I'd rather her be a squadmate :P

That should come in the second half of the game so we can utilise Liara's excellent broker skills first. :P

I reckon that something will happen to the Shadow Broker base (maybe it's attacked?) some time in the game, then she will become a squadmate :)

That would be interesting. And Shepard has to swoop in to the rescue.

However, I think I'd prefer to see the roles reversed. Shepard finds herself in a spot of bother (perhaps captured) and Liara abandons her duties as the Shadow Broker to go off and save her. Afterwards, she realises she needs to be by the Commander's side.

That'd be really cute, but with Liara at my side I'd be constantly worried something might happen to her (Won't settle for anything less than Shepard and Liara - Happily ever after ending) and that would make playing the game a nightmare.

Anyways... are you sure it's a good idea to mount yet another rescue? Shepard rescued Liara and in reverse so..  do we really need all that again?

Of course, would could be more fun than watching them so invested in saving the other? :P

But I don't see it happening. It would probably be repetitive. Then again, we don't actually see Liara rescuing Shepard's body in the games so I call loop hole on that!

After arrival I think it is safe to say that my Shepard might soon call for Liara's aid again in ME3. Either to get the best lawyers in the galaxy or to get him out of jail!

I wonder who would make a good lawyer out of the Mass Effect characters we're aware of. >.>

The turian councilor. He will just dismiss all the evidence laid against Shepard.

I definitely think that a) Liara will be the 'quest giver' for the first portion of ME3, and B) something will happen to the Shadow Broker base and Liara will become a squadmate for the remainder of the game. I don't necessarily think that Shepard will have to 'swoop in and save' Liara at this point. I imagine that she'd be able to get herself out of trouble should the need arise.

My headcanon Shepard would rather have Liara by her side, but the amount of good that Liara can do as the Shadow Broker far outweighs the need for her to be close by. She definitely worries about leaving her by herself halfway across the galaxy, though.

The Reapers might realize the change in the shadow broker from the old one. They more than likely know who Liara is since of their interest in Shepard. This might make her a high priority target. Maybe they later find the base and come after her trying to get to shepard.. this would give her leave to join the squad in the end.

I doubt BioWare will ever kill Liara, not after all the effort they have put into her character development.. But if Shep and Liara don't have a happy ending all I can say is "BioWare can't hide forever... And when they slip up, I'll be there" :L yeah so "I fractured my thumb on the mute but I think I made my point" haha :P I'm going quote-crazy :)

Is it just me that thinks Shepard can't possibly live to the end of Mass Effect 3? >.>

If that does happen, I think I'd want a touching scene between her and Liara at the end before the inevitable death. I'm a sucker for tragic endings as well as happy endings. D:

You're not the only one who thinks/is afraid of that.  Much as I want Shepard to survive ME3, I have a big fear that EA will try and force another Shepard game down our throats, and I don't know that they'd do it anywhere near as well as has been done so far, and I'm afraid that the only way to get around that is to make sure he/she doesn't survive.

But I'll be damned if I don't get me a bondmate ceremony at the end of ME3!

Yeah, I'd rather end the series on a high than have it fizzle out miserably and totally unrecognisable.

I want to see the promised "little blue child(ren)"! Even if Shepard doesn't survive, her legacy can live on!

Don't say that!! :L don't put ideas in the devs heads :P

I hate tragic endings, although it creates a sense of a "legend" being born, but tragic endings are so depressing...

Sorry about all these replies... I've just finished Arrival so I'm reading what Ive missed :)

Oh noes, conversation, however shall we manage? ;)

So what did you think of Arrival?

I think a tragic, gives-everything-to-save-the-universe ending would be fitting for Shepard. >.>

After Arrival I want Liara to rescue my Shepard.
What do you think will Liara's reaction be about Arrival? My Shep needs a hug, even after Torfan, that was brutal.

I'm sure Liara will understand the "greater good" and have something suitably comforting to say to Shepard. Plus, hugs, can't forget those. :3

See, I want more of the Mass Effect universe, and so long as they can assure me that they'll never use Shepard again, I'll be happy.

And hell yeah for little blue children!  The first story I wrote (Business) was about Shepard's daughter.

There is a vast universe to explore, true, but I'm not sure I can play it without Shepard either. >.>

Hehe, that's the approach I'm going for. I'm having Liara reminisce about Shepard to their daughter. It's pretty handy as a narrative device and I also get to explore what their child would be like. :3

Edited to say: I'm really going to have to read your stories one of these days, aren't I?

I think they should end "Shepard's" story in ME3. Then maybe create another story in the Mass Effect universe (after giving themselves time to think of another brilliant one)...

That's a really good point. We all had the chance to romance Liara but the Kaiden and Ashley fans got nothing, having Liara stay in the base til near the end would sort of even that discrepancy out.

@centauri - Biotic god volus for Shep's lawyer, he thinks things and they happen.

Well at least we know how Shep is going to start ME3 on earth probably in court although the trailer suggests otherwise. I have faith in Bioware they won't make a 4th Shep game. I'd like them to keep exploring the ME universe though.

I'm all for the tragic heroic death scenario, of self sacrifice. But I'd like to be able to choose to settle down with lots of little blue children too.
