Yeah, the will have no clue who she is.

Well I guess the good thing is that they have LOTSB right away...
Imagining only having that comic and no LOTSB *shudder* ...would be such an injustice for a wonderful character.
I feel sorry for the VS characters.

Yeah, I had hoped the VS character would have a DLC by then but it doesn't seem likely.

But, with LotSB, Liara is practically the 7th LI in ME2 so she does have an advantage there.

I think that is in the hands of the quality of the comic...as much as the art might suck, maybe they still manage to portrait her well so that a lot of players consider her for a romance. And we know that LOTSB portraits her wonderful...so since a PS3 player should be able to play the LOTSB mission about the same time where the romance dialogues start to get triggered in ME2 then I think she has a fair chance.

come on...it will be hard to resist her

*sighs* Those blue eyes are really distracting.

Never thought about it when I played ME1, but couldn't stop when I played LotSB. I'd open up the Squad menu just to look at them.

Aw, that's a great pic.

This is why I can't romance anyone else.

Can't....resist....that....

I'd never get anything done if Asari were real. Liara is too cute for her own good :(

Actually, Liara being a LI is what turned a friend of mine into a Mass Effect lover :) I have the PS3 version on pre-order for her as a late christmas gift.

The picture above though.....those eyes....

Anyone else wondering how *SPOILER* Liara being the new SB is gonna play out in the 3rd game? Kind of a tough situation seeing it was an add-on. So, it's not part of the standard game experience. Seems pretty significant to the story though...I hope she just quits and comes back to working with Shep...I miss her :(

Wasn't it one of the bridging DLC though? So even though it's an add on, it's prepping us for 3. So 3 will probably just assume people did the SB mission. That's the way I understood it anyway.

I think Tarahiro is right. If the player were to import a ME2 save into ME3 in which LotSB is not played and completed, I think it's events will be explained in the prologue. The game will state how Shepard and Liara attacked the Shadow Broker's base together, before Liara stepped into the role itself.

It's story bridging DLC, and I think it's a canonical part of the narrative. Additionally, the only variable present in the DLC is the status of the romance, which could easily be tackled during ME1's first act.

I assume that Liara will be the shadow broker regardless of if you did LotSB or not.

I do wonder if you DIDNT do it if she will have done it on her own, or the game will imply that you helped her.

Liara is by far one of my fav characters in the series. The character development she has went through is just fantastic. In ME she was a naive archeologist who liked to be alone and over the series she has matured, of course it ha been a bumpy road. The comic was not that good and in ME2 it just felt weird. LotSB thankfully fixed that with her, and made her romance the best in the series :)

Hopping in from the Garrus thread to say I'm so incredibly proud of Liara.  I played a FemShep and befriended her instead of romancing her, and she was like my adorkable little sister in ME1.  Imagine my delighted surprise in ME2 when she turns out to be more mature, self-confident, with several new levels of BADASS.  Liara is one of the few LI characters who IMO is equally strong with a friendship arc as she is with a romance.  Other characters' development suffers pretty considerably when not romancing them--Jack and Thane come particularly to mind.  But Liara went from being my Shep's little mentee to her trusted friend and badass equal :D

Well, the action tracks I wish had another loop to them, but it's a good price for just 3 dollars.

I agree her friendship path is very good (probably the best with the inclusion of LotSB).  Both Shepard and Liara have done a lot for each other over the years and I think that's reflective of their strong friendship.

In Mass Effect 3, like said before Liara will have a huge and important role. I know Cerberous I hate them, The Council and The Shadow Broker don't like them either. I am unsure in ways what may go since Liara is in charge. Liara and Shep are Lovers/Loyal if you picked her. I am hoping too for more interesting scenes, romance and action. Much is still very unknown, like most of you should know.

I do hope Liara (the Shadow Broker) takes on the role of Cerberus in ME3 as well.

I just want Cerberus completely gone from Shepard's life in ME3.

Hey, Cerberus brought Luna Shepard back to life so that she could reunite and snuggle with Liara. I've got nothing against them.

Yes, but Cerberus didn't bring Shepard back just so she could snuggle with Liara.  :P

I would very much prefer to work for the Shadow Broker in ME3, though.

I wouldn't mind Liara bossing me around at all. ^_^

I played a FemShep for my first (and only, so far) playthrough, and in my opinion, she's the only truly viable LI for ME1. Maybe I didn't take the time to get to know Kaiden enough, but he just seemed to be another grunt. I absolutely fell in love with Liara, though. She's just so sweet and fumbling and genuine, which was just a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of the crew.

When I found out that I wasn't going to be able to continue my romance with Liara in ME2, it seriously crushed me. I was all ready to go through the rest of ME2 not bothering to romance anyone when I found out about LotSB (which I promptly promptly bought and gobbled up immediately).

All this discussion about Liara (just read through ALL 25 pages of this thread... whew!) really has me appreciating the extra effort that BioWare is putting into developing her personality, and I can't imagine that she'd play anything other than a truly pivotal role in ME3.

Yes, ME2 was crushing to many Liara fans. Luckily, we got some more content.

I have to agree with your sentiment, TheMarshal, that the fact that they did put some effort into giving her a DLC and upgrading her character model/outfit as well as expanding her character's story will mean she will play a big role in ME3.

Liara is going to play a huge role in ME3. Her, combined with me working with, not for, Cerberus and we might just have a fighting chance at halting the reaper threat.

Lair of the Shadow Broker has made me realize that ME3 would probably be best off if no new love interests are introduced in the game. Better to just keep the ones from ME1 and 2 around for further development, and let Shepard focus mostly on saving the galaxy.
