That's actually an excellent point, Marshal. Her lack of emotion bothered me when I first played but, as I've said before, she grew on me. As for that American habit to say "British accent" don't get me started, it's a pet peeve. :P

Why?  'Cause every 'royal' or 'posh' movie character - whether they're Egyptian, Persian, or ancient Roman - speaks with a British accent?

*edit* for totp Liara (and because I love her snarl-face)

No no, calling it a British accent because there's no such thing. :P

So help me out here as I'm not usually mean to Liara. What do you do to get Liara to put that evil look on her face. It looks like as if she's about to turn around, shoot a whole bunch of lightning from her fingertips and shout 'POWER!!!'  -- I know.. too much star wars right?

Are you asking where in the game that shot is from?  It's when you first meet her on Illium, and she's threatening a client who isn't willing to pay.

Liara: "You pay me, or I flay you alive...  with my MIND."

Heh now that you mention it... I do remember. Somehow I completely forgot that part. Thanks. Still I think it looks like she's about to use force lightning at the first person who disturbs her...

I always thought the 'nice' lines on Illium are boring.
If you tell her you wont help her, she get's really mad. Not that I want her to be mad at Shepard, but I think those lines are way better and show more emotion, there is so much pain. :(
You can do the Quests anyway.

With all that Liara has suffered in Shepard's 2 year absence I wouldn't want to cause any more pain at that point. While it's true Liara's actions were rather selfish, considering she knew what Cerberus was capable of, not knowing what they were going to turn Shepard into. But in this case it all worked out rather nicely and so there's no real reason to be mad at Liara.

And to me the best line is still the one where Liara finishes with "...Because I couldn't let you go"  That one is so unbelievably sweet there needs to be a paragon interrupt to hug Liara at that point. Ahh well, keep dreaming I suppose.

@TheMarshal I love it when Liara tries to be intimidating... it just makes her all the more adorable.

I did a playthrough where I chose the non-nice lines when meeting Liara. I wanted to smack Shepard myself afterwards.

I could never bring myself to not help Liara on Illium.  At the time, I was just so shocked at seeing the apparent change in her personality that I wanted to delve deeper Oh who am I kidding?  I would have done anything for Liara.

As for the "she's been through so much in two years", you don't know that at the beginning.  You only know what she's showing you, and what she shows you (unless you press) is that she's very distant and driven by revenge.

He's insinuating a... swift removal from ME3 for Liara... Which would be silly, given the plot armor she had in the rest of the series.

On another note, almost done with the first draft of Chapter 5! Hoping to wrap it up tomorrow and dive right in to Chapter 6! (Revisions can come later >.>)

Excellenttt....

Although Marshall I am disappointed you didn't comment on my C++ joke a few pages back.

Sorry, I had a parsing error when you put the 'else' statement inside the curly braces for the 'if' statement  ; P

Didn't manage to finish up the final scene.  I had zero time yesterday, but I imagine work will be slow today and I can contribute a little more  ;)

RAGEEEE :pinched::pinched::pinched::pinched::pinched::pinched:

At least I've got a week until my exam. Actually, that programming exam is my last barrier before i get to polish off my next chapter... hmmm....

I only tell her that Shepard won't hack terminals for her, because the mission is too important and that you won't kill someone just to help her get revenge. At that point what happened with Cerberus is out of Character knowledge.
But if you make Liara angry she says something like:
Let's not argue, because I don't have much friends left.

After that I always pick the nice answers and help her anyway. I don't go all renegade on her.
I only think you miss out some really good lines if your always nice to her, even in ME1.

I feel the same way regarding the preference of the lower dialog options that makes Shepard more angry at Liara. Shepard displays emotions instead of being a brick, and thereby makes the Illium cameo far better than the paragon version. Althrough I will never pick the option that leads to the "I couldn't let you go" because frankly, there entire scene falls off the rails after that one line is spoken and completely ruins it.

I actually probably should listen to the other dialogue options on Illium, based on the way I RP the events after Illium, I should see if there actually are dialogue options in game that evoke the sort of emotions I'm shooting for.

Does your Shepard act shocked or angry when on Illium? The lower options have Shepard being frustrated over Liara making herself distant. Calling Liara out on her apperantly crazy vendetta she has against the SB for mysterious reasons.

Definitely shocked.  Not so much angry as upset (subtle difference, I know).  I also RP that Liara never actually divulges why she's hunting down the Shadow Broker because I feel that her telling Shepard that sort of railroads the emotions in one direction.  Distant is distant, telling me why she's distant only cheapens it, and it makes any sort of anger/frustration on Shepard's part kind of ****-ish.

Asking her why she is hunting the SB is not mandotory (and picking the option derails the scene). When you don't ask Liara about it. All Shepard knows is that Liara is hunting the SB for some reason including a "friend", and that vendetta is more important than helping Shepard. Couple that with her acting cold and distant and I think picking the lower options makes much more sense, and feels more real as Shepard displays that he is angry/upset at the situation.

Right, but when you start LotSB, regardless of your dialogue choices from earlier, she tells you why she's hunting him.  And that, I feel, totally makes the "about us" line after killing Vasir, or any lingering anger Shepard may be feeling that much more selfish and childish, which isn't how I want to RP those events.

Are they bringing back the pink lips for ME3? I'm still waiting for the local GameStop to get the may issue of GI, so I haven't seen much yet (just some low res scans). I was hoping they would keep her lips blue in ME3.

The pink lips really kind of bother me.

Maybe it is somewhat selfish, and I think that is fine actually. Let me explain.

The way I RP it. LOTSB takes place after the suicide mission, Shepard never got the truth from Liara regarding his body being given to Cerberus back on Illium, and things went sour between them, with a few angry words thrown at each other. So the whole thing has pretty much eaten away at him, so have they broken up now? Is there still something between them or is it over?  So when he finally recieves the intel from Cerberus he heads over for two reasons. One being to help Liara, and the second thing is hopefully being able to finally get some closure.

So yeah. That is how I understand the "About us" line. Shepard wants to know where they stand and is getting frustrated with Liara dancing around the subject, so he confronts her about it after the fight with Vasir.

Is that selfish? Maybe, but not something I would condemn Shepard to an eternity in hell for.

I believe they're keeping Liara just as she was in LotSB, Emmanuel. That's what it looks like from GI anyway. :)

I missed some discussion today, was out at the cinema. D:

The promo shot use the LotSB model with the blue lips.

Her only in-game screenshot have her with her back to the "player" holding a Tempest, she does have her LotSB outfit, so she probably have the blue lips as well.

Also, Liara is the only squadmate seen "in action" in the mag. :)

I wouldn't fully trust any character models just yet. We are still ~6-7 months out. If you'll remember, Liara's character model for ME1 originally looked like...
