I do remember these conversations and have even picked the Renegade options but I still don't recall Liara crying or getting terribly upset (Shepard just looks like a jerk if anything).

That's the one. She doesn't cry, but you definitely hurt her feelings. Keep hitting renegade, and hit "Don't try to study me!" instead of the "I'm fascinating?" response. You won't get the "joking" response.

You mean this?

Yeah, no crying.

That's the one.

I didn't mean literally when I said "make her cry" in my past post. I don't like Shepard making her feel bad for no reason, and that she did something wrong. Especially since she's just trying to make a friend. I think her feelings are very hurt, because you hit home that she isn't good at talking to people in a bad way. Especially if you stopped talking and left after that, without asking her anything else.

Your words - they're a mystery, wrapped up in a conundrum, enveloped in an enigma! :P

Seriously though, I don't think this looks like Liara. >.> Yeah it's got the main features but it's just not... her. I'm not sure if I'm put off by the reason I wrote about earlier but I just don't see her when I look at it. I don't think I can explain beyond that. >.>

I can see Shep and Liara having more trouble with Aethyta than their kid!

:pinched: This one made me laugh. Yeah seriously, Shepard shouldn't have too much trouble raising kids. He's a natural leader after all, if he can lead entire armies into battle and win, then raising a couple of asari kids shouldn't be that difficult. And Liara probably wouldn't allow her kids to go the traditional maiden way (dancing in bar or joining merc band) so they'll probably have more trouble with Aethyta.

Just imagine, Hannah Shepard meeting Aethyta. Now that's a scene I would love to see.

Ahaha. Oh, Rob, you crack me up. :P

Let me put it this way... my father was a CPO in the Royal Navy. He was in charge of the engine rooms on board battleships and later an instructor at naval bases. And he still had no clue how to handle me. I gave the poor guy hell. But, I'm sure that experience helped him deal with the matlos on those bases. >.>

Well, maybe you were just an incredibly hard child to handle and it was actually all your fault instead of his:P
...And not to insult your father or anything but I'm sure there's a pretty big difference between him and commander shepard so... I still don't think Shepard will have too much difficulty raising kids. There might also be a big difference between asari and human children. I think human children might be much harder to raise but since we've never seen an asari child it's hard to discuss this.

What do you guys think a typical asari child would be like? Also considering the huge difference between the humans (rushed and creatures of action, like Liara said) and the asari (more talking and less action, except for Aethyta)

Oh no doubt there are huge differences. But there are similarities too. My father was awarded a medal for bravery and he's been known to tell Admirals to "get the hell out of [his] boiler room". So there are some parallels there. ;)

That said, I think Shepard's own upbringing will heavily affect how she/he is with her/his child. An earthborn, for example, might be more protective and restrictive because of how their upbringing affected them. As for my Shepard, I think she'll be pretty hopeless with her child at first. She'll probably allow Medora to walk all over her until she finally manages to get a grasp on the parenthood thing. Which may well be a good number of years down the line. I think she's likely to be a bit of a softy though. Poor Liara may end up having to be more of the disciplinarian. >.>

I think an asari child's behaviour is going to be affected by who their parents are and where they're raised. One raised on Thessia, for example, is likely to have a completely different attitude to one raised on, say, the Citadel. I think it's inevitable that one raised by a human and an asari are going to gain traits from both races to some degree.

I agree, earthborn Shepard could go with the theme: "My child should have everything I didn't have."
That's not always a good idea^^
Spacer Shepard could be a very strict parent.
And Mindoir could be very protective because this Shepard lost so much.

It would be interesting to see the different depictions of those three backgrounds in the parental setting, actual. How far does background go, and how much does Shepard's own personality and experiences as a soldier control it. Would one override the other? Hmm... *ponders*

While you ponder I find my mind drawn back to the picture of Qrex giving Shep and Liara's kid q Pyjak. I got to thinking "What would the rest of the squad/crew of both games get the kid?" seems a good question. Any thoughts?

That's a fun question and I know the picture you're speaking of. it's amusing. ^^

Some of them will be better with children than others I'd imagine. So there's likely going to be some practical gifts, some fun gifts, and some just plain absurd gifts. Like the pyjak. :P

I can just imagine joker bringing something completely unsuitable. >.>

Joker and something unsuitable...for some odd reason the first thing in my head was miniature stripper outfit. However I think both Shep and Liara would kick his brittle ass for that.

Here's what I got:

Mordin: Chemistry set
Jacob: A book of some kind
Jack: Nothing
Samara: 'The Justicar's Oath, for Kids"
Garrus: A (toy?) sniper rifle
Kasumi: Clothes (hooded of course)
Thane: Something appropriate
Tali: Child-sized Omni-Tool
Grunt: A Shotgun
Kaidan/Ash: 'A History of the Alliance' (kids edition)
Wrex: Pyjak
Kelly: Mood Ring

Ashley: Book of Tennyson
Miranda: A how to manual for various subjects but she might go all maternal and buy lots of stuffed animals
Kaidan: Something simple but fun, possibly a yoyo, something that's easy to learn hard to master possibly a game
Samara: King Arthur stuff maybe
Mordin: A microscope
Jacob: Blasto the Jelly fish vid or a video game
Zaeed: A weapon of some variety, probably a Swiss Army knife equivalent
Kasumi: Lock-picking/hacking set
Thane: Something that requires thinking and action, Chess set maybe?
Garrus: Probably something requiring calibrations. Actually I think he'd go with something musical
Grunt: Probably a shark's head/jaw or a video game (a deeply inappropriate kind)
Jack: I think she'd be a real softie and get the kid a teddy bear equivalent
Tali: Something artistic maybe? Play-doh or lego or something that the kid can build with
Joker: Something fun, a comic equivalent

Also age would be important, I'm all over the shop with the ages in my list :S
Morinth get's a warning shot at 500m after that she gets any closer and everything short of a tactical nuclear strike will be declared.
Did I forget anyone? :S

Oh yes, Ashley would definitely be offering the cheesy poetry.

Great suggestions, both of you. I shall have to compile my own list.

I find that situation with Morinth quite amusing. I'd love to see a protective Liara and Shepard working together. >:3

Thanks Jig ^^
@Centauri - If anything ever happend to their child, who ever was responsible may as well shoot themselves straight away. Shep saved the galaxy 3 times, kidnappers are not going to win. But it would be nice to see Shep put under that kind of stress

Feel free to add yours Jig. I'm really not sure about a few of mine, and Kelly isn't allowed near My Shep's and Liara's kids.

Gabby: Train set for some reason comes to mind
Ken: A joke book or something about "how to cheat at poker"
Anderson: Something really fun that he probably shouldn't have got be did anyway, like a mini motorised vehicle of some description
Chakwas: First aid kit

I think that asari children would likely behave much the same way as human children. Their perspectives are skewed, given their short time being alive, and everything in the universe would still be so new and fascinating. Their parents' influence would definitely alter the way they look at things over time, since an adult asari would be far more patient and methodical than an adult human, so I can see an asari child who's 15-17 years old being a little less... 'moody' than a human teenager (unless of course they go through the same hormonal stages that humans do at that age)

It's just as well Marshal is going to be writing a story along these lines then. We'll both get to read something we want to see. >:3
