It's strange that I haven't posted here yet, as Liara is my primary love interest in the game, and I remained loyal to her.
And with all the perks for Shepard that come from being paired up with her, I'd really like to see the fact that she's the Shadow Broker come into play. Maybe even going so far as to get reinforcements against Cerberus from Shadow Broker agents.

Their armor is pretty.

Does anyone have a video of what Liara says if you're faithful to her during the paragon interrupt after the fight with the Spectre? I see alot of videos what she said if you're together with OTHER people, but not if you're faithful

I couldn't find any either, which is odd considering I'm sure I've seen them on youtube before. I should probably upload mine, to fill that void somewhat, but I'm sure there are some out there. Maybe they're just not obviously tagged. D:

Enjoy.

@Brownfinger, go Team Shadow Broker! It would be fun to command the Shadow Brokers private army. Like on Virmire, but Liara gives the orders.

Always nice to see that scene anything that has something to do with Liara, and good job finding it. I was almost convinced everyone who uploaded their Shepard/Liara Illium dialogue was a cheating douche bag. You proved me wrong:)

Anyone afraid that they might downplay Liara's role as the SB. Perhaps even make that part worthless by having Cerberus destroy the base early?

While it's a possibility, I don't think BioWare would build her up to being the Shadow Broker like that and then not utilise it. It would seem pointless. Basic storytelling practice demands that it is an important role in the next Mass Effect. :P

I'm not putting any money on the shadow broker business actually surviving past ME3. Remember with all home planets, governements and what not under attack by the reapers and possibly billions of deaths throughout the galaxy, a lot of the shadow brokers agents, informants and the actual network are going to be destroyed. Even if the base survives it's going to be a long time to set the entire business back up. Since Liara says one of the reasons she takes over the shadow broker's operations is to help shepard deal with the reapers, once this mission is fulfilled, I don't see why she'd keep that business around.

I was referring to the events in ME3. I would think the SB would be important to those. It'd be a shame to make Liara seem so important from a story perspective and then not use that. After ME3, well... it rather depends on how it ends... but all bets are off, methinks.

Well she could be important as the shadow broker at first, by giving Shepard a bunch of intel and other useful information, and later on as a squadmember to help shepard fight. I'm really not sure what to expect right now (which is fine btw, I like pleasant surprises) but my hope is on Liara giving intel at first, after which the shadow broker's base hopefully gets destroyed (with liara making it out in time of course). Then she becomes a squaddie for the rest of the game. And after the game... with the base destroyed she has nowhere to go but with Shepard :)

Sounds good to me!

I'll feel bad for Liara though. She spends all that time tracking the Shadow Broker, only to lose that tool quite soon after gaining it. Then again, she has Shepard back so I'm sure she won't mind too much. >.>

Don't feel too bad. She hunted the shadow broker to rescue feron. With the shadow broker gone, she assumed that position mostly because it would be a great help. I don't think she'd have felt that bad if the information network could not have been saved. And after it's gone (possibly in ME3) she can finally let go of that part of her life, as I'm sure thinking about the shadow broker will cause her to think about the 2 year period while Shepard was dead. With the last thing that remembers her of that time finally gone, she'll be able to let it rest and really move on.

While I do not have anything against the SB base being destroyed. I would hate if it was made so that as soon Liara hands over whatever vital intel Shepard needs. The base is attacked and destroyed, turning Liara's knowlegde and position into a simple plot device.

I agree, it would be really weird if the base were destroyed right after Liara gave you some important intel. But I think it would also make for a really great and potentially tragic plot point if something were to happen to it while Shepard is not there. For example Shepard is somewhere in deep space and the shadow broker base is attacked, as well as another point in the game where another character (important npc) is holed up. And shepard has to choose between saving Liara or saving the other. Obviously my Shepard will always save Liara but it would make for a much more exiting and dramatic game.

So another Vimire choice? That is a possible way to do it. I always wondered what the cost for saving Liara should be then? Another character?

If such a situation occour and Liara is romanced would she (sorta like the VS) tell that while she is grateful for him saving her, she had a hard time accepting that someone died in her stead. And given the current situation he might have to choose between her and something else again, but the price for saving her will be far greater. Something she might be able to accept.

Everyone else has the potential to die in Mass Effect, I suppose it will be Liara's turn in ME3. Once she's served her purpose the plot armour will be removed. D:

I don't think they would remove her plot armor for something like what the Suicide Mission is.

She'd probably be like ME3's mix of Morrigan and Anders, plot armor wise.

I don't think Liara will *ever* lose her plot armor, but that's just my me talking.

That's hardly reassuring given that both Morrigan and Anders can die after triggering the final act and that this is the final part of the trilogy.

I highly doubt that she will die let alone be "able to die" but we will have to see. If she is able to die because I screwed up something in the game I will completely reset my save to fix it, I'm not going to let that happen no matter what.

My thoughts exactly. If I have to go back and start all over again from ME I will but I really hope BioWare won't do that. At the very least if she has to die they must put an awful lot of meaning behind it Posted Image
I suppose I could live with Liara dying to save the galaxy but I'd rather sacrifice Shepard as mean as that may sound.

I imagine that she'll be able to die, but (hopefully) won't be forced to die. I mean, once her plot-armor is removed, the Shepard armor comes into effect, and that's pretty damn impenetrable, as far as I'm concerned.

Bad Guy: Shepard... you must choose between saving Liara, and sa--
Shepard: Liara
Bad Guy: ... Um... don't you want to hear what the other choice was?
Shepard: Nope. Doesn't matter. Liara it is.
Bad Guy: But... but the other option is Earth. Didn't you grow up there?
Shepard: Yeah, but it's kind of become a ****hole recently. Besides, I found this amazing Mexican place on the Citadel a few weeks ago, and that's all I really needed from Earth.

Liara will probably feel really guilty over Shepard choosing to save her life instead of another, but in the end I think she'll, like Kaidan/Ashley, respect Shepard's decision to keep her alive. And as for the price... no cost is too great if it means saving Liara. In this case, my Shepard will turn from galaxy's hero into a completely selfish dude, intend on saving his love and the one who never gave up on him. (Unlike some other people in the series! Not mentioning any names of course)

I will go one step further, if it turns out Liara has died because of something I have screwed up in ME1, I'll immediately remove that character in ME3 and ME2, then restart that character in ME1 to fix whatever I've screwed up.

Liara needs another plot armor. They have a great opportunity to bring her back for future Mass Effect games. Just imagin you play a new Mass Effect game, everything is different until someone says:" We need more information, let us contact the Shadow Broker...."  :o

Excellent, Marshal. This sums up how my Shepard feels too. Although, she grew up in space so I think she's probably even less attached to Earth. :P

I'm not sure I want to see future releases with Liara in it. Sure, I'd quite like to see her again, but it's going to be so hard trying to keep her neutral to everyone's play through. Everyone will have constructed a slightly different version of Liara and the events in their games are going to be very different. Even set hundreds of years into the future, they're going to have affected her in some way. If it can be done, then sure, even if they allow you to make choices in how your Shepard is referenced within the game. It's likely she'll still think of her after all.
