptly fainted on board the ship. I can understand that she's not at full fighting capacity after spending days without food or water. However, I think that the fainting is just too much.

Of course, those issues were all hammered out in LoTSB. However, I don't think that nervous Liara is dead and buried. She shows some moments of vulnerability in LoTSB, right after she sends out the transmission. I see her as switching between 'badass mode'--which is the entirety of the Azure sequence, and 'actual Liara mode' which is just when she's talking to shepard.

just grown to be afraid of that 'EA' tag, it tends to -ruin- sequels.
While the gameplay was better for ME2 imho, the story was better in ME1.
I'm just afraid they'll turn it into pure shooter territory. Ah well.
If I had my way we'd be able to take Liara as a Squad Mate, and give her
different armor if we wanted to, and customize that armor, along with
her guns ;)

I get your sentiment, although I really like Liara's LoTSB armor. There is just something about that waistcoat I think is totally awesome. I wish Shepard could borrow it from Liara. I mean Liara does have that purple dress, she could wear that around the shadow broker base and then I could take out the waistcoat on missions.

I also like how she actually wears clothes!

Yeah they really have their work cut out for them with Mass Effect III. I like to think they will manage to bring it all out but of course they wont please everyone. So many different routes they must take in order to fill the events that took place in Mass Effect I and II, can only hope they manage to pull it all off without further taking from the game. Mass Effect I and II are both great games, ME I had better Story, but I did enjoy the play of Mass Effect II more so. If they can balance the two and fit everything from the two games into Mass Effect III that would be amazing. I have high expectations for the game, and I think they will pull i t off. Liara however I don't think any of us should worry about her since we can honestly say she is going to have an important role in ME III. Lets just hope its what we all want.

I'm fully confident Liara will have a large role in ME3.

Generally, Liara's job is to push the plot forward.

ME1 -> Liara puts 2 and 2 together to get Ilos
ME2 -> Liara recovers Shepard's body, thus setting the events of ME2 into motion

Liara is the only unkillable squadmate in the series because she is directly responsible for pushing the plot forward. However, she doesn't get as much backstory as the rest of the cast. For instance, most of her dialogue in ME1 was either a. plotline or b. romance dialogue.

What we keep coming back to here is Lair of the Shadow Broker. Best 10$ I've spent in a while -- every concern I have ever had about Liara's characterization has been dealt with. They managed to explain those conversations we had in vanilla ME2.

I think I need to replay LoTSB (in anticipation for Arrival) again.

Slightly dark question:

When Liara becomes the new Shadow Broker, she comes up to Shepard's ship for wine and conversation. She then gives him/her back his/her old dog tags. She claims that she got them from Admiral Hackett. Does anyone think that she may have put a tracking device in the tags? Either to keep tags on Shepard, or simply in the event that the SR2 got lost?

Considering Liara is the new shadow broker, probably not. If she can start a war she can keep tabs on Shep.
Although I'd like to think considering I stayed faithful in my canon playthrough she'd trust Shep enough not to resort to tracking devices.

I think it'd cause tension between them; the lack of trust shown in doing something like that, what do you think?

Yes lol I remember those conversations way back when on here. Was money well spent, and it likewise layed to rest every concern I had since day one.

Liara has no need for a tracking device because she already has spies on the New Normandy, if Shep is with someone else now, then Liara will call them on it, and be all 'I am a very good information broker Shephard!' so she doesn't need something so crude. Also, she obviously has fingers into Cerberus as well, look at the information she digs up FROM THE SHIP. Hell she even has video of Jacob doing situps heh.

Being the new Shadow Broker, she will probably be the new quest giver as well :) I think she will be the quest giver at the beginning, then something will happen to the Shadow Broker base or something, then she rejoins our crew :)

I don't think The Illusive Man will be our quest giver anymore, especially if you took the Paragon route...

Read the book Mass Effect: Retribution
Then it'll be clear TIM won't be our quest giver in ME3. Like you said Liara is a much more likely candidate, but after arrival DLC it might as well be the alliance again. Still I prefer hearing Liara's voice before every single assignment and mission (even though Admiral Hackett is really cool as well)

I will read the book :)

If he re-joined the Alliance, that would explain why hes wearing N7 armour in the trailer, and why it says "Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine"... on the Mass Effect 3 description....

I liked it, the cut at the end for suspense is a good teaser moment. Maybe a tad too brief with the Liara cut but still good. How long did you spend on it? And how did you do the extra Harbinger dialogue? Or did I miss something?

The trailer was pretty nice, to my personal taste I think you overdid it a little with harbinger's dialogue (it felt more like a harbinger tribute trailer in the beginning) but overall it was well made.

@Fiddles

There's A LOT of Harbinger dialogue that normally won't be heard in the game (possibly unless you fight him in game and REALLY drag out the battle for a very, very long time). To see just how much of Harbinger's dialogue was recorded: http://masseffect.wi...)/Battle_Quotes

I suppose I did use a lot of Harbinger Dialogue, I originally used Sovereign dialogue as well, but Harbinger's was clearer with the music... The trailer is called "Stop Harbinger" btw :L and it says it at the end, that was my explanation for putting so muh dialogue in :L... Try watching this one:

You preferred the second trailer then? :L

I suppose it is shorter too, so it doesn't drag on :L

Can't wait to see it Posted Image

One day I hope to bring something to this thread by making a tribute vid. (I play violin so hoping to put my own music to it)

I liked the second video better probably because told the story of Mass Effect whereas the first one was reminding me there are several months between now and the release of ME3. The first was all about the tension, which was done well.

Yeah, I made the "Stop Harbinger" trailer mainly about the need to stop the reapers, the "Save The Galaxy" trailer was more telling the story as you said :)... I do have one other trailer which I made, it's on my Utube Channel, but I don't like it as much as the others :\\
