Yeah, I think after everything Shepard's been through, two little moments are not enough. >.>

Edited to add another Redemption shot no one will like~.

But you're right. Shepard should be allowed to be selfish on occasion and also to be emotional sometimes. A private moment here and there shouldn't be denied just because she's a hero and is the saviour of the galaxy. She's only human, after all.

Glad to see people agreeing with me.

I really don't like the Chakwas one because Shepard replies are either "We must not failz teh mission!!" or "I want REVENGE!!". Both of those replies are not really satisfying.

I can't even begin to explain how much I agree with Shepard being an emotionless log on Illium, I mean... Liara said "because I couldn't let you go..." in such an incredibly sweet way, Shepard should just have sat there, stunned. Saying something like: "I... I can't believe you did that for me. I'll never be able to repay you for what you did. I love you Liara..."

But instead Shepard talks only about his darn mission...Emotionless log I tell you.
Okay I went a little far there but I was really bothered by Shepard's reaction at that time...

MaleShep is an emotionless log anyway. Yes, I went there!

I'm ignoring the fact that FemShep had the exact same lines. Denial, it's a wonderful thing!

I agree that the Chakwas response choices were not great but it was simply that Shep was asked at all. I think with Chakwas, Shep kept the guard up but the choices to Liara were more honest.

That is one of the things that I like about the Liara character. She doesn't allow Shep to BS. Take the cabin scene in Mass Effect when Shepard starts saying that they will beat Saren & she bluntly says "I am not here for comfort". She called Shep on the carpet with that one line to me. It was her way of saying I see through your BS and I want to have a truthful & open exchange. I loved that line and wish there were more of those ... or maybe it was my own adding layers.

I agree with you on that, PMC, I felt there were a good few moments where Liara has been able to get Shepard to open up. She's probably the only character who has, whether she's a LI or not.

True, they're both emotionless logs at that point. I wonder though, was it so much work to replace those few lines of dialogue with a different one if Shepard was in romance with Liara? If I were in Shepard's shoes, hearing about Liara risking her life for even the smallest chance of getting me back... I might actually have started crying and fell at her feet (or given her a big hug at least).

I agree with you on that, PMC, I felt there were a good few moments where Liara has been able to get Shepard to open up. She's probably the only character who has, whether she's a LI or not.

No I think Jacob can also manage to have Shepard open up a little if you're in a romance with him. But it's nice Liara manages it as well.

@Rob: I wouldn't know about that. I can't stand speaking to Jacob because of the FemShep flirting with him so I've never gotten past that part. D:

Doesn't Jacob say it in order to direct the talk away from himself? Not sure, but I think he does that.

I noticed. I recently started ME2 with a femshep and it's rather awfull how I'm pretty much forced to flirt with jacob every time I start talking with him. Saw that part on youtube though, I never cheat on Liara. EVER.

I think you may be right about that. But Shepard responds very relieved. She's (since it's part of romance it can only be femshep) finally able to talk to someone about how she feels about everything that's happened with her lately. Nice piece of dialogue actually.

By far my favourite dialogue with Jacob is when you try and get him to emote and he breaks up with you, for some reason I found it hilarious.

I didn't mind the emotionless Shep. Hated it the first playthrough but I thought about and and decided Shep isn't sure of the power balances at that moment and probably not sure of their own feelings. I would have liked some gratitude and I still want to slap Shep just a bit at that scene but I can live with it, missed oportunity though; from Bioware.

Femshep is not allowed to talk with Jacob unless regarding LM and upgrade. Femsheps' body language & voice makes me think of a sleazy car salesman ... would not be acceptable even if said focus was Liara and not Jacob.

And once I saw a clip of Jacob on the Shadow Broker console doing sit-ups when my Shep visits Liara, I make sure that she avoids that room altogether. I do not want Liara seeing Shep walk in his work station, interupt his sit-ups and act all "flirty icky" as they discuss weapons upgrade.

Yeah exactly. Whenever I talked to Jacob, I felt like I'd lost control over my Shepard. She was no longer mine at was the Shepard BioWare had created instead. I didn't like that feeling so I just avoided it altogether. As such, Jacob was neglected. And the thought that Liara might see that behaviour... *shudders*

Cut to Jacob's work station. Shep walks in and leans suggestively on table, "Jacob, (voice deepens) can you look at my HMWSG? (licks lips) it keeps jamming." Jacob takes weapon and starts to inspect it while Shepard leans even farther back.
Minutes later the sound of screeching metal, Joker is heard over com "Uh, Commander? I think the Shadow Broker just rammed into us."

Liara had that video of Jacob doing sit-ups shirtless and it was in a system that keep "copies" of what the last user watched. Shepard wasn't the first one to look at it...

Thinking of it, I can understand watching Anderson, Aria, Cerberus, her "father", C-Sec, Citadel crimer boss and keepers...but why did Liara keep all those videos of Khalisah al-Jilani getting punched?

I think a better question is why wouldn't anyone keep them? ;)

Edited to say: Perhaps she was saving them up as a gift for Shepard.

You have to flirt with him in order to get it, but after you open up to him, you can tell him it's probably better to stay friends.

Could have been the yahg....or Feron.

I wouldn't really look too far into this...I think those vids were just an easter egg sort of thing.  We could spend all day making up motives for Liara or Shepard watching these but I think they were simply added for the lulz.

Which means that Liara has access to video feeds into the Normandy. Considering that my Femshep acts like a tart in any type of Jacob interaction in that room I do not need Liara to see this.

Liara is keeping tabs on Shepard as noted by her comment made in LotSB if you cheat on her. How does she know that you slept with Tali/Jack/Thane/etc? She is good at her job. Give her a live feed through the SB's network and don't think that she isn't watching her Shepard ... soooooooo, my Shep does not go near Jacob's work station.

When Feron says that she has fallen asleep at the console I always thought one of the monitors was on Shep's cabin where she was also sleeping. But that is in my ME world.

I'm pretty sure that if Liara was actually watching those videos, she'd probably have some reaction to the fact that Matriarch Aeythia is her long-lost father.

Instead of you know, 'thanks for stopping by'.

Yeah, you have a good point Emmanuel. There's got to be a lot of feeds there, she can't watch them all.

That said, she'd been living very closely to her father for a long time. How unlikely is it she hadn't come across some hint that this matriarch had some connection to Benezia? Perhaps she's known for some time and just doesn't want to confront it. Liara's been very focused on the Shadow Broker, after all.

Just a thought. :)

In ME1, Liara isn't too fond of talking about her "father", it's a subject that make her unsecure. So not wanting to confront it is probably a good assumption. She seems affraid her other parent was ashamed of having a pureblood and she prefer to live in ignorance then know the truth.
