I bet she wouldn't be so happy to see Ash since she's such a "female dog" to her. One of the reasons Ashley is gone in my game ^w^

Pretty sure you're projecting your own feeling into a character there.
Ash didn't like Liara at first because her mother was working for Saren, and if  a Male!Shep... jealous.
Liara didn't like Ash at first because Ash ^^. And also because, if Male!Shep... jealous.:?

You really think they'd be that petty after all they'be been through?

I think they'd rise above it, particularly with the galaxy at stake. I don't see them becoming good friends though. Ashley has that racist streak in her and I'm sure she won't be able to understand the relationship dynamic between Shepard and Liara. Their personalities are quite different too.

But I don't see them being at each other's throats though. They might even be able to have some meaningful conversations. ;)

I'm not sure I agree with your opinion of Liara in ME1. I agree Ashley didn't like Liara much because of her connection to Benezia. As well as the jealousy part if maleshep. As for Liara though, she never seemed to dislike any of the crew, ashley included. She also wasn't noticably jealous at kaidan/ashley, even though tempers did heat up a little in the comm room scene and Liara actually hit the nail on the head right there by calling Ashley jealous at her :pinched:.

I can see Ashley getting over her negative feelings for Liara. But that's not the real problem here. I think it'll be more difficult getting the relationship between ashley/kaidan and shepard back on track. A simple 'I'm no longer with cerberus' although true, probably won't satisfy kaidan or ashley.

But I don't see them being at each other's throats though. They might even be able to have some meaningful conversations.

If DA2 is any indication I think we can look forward to some outstanding party banther, both funny and meaningfull. Personally I can see some returning ME2 squadmates joking about the suicide mission they launched, perhaps even telling ashley/kaidan just how much fun times they missed.

I'm not saying they'd hate each other, but they probably wouldn't have such deep/emotional converstaions, I see that hapening with Kaiden more than Ashley to be honest. I rather have more Shep and Liara dialogue together but everyone here would agree with that. ^_^

I think I'm just going to leave now.

Still, I'd like to see more off Professor T'Soni in ME3. Or at least someone else who can teach me about Protheans.

In general, I agree with you.  I just had this great image in my head of Ash and Shepard walking through the Normandy to the communication room after escaping Earth ('cause you KNOW the VS is gonna be the first squaddie).

Let me just fix that for you

Ash: Where are we going?
Shepard: We need to talk to someone who has a better idea of where to go next.
Ash: Who's that?
Shepard: The Shadow Broker
Ash (pauses): Are you kidding me, skipper?
Shepard (gesturing): Come on in, I'll introduce you.
*Holographic scanner slides up around the two of them as the quantum entanglement communicator launches*
Shepard: Ash...  meet the Shadow Broker
*Liara's projection appears*
Liara: It's good to see you again Chief Williams
Liara: Hey Shepard, good to see you. And hello to you too Chief Williams.
Ash: Bwah?

Can't have Liara greeting Ashley first, then Shepard 2nd.

Eh...  I figure that, being the Shadow Broker and all, Liara would know that Shepard was about to contact her, and that Ash was going to be there as well.  She'd want to see the look on Ash's face just as much as Shepard would!

And as for whether or not they get along, it really depends on how your headcanon works.  We don't see much squad interaction in ME1, so whatever you create is pretty much what happens.  In my head, Ash is still somewhat cool around Liara (but it's NOT racism!), but she appreciates Shepard's feelings and tries to help get them together.

True, the only real interaction between party members are the elevator banther and the tiny bits of dialogue during the mission debriefings. But apart from ashley being hostile towards liara out of jealousy over shepard, I don't see too much tension for them. And in the end, I think both ashley and kaidan still care for shepard (as a friend) and will also be grateful and probably respectful towards Liara for risking her life to safe Shepard.

Yeah, I see RP Kaidan having a twinge of jealousy with Liara, but he's generally enough of a gentleman to keep it hidden.

Just a butthurt Ash fan. Ticks me off whenever someone calls her racist :pinched:

I just noticed something,  after half a century of researching Protheans, in two years she becomes an information broker? How does that even correlate with her character? I need an explanation, please.

Simple, it was the only way for her to find out the location of the Shadow Broker, and Feron, whom she owed for helping her rescue Shepard. As you saw, the shadow broker is a dangerous enemy to have and she could only rely on herself and very trustworthy people (like shepard) to help her find him. It's ironic that, despite her 2 years of being in the information trade, it was cerberus who actually figured out the shadow broker's location. But when she started she figured it was the best way for her to find the shadow broker.

Wouldn't that only really exist if Shepard was female?

She might have inherit alot of money and other resources after Benezia died, and possibly some contacts too. All she used to get a good start in the info buisness.

Just a theory of-course.

Well, if you play as maleshep then Kaidan says Liara is a 'sweet girl, easy on the eyes' and if you ask him wether he's interested in her or not he'll say it's 'just art appreciation'. I cannot help but wonder if he's completely honest there, some part of me thinks he actually is interested in Liara, even if it's just a little. (I sure would if I were him:P) So he may also be slightly jealous at maleshep for his growing relationship with Liara, but he's professional enough not to show it.

I don't think she's a flat-out racist but I do think events in her life have left her jaded about certain things, and some of what she says because of that appears racist. I'm not necessarily holding it against her, it's an understandable part of her character. And I can appreciate a character's flaws. :)

Actually, the two line up pretty well. Archaeology is the collection of physical evidence for the purpose of analysing a culture. Most of our time is spent pouring over vast amounts of data in order to pull an intelligible fact from it all. Being an information broker uses a similar skill set. Liara still has to go over huge amounts of information and pull out the important parts. The big difference is how recent the information is and how relevant older data is.

Then, of course, becoming a broker was a necessary thing if she wanted to track down the Shadow Broker and help her friend. She had two years to build a network so I think that's enough time to warrant her position as a broker by the time Shepard comes across her.

Also, the events of ME1 and the time in between Shepard's death and ME2, have changed Liara somewhat. She's struggled with the loss of Shepard and possibly with the loss of a bondmate too, plus she has to try and deal with her guilt over sacrificing Feron. She's still essentially the same character, but she's built up layers of defence over that time, in order to deal with her feelings. And to be able to concentrate on the task ahead of her.

True. But Kaidan does not seem to be the type to get jealous like that. Beside, I am sure he is proberly with the doctor living on the Citadel. Also remember it has been quite some time since he last saw her.

And yeah. Kaidan is definetly interested in Liara! Instead of asking him if he is interested in her, pick the other option where Shepard says he is interested (Kaidan will give a diffrent response depending on Shep's gender).

M!Shep: Just remember lieutenant, I saw her first.

Kaidan: Only by a few seconds sir!

I chose that option with my FemShep too. Most satisfying. >:3

I'm not sure if Kaiden's merely bantering there but it does seem like he's interested in Liara on more than merely a professional level. I think they could end up being quite good friends.

Right...  Just as - in Rob's example - Ash would get jealous of Liara only if Shepard was a male.

I know, I love that part of dialogue. You can actually get that dialogue with femshep as well, but it requires certain other dialogue choices first, I forgot which. As just asking him about his opinion of the last mission will only unlock the 'are you' dialogue. Maleshep unlocks both at that point. I thought it was awesome having femshep say: "Just remember lieutentant, I saw her first"

If you're asking HOW she became an information broker, and how she's actually good at it, she likens it to her archaeology background.

- She's constantly digging for clues.
- Some of what she comes across may or may not be relevant to what she's looking for.
- The details of what she's looking for are likely incomplete.
- There may even be some information which is conflicting.
- She has mountains of data which she has to make sense of.

All in all, she's set up to be a pretty good information broker.

I think Kaidan reply is this "I heard Asari are open to that mam" if Shepard is female. Not 100% sure.
