Slightly off-topic. I don't think Samara's three daughters are the only AY. Because would the asari goverment really have special prisons dedicated to only three prisoners?
dunno...maybe they also have some Asari Super Villains in that prison
Im sure there are more out there...hiding themself or hidden by asari government.
Asari supervillains? Sounds cool!
I think there are more AY out there. Most of them in prison, and perhaps a lucky few keeping a low profile and hiding.

But she said to her knowledge, 3 only existed, including Morinth.
Does she? I think she said that only 3 are in existance today. But if they got prisons designs for AY, there's a good chance it's because there are more than 3 around.
Well we dont know how long those prisons already exist...maybe they've been created in a time with a lot more Ardat Yakshi around.
However this is getting to much off-Liara.
You guys think Aethyta always managed and wanted to keep track of Liara...maybe getting a job in that bar for the very reason to have an eye on her?
I think its quite suspicious that shes right next door. I mean the chances are high that Liara stood on the very same spot ordering a drink, where Shepard stood when he was talking to Aethyta

That's an interesting point about Aethyta. o: Although supposedly she's been working as a bartender for a long while. Granted, she never said anything about having worked at that particular bar for a long time.

So what would you want to ask her?

Yes, I have always thought this. I doubt it's a coincidence.

I doubt that we'll see that, for two reasons:in ME3 [...] to finally ask Liara questions about herself
Firstly these conversations have taken place in ME1 but weren't shown to the player. It would seem a bit odd to retcon that, and have Shepard ask Liara where she's from after being in a relationship for more than two years.
Secondly, it would be rather boring. Just because one is interested in the answer to these questions doesn't mean that these answers will make an exciting game. (Which is presumably why people never talk in movies)
Edit: Added quote for context.

Everything.
I would ask her things like, 'What did you do for fun when you were a child?' or 'What was Benezia like?' or 'How was your time in college? Was it unusual for you (amongst the asari) to attend college at the age you did?' or 'What was it like growing up as a pureblood?'

There's one question that Shepard should be able to ask of all the possible LIs in ME 3. I hope that BioWare will implement it.
Apart from that, it's true that there's too little information about Liara's past. But it's also true that it would be only logical that Liara and Shepard would have talked about that already before the events of ME 2. In other words, it's one of the things of which we just need to assume that they have happened. But at least some of it should be shown in the game, so that the players learn a bit more about Liara too.

We know that Ardat-Yakshi live in isolation (masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Ardat-Yakshi). Falere and Rila live in a "dark fortress" with only one communal communicator (masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Shadow_Broker_Dossiers/Justicar_Samara). That isn't necessarily a prison.
The impression I got is that they live in exile, probably on some barely-inhabited planet far from population centres. Falere and Rila are there by their own chosing; their only other option is to be hunted like Morinth. I suppose that's something of a prison, but far from what we call 'jail'.
But that's just my guess.
Back on topic, I started to delve into fanfic, specifically Liara and/or FemShep. I'm reading Duty Calls (www.fanfiction.net/s/6043456/1/Duty_Calls) at the moment and enjoying it. Links to similar material are always appreciated

And when it comes to Tali and Garrus, you still asked questions about their people, their race, a story about a girl, their friends, etc.

By the way, you're a fantastic writer. I'm on Chapter 4... I suspect by Chapter 9 I'll be worshiping the ground you walk on.

On the topic of asking Liara about her past...
Unfortunately I think Liara's investigation questions will be very "in the now." With Earth being invaded and the reapers looming, I expect that much of her dialogue with Shepard will revolve around that. However it could be like Lair of the Shadow broker, where we find out neat little things like her birthday strewn in there. Then again, Bioware could have a very character focused plot in ME3, and could prove me all wrong. I hope this is the case.

I'm just saying, they've only had a short amount of time to know each other. I imagine there's stuff to ask about her past. Especially stuff that involve her father.

Also Pacer90, any chance you will update your fanfic soon?

The end of "The Distance Between Two Stars" gets me, too. It's just not fair.

So what do you think PS3 players will think of Liara, after only knowing her for 10 minutes in the comic? Do you think they'll be enough to hook up with her before they start playing Lair of the Shadow Broker?
No, I expect most PS3 players will randomly pick an ME1 LI and then romance someone in ME2.
I think it will be impossible to form any type of emotional attachment to the ME1 LIs from a 15 minute intro.
