Is this a different FanFic to the 5000 word "love" scene one? ;P

No, it's the same one. Without giving too much away, it's mostly a reflective piece. :)

I'll give you this much... the story starts off in 2399. So that should tell you about who's around and who isn't. ;)

Her change in appearance? What do you mean exactly?

Posted Image trying to pull a fast one eh? Shep would be 245 years old..... wait that would mean Liara and Shep's kids though would be alive..... argh me brain it is too slow.

Edit* Oh I see now, a temporal shift, nice, creative too.

The spots/pattern/skin shading around her hair (tentacles? wtf, someone needs to come up with a good name for it) are more pronounced in ME1 than 2 (at least to my eyes). Also lip colour changes at the start of LotSB from pink to blue.

Shepard would be if she was alive, yes.

That's something I've wondered. People refer to those "tentacles" as such but are they even soft? They look more like a part of the asari skull to me. We never see them move. That said, we never see human hair move either. >.>

I don't think there was much thought put into the reasoning of Liara's appearance changing other than BioWare wanting to upgrade her looks in LotSB. I suppose it can be explained away as mostly make up. Other causes could be she looks healthier in LotSB (less pale) because she's got Shepard back and knows Feron is alive. But I'm grasping at straws here.

I Thought your FanFic was based in 2183 (Message...)? :P

And if her "tentacles" moved, that would look freaky ;L

There's an ad on illium about the skin of a matriarch and there could be something there about whether they're soft or not? Hair being an immovable object seems to abolish the laws of physics but then again some latitude has to be given, although from memory the FF games aren't too bad for moveable hair.

Hmm I was thinking the appearance change could be linked to Liara's aging but not sure. If she's at the end of her teen years or entering the equivalent of mid 20s I guess that could explain it.

You're making me reveal more! Basically, Liara is speaking with her and Shepard's daughter in 2399 and reminiscing about her time with Shepard (both on her own and talking to her daughter). Hence the 2183 scene. It'll probably make it a tad on the melancholic side but I'm strangely drawn to it. >.>

I can't say I remember anything about that in the game but I might have missed it. Yes, I believe BioWare should get Squeenix in to do their graphics for them, while they have creative control over the gameplay and story. :3

That's also a good theory. That could work!

I always referred to the asari "tentacles" as their "crest" or "head crest", though I haven't come up with a name for one of the individual bits. I think the turian in Eternity mentions something about how the asari look just like turians because of the same "crest". Though I could be imagining things.

Crest... that's excellent! Thank you, Marshal, now I have a fitting name for it. :3

The head-tentacles are called fringe right? I'm sure the Turian at the bachelor party says that.

Fringe!  That's the other word I occasionally use.

BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!

Nah, just kidding. I would not know what to call them myself if it was not for that conversation in the bar.

:crying:

I think it was the question as to whether they're solid or not that threw me off. I would never have thought to call it those if they were, indeed, tentacle-like. However, the term crest leads me to believe it's solid. As for fringe... that could go either way. >.>

I imagine they're solid, but more like cartilege than bone or chitin.

I refer to it as a crest. I assume they are hard as well.

Of course I also assumed that they are an asari pleasure center as well, particularly near the tips. After all it only makes sense that a mono-gendered species that reproduces through a mental union would have differrent points on the body that generate pleasure than a human female would. I.E. the lower back just above the buttocks as we see in LoTSB.

Agreed, that does make sense. The tips of the crest is a good idea too. I'm of the opinion that other points along their spine would be sensitive too, since their nervous system plays such an important part in their reproductive process. But, I'm sure there are plenty of other theories that would work as well.

I imagine that, much like just about any part of the human anatomy, asari could derive some physical pleasure at any sort of contact to any part of the crest. My vote for the most sensitive areas would be in the small gaps between the ridges, and at the back of the head near the base of the skull.

For my FanFic:

Do you guys think I should describe the rooms of the Normandy SR-2? or assume that it is mostly Mass Effect fans that are going to read it (and therefore already know what the rooms look like) and just have the room names?... I like describing things, but Mass Effect fans might think "When is the main plot going to happen??" :P

Well. The rooms are not that detailed. You can describe the room if there something personal in them, like whats on Shepard's desk (medals? Picture of Liara?).

So yes. Describe the rooms if you wish, how a room is decorated can in-directly tell us about a character.

If there's a point to it, then yes. Description is great for immersion but it can also be tedious. Brief descriptions are probably best for unimportant areas but if you're introducing something important then taking time on it is fine. More importantly, it depends on the type of scene you're writing. If it's slow paced then taking a paragraph to describe the texture of a bulkhead probably isn't going to seem odd but action scenes tend to need a quicker pace. It's all about balance really. Hope that helps. :)
