Garrus is my favorite squadmate, but out of all the potential squadmates, Kaidan is the probably the best match for Liara, other than Shep of course. In ME1 Kaidan even comments on Liara's attractiveness.
 
I don't see Garrus & Liara as anything other than friends.

I also definitely don't see Liara becoming attracted to Kaiden tbh. It's really weird to talk about a potential other match for Liara since most of the regulars on this topic are all romancing Liara..

Damn. Now that I think about it, Shiala said she followed Benezia for about 200 years, so she might know something about Liara's "dad". At least, some first hand gossip xD

My Shep romanced Liara too, but I don't find the topic odd.

It would be unrealistic for Liara to never have felt attraction for anyone in her life except for Shepard. Personally, I think Liara probably should have been in a relationship or two (even if just casual) at some point between ME1 and ME2.

2 years is a very long time, even for someone who is grieving.

Actually this is pretty much what she says to you in ME1. "I'm only 106 and I have spent most of my time on remote digs, I've never been very interested in this, not until I met you". I think she says it the 3rd time you talk to her.

You're speaking from a meta-perspective and personal aesthetics (which is subjective). 

In game, it's not all that unique...in fact, we hardly see asari with other asari or human women, so pairing up Liara with a turian is hardly unique or interesting within the lore.

Human woman wise we do. We've seen, if you take out Shepard (who has intimate or sexual encounters with Liara, Samara, Morinth, Sha'ira, Shiala, and being hit on by Aethyta), Nef and her relationship with Morinth, and Al-Jilani makes out with an asari. If you put in Shepard, however, that's a lot. Human Male wise, if you don't include Shepard, we've seen Paul, Zaeed, and some crew who might have visit the consort (probably more I can't think of right now). And asari/asari relationship wise, we've seen at least 3 relationship parings, from Liara's dad, to Samara, to Erinya, and see many asari sitting together on the Citadel and Illium, some possibly more then just friendship.

While a female Turian would be interesting. Is that consider wrong to their race? Would dating something completely alien and monogender be considered wrong by a female? What do we know about that?

Your original point was that it would be best for Liara to go for a non-asari given that this would show she's willing to love no matter what the circumstances and that is a positive thing for her character, but you were basing it on physical appearance of the other species and ignroing the fact that, if going by in-game lore, asari/quarian, asari/turain, asari/krogan pairings are not looked down upon by asari and it appears that most other species are fine with asari pairings.  This means it wouldn't require any special character trait for Liara to enter into one of these relationships.  On the other hand, if she were to enter into an asari/asari union, it would definitely require this thing you most wish to see with her character.

It's very unlikely that Liara will be judged harshly for dating a turian but it's very likely that she will be judged harshly for dating another asari, especially considering she's a pureblood herself.

She says she's been too consumed with her research but also clearly states she's never been interested in any sort of romantic involvement until she met Shepard. To me, this is the same as saying she's never truly loved anyone before. I wasn't talking about attraction because she's probably found certain people attractive, but it was never more than that, nor was she interested in it.

Well, she'd be judge by her race, but she's already getting that prejudice. And dating another asari would probably follow the same route we've already been told by others.

Outsider her race, I don't think anyone would care either. Like two asari living on Omega, or the salarian homeworld.

I do think Aria would be a candidate for having an asari/asari relationship. She definitely doesn't seem like she'd shy back from having an erm... "adventure" with another asari one night. Whether that other asari would be Liara... meh
