heh I just want to hear it, I don't necessarily want it to be canon in my story. Off to the youtubes I go!

eta - Before I go...

After talking to feron a few days ago and having done thane's loyalty mission today I was reminded of the custom Shepard VI. Now Feron was complaining about the shadow broker's default VI settings and since Liara said she'd play around with the VI settings later, wouldn't it be awesome if Liara got a hold of a shepard VI personality for her base in ME3? Just thinking aloud but I'd love it if Shepard entered Liara's base for the first time in ME3, only to be greeted by... a Commander Shepard VI interface. With Liara then mentioning that it was a little quiet since Feron left and this way she'd always have something around to remind her of Shepard.

Okay maybe that was a little silly but I'd love it if that happened :D

That would be hilarious!

One wonders just how complex that VI program is. >.>

The guy that gives you a copy of the Shepard VI (though you can never use it) says a few volus are continuously patching it, so I think it would be up to the task. Besides, it's just a personality it would seem, comparable to a website skin I guess. Doesn't affect performance or ability of the VI, just the outside look.

The artist calls them more tattoos or war paint markings.

Not to worry. It is still possible that some asari have these genetic facial markings but others don't, and in order to distinguish themselves, those asari actually do paint their faces. But try not to take these artists at their every word, I watched the turian vid as well and the artist did mention some things that are different in the game itself. So it's still possible those artists made small mistakes in their explanation of things.

Apparently, Salarians saw the asari, and where like "****! We need boobs!". And thus, made the thing across their chest.

At least I have my answer about their darn fringe now! He describes them as spines so definitely something quite firm.

ETA: When he's talking about face paint and decorative tattoos, he's referencing all the alien species' designs processes. He just says they "extended that to the asari as well" so it may very well be that this isn't a contradiction. That he just meant it in a design sense, rather than a lore sense. :)

It's a good idea though the way the article in game infomer seem to be set out made it seem like at the start of 3 Liara would be there with you on earth for the trail.  Would be a nicer way to handle it if she is your love interest, I doubt she'd sit by in that ship while you face that.

Yeah, he was describing the other races, and then said that they extended those to the asari as well.  He specifically said the asari had markings or crown banding, so I think it's safe to say that Liara has eyebrow markings [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/grin.png[/smilie]

I still think they're 'cartilege' firm and not 'bone' firm.  Plus, I would take the artist's word with a grain of salt, since they only do the visual design of the aliens, and not the lore surrounding them.  For that you'd have to talk to the design team - which I would love to see.

Seriously, where is my printed "Aliens of Mass Effect" omnibus already?  Why has this not been made?

Yes, he also calls them hair fins, which is just a little confusing. That description suggests something completely different to spines. They do have a somewhat aquatic design though so it's entirely possible the fringe isn't as hard as bone, as you say. Then again, it's also entirely possible the BioWare designers haven't even decided on it themselves. Where does that leave us? >.>

Merely helping them along the right path with our suggestions?

I imagine that - collectively speaking - we've thought about this stuff at least as much as they have.

And the only payment we get for it is the enjoyment of the discussion. I dare say we've gone into a little more depth than some of the designers too.
