I'll try to answer this briefly as I'm meant to be going to sleep. >.>
I can't come up with all the questions, I need some help, you know.
Favourite quote, ack... I can't decide. D: I loved that taxi banter, so probably the "it's a taxi! It has a fare meter!" But there's just too many.
Personally, I wasn't all that taken with Liara initially. I found her extreme innocence a little off-putting. But I definitely warmed to her. As for why I like her, well it certainly helps that we share a profession, methinks. Her caring and understanding nature makes it hard to dislike her as well. Why did I romance her? She was the only female for my Shepard. Simple as that. >.> That said, there's no one else my Shepard would rather be with.
You're an Archaeologist in real life? Nice!
Regarding why I like Liara:
Almost every single damn time in any kind of fiction, the tech/scientist characters are usually a. total losers, b. essentially useless in a fight, and c. get zero character development. I like Liara because she's a badass scientist character who's actually a character, not just a force to push the plot forward. That was what got me into her at first.
I did ME1 + ME2 vanilla back to back. As soon as I beat ME2, I went to the BioWare site, registered here and got Lair of the Shadow Broker. After I played LoTSB, I was just amazed.
I like Liara because she's not perfect. Liara is _incredibly_ stubborn. She can focus in on something and completely ignore the outside world. With that in mind, the best way to learn about a character is to see how they deal with problems. It's the old adage - show, don't tell. Liara/Shepard doesn't always work. That was my favorite part of LoTSB. Liara doens't just take Shepard back at the drop of a hat. There's tension. Nobody wants to admit that they could be wrong. Of course, at the end, we get a happy ending.
Liara is also a breath of fresh air from the rest of the crew. Generally, the ME squadmates are military. Kaiden, Ashley, Garrus were military personnel, Wrex is a mercenary, Tali is going down the Admiral path. Liara is the only really non-military crewmember. This is interesting because she isn't looking to Shepard as her commander - she's seeing Shepard eye to eye.
As for why I romanced her first game:
I did Feros -> Therum -> Noveria -> Virmire. This gave me the obvious disadvantage of getting this gem.
"Liara, we just killed your mother. I'm so sorry. Do you need anything"
"Don't worry about it Shepard, I'm over it."
"Liara, really. I'm here for you."
"I will remember Benezia as she was, not what she became."
"Okay Liara, I'm glad you see it that way. Thank you for everything. I knew I could trust you."
"Shepard, there is one more thing!"
"Yes, Liara?"
"Shepard, is there anything between you and Lt. Alenko?"
"Uh, what?"
"Shepard, I like you "
(me sitting at computer): LOL WUT
"You were right Liara. I do like you"
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Shepard really knows how to show a lady a perfectly horrific time.
My interaction with Kaiden wasn't much better. I will break out the standard disclaimer (one that I really should just put in my signature by now), that I am a guy in real life. Kaiden's wishy-washy 'mance dialogue made me IRL facepalm. JUST ASK HER OUT YOU TWIT!
