Agreed, no disrespect to the FemShep players of course, I have a similar problem with fanfictions when people go out of their way and give the MaleShep's first names.mr_luga wrote...
*Sigh* This thread is making me depressed, it seems like Liara is a female only love interest or something since everyone keeps talking about "She" being with Liara and everyone agreeing.. <.<; My shepard is a GUY thanks. My shepard dont want to be a grand mother <.<
Arghargrhgr! I need some more man shepards in here, I feel alone
I based my Canon Shepard of myself, so when I read a Mass Effect fanfiction I like to picture myself as Shepard.

That one is from squanderling on deviant art but I can't access the site on my university's servers. So how I get them is a mystery

I go out of my way to use Shepard's surname throughout the narrative in my fan fiction and her first name only crops up when absolutely necessary in the dialogue. Of course, my story's still not going to work for you since she's female.
But she's just another character to me, so I don't mind. It's a little strange reading other first names for me too but that's only because I'm used to my Shepard.
As for the MaleShep/FemShep thing, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I don't read MaleShep fan fiction or anything and I realise that everyone has their own version of Shepard in their head so it doesn't detract from any conversation on this forum either.

They should as both Liara and Shepard have them.

Medora has tattoos/markings over her brow so you wouldn't see them anyway. But I don't see why they wouldn't if they had no markings.

They better. If not Shepard and Liara's kids would be typical Asari. The eyebrows are one of the things that make Liara special. Besides, if I remember it right, Benezia had eyebrows as well. So it's a safe bet Liara's kids will too

An interesting thought though... Liara is the product of a pureblood union (not sure about Benezia) so how will melding with a human affect the appearance of their child? Some asari have markings, some have different skin textures. So how will the human randomisation affect Liara and Shepard's children, I wonder?

I like that!
Only problem is the only baby asari out there in pictures has no eyebrows.

As much as I like Medora, eyebrows would be cool
*Edited to say image from NoAng31
And that I hope the randomisation effect modifies behaviour in the Asari but I guess that's just as likely to be a nurture rather than nature thing.

Regarding the 'randomisation of genes' there are a few asari hinting towards it in ME2. First is Erinya (The racist asari on illium working for baria frontiers), she says the Asari hardly need other races to reproduce and that taking genes from other races is a fairy tale. They're needed for randomizing genes, nothing more. And it could be solved with.. I don't remember what it was she mentioned. Though her opinion could've (and probably will have) been highly influenced by her strong feelings against any other race.
The second is Ereba (commonly known as blue rose asari), she states 'Non asari don't always get that we don't take any genes from our partners, we just use them to randomize our genes'. The way she says it, Asari don't take any external features from the father figure.
The third is aethyta, pretty much confirming what Ereba said: "Taking genes from the father is Crap. Seems like I got a bit of his mouth though". I like this theory the most. Asari not taking any external features from the father figure sounds reasonable. Internally it's very plausible that the Asari gains a personality that's a mix between her mother and father's personalities.
I think their children will (obviously) look like Liara, including eyebrows and everything, but have a combined Liara/Shepard personality (which will be interesting considering Liara is NOTHING like the typical Asari and of course neither is Shepard)

@Fiddles: Are eyebrows really that important? >.> Whether a child inherits anything from Shepard or not, the gene randomisation is likely to remove those eyebrows at some point. If they're a marking like any other the asari have, then that makes sense. I see them as a feature of Liara (even though her mother had them too but I wasn't as attached to that character) so it wouldn't bother me if her child were born without them.
Cute picture though.

Eyebrows are near the bottom of the list, what's more important is that she's a believable character who changes through adversity. Eyebrows in the game though (supposing we see the child) would be a nice touch. I do however, concede on the probability of the eyebrow genetic trait becoming rarer.
I'd really like to see a kind of epilogue in ME3 for a good ending that shows a glimpse of Shepard and Liara together with their child. That would be such a sweet Good+ ending. :3
What would be even better is if they made DLC that allowed you to play as Shepard at some point in the future, just to tie up loose ends and to give a nice touch of finality to her story. I doubt that'll happen but it's a nice thought.

@Rob: Taking Aethyta as an example, have you seen her skin? It's much rougher than any other asari's. Her father was krogan. There's definitely some transference there. I'm not sure if it's just BioWare being inconsistent or if there's an actual effect.
Considering Aethyta is one of only 2 Asari Matriarchs you see in the game the rougher skin could just be attributed to her being a matriarch, I wouldn't contribute it to her father being a krogan.

THAT would be awesome! A final DLC where you play as Shepard one last time and tie up some loose ends. Taking place several years after the end of ME3. Starting off in your nice house with a few tiny asari running around shouting: "Daddy! Daddy! Tell me the story of how you beat those mean machines again. Please?"
As a side note: How would femshep feel if her children called her daddy?

She would probably feel a bit strange.
I think the children will just have 2 people to call "mummy".

I'm a very manly shepard with lovely liara by my side, my canonShep didn't even consider another LI than her. I must say i'm hoping for some epic dialogues and scenes with her as the relationship progresses in ME3.

Maybe that's the wrong question - why would they do that? I think it's not unreasonable to expect their children's first language would be asari and not human/English/Chinese/whatever. As such, I would expect them to use the asari term for "parent" or "mother" and keep it after they learn human. As a side note: How would femshep feel if her children called her daddy?

Nope, my Shepard wouldn't want to be called Daddy. She's female, she's a mother. So "Mommy" it is.
