Yeah Shepard dies but guess who saves his body from the Collectors? Liara! (not Ashley, not Kaidan, not Garrus, not Tali, not Wrex) I love her, and frankly am glad she has managed to survive thus far.
When I referred to Shepard's death, I was actually meaning the possible death at the end of ME2. But, yes, I'm glad for Liara too. I would never want her to die and I don't think any one who's a regular in this thread would either.

Indeed. Liara has been the second most important character in ME universe. Contributing the most of all squadmates. Althrough I think do Wrex (and perhaps Tali) does not deserve criticism.

Maybe it's because Liara's still a maiden, barely an adult in Asari terms - Bioware has a history of not allowing children to be killed.
Of course, now that I think about that, it puts her romance in a somewhat different light.
I have extensive thoughts that I'd like to share on this subject.
Samara equates entering the Maiden stage as the asari version of puberty.
An asari on Illium talks about finally moving out of her family's house
now that she's fourty. I think we can deduce that fourty is the asari
equivalent of eighteen.
Furthermore, the 106 year old Liara talks about spending "most of her *adult* life studying the Protheans", which was about fifty years. Thus implying that she is physically an adult and has been for a while.
Taking all of this into acount; I think we can resolutely say that Liara is definitely an adult.

Yep, I absolutely agree with your quick analysis. I'm sure there's other snippits of dialogue that back this up too.

I also agree with the quick analysis, although I'm pretty sure the asari on illium said she was 60 years old, not 40. Also, Samara says Morinth went on the run when she was 40, and that in asari terms it was 'very young'. Judging from the tone she says that with, I think the age of 40 would be like 15 - 16 in human years. Close to adult but still very young. Whereas at the age of 55 - 60 an asari would be considered an adult. The rest of the theory fits, with Liara being very mature for a maiden asari I think she would've left Benezia at the age of 55, studying the protheans for 50 years. Which puts her at 105... that's only 1 year off.
And let's not forget when she says 'barely a child' she means she was considered a child just 50 years ago. But for Asari 50 years is nothing. Which is why she says 'Barely'. Like grunt says in ME2 about a salarian's (35 - 40 year) life span: "What is that? A week?".
@Centauri
More blue is always welcome right? But did you have to post pictures where Liara looks sad?

Yes, I did. I picked all the non-positive ones (bar the final). No little blue children line for my RenShep. >.>
@MGIII: I don't like it either. Strangely, the one she wore back on Illium looks better, even though it's the same design. >.>

I approve of this idea!
Awww....this pictures made me sad, now I have to play LOTSB und let my Shepard make it up to her.
She was only sad before my RenShep got around to... uh... making amends.

Playing ME1 and talking to Liara just after recruiting her (when she talks about the crew not trusting her) and replying positively also lets you forget sad Liara...
Replying negatively and you're basicly a candidate for being pushed down some conveniently placed stairs (Right blue brigade?

Sounds a bit like my version (granted I take the worried option). But no little blue children and instead brood about low survival odds? Your Shepard sure is a joykiller.

Convenient stairs, indeed!
There's quite a number of opportunities in ME1 to bring on that blue smile. On Noveria, for example. I like her reaction when you tell her you trust her.
@Lizard: That's not my canon Shepard though. Kristen is always positive with Liara.

Indeed, that one is lovely. I've actually never used the neutral or renegade option there so I have no clue as to what she says when you say you don't trust her (though I imagine it won't be pretty. And suddenly a set of stairs appear next to Shepard...)

I actually pick the middle option where Shepard ask "If it were between me and Benezia, who would you side with?", I like how she respond firmly with that she meant what she said before about being on his side, and that if he would like her to remain behind on the Normandy, then she would do it. Then my Shepard picks the "I trust you option".
I guess I just wants some conflict or source of drama in the relationship, I hate to say it but the Ashley/Kaidan romance just has something that the Liara romance lacks. Perhaps it's because Liara has less conversations? Or perhaps it's just my disapointment with how Benezia was handled? Perhaps the "daughter of the enemy" angle should have been played on more?
Hopefully I won't be thrown face first down a set of stairs for saying that!

That, and my RenShep just really wants to be with Aria. >.>
Good. Because we don't tolerate Sad!Liara in here!
