Perhaps if Liara is present during such a meeting. One would launch a mocking remark at Liara that has something to do with Benezia or her being pureblood?

In such a situation would it be considered a political faux pas to either Vanguard Charge or throw Grunt at the offending Asari?

If Liara is along for the ride then my Shepard would treat Thessia like her in-laws home. If a fight starts then either the in-law or Liara starts it. My Shepard will play nice until Liara gives the green light and even then ... awkward!

This is Liara's home world. My poor Shep will feel like Anjin-san in Shogun ... a barbarian. God forbid if she tastes some food or drink and its hideous. Taste, gag, swallow, uncomfortable smile. Posted Image Yes, that happened to me before.

I'm sticking more to Adrenalin rush + Shepard punch.

I'm playing ME1 right now, and I want to discuss Liara's mom for a minute.

So from what I understand, B somehow got in contact with Saren before he started doing all kinds of crazy stuff (like Edan Prime). She knew he was bad. But instead of trying to kill him, or convince others as to why she thinks he's bad, she instead joins him in order to "talk him out of being a bad guy", while also bringing her Asari commandos to his side as well...

Also, how did they meet? And why did he tell her his plans? I mean, she knew enough that she wanted to stop him (and again, this is before anything major happens), and was offered to join him. And she had enough time to talk to her commandos, and ask if they will join her with her plan.

I mean, did Saren just post a job posting saying "Hey, in need of Asari Commandos for crazy mission. Matriarch's are a plus"?

Liara won't talk about her mother to my Shepard, but then again my Shep won't talk about her parents (Mindoir, you know) Posted Image

I would really like to know Benezia's history .... I would gather that she knew Saren previously since she felt that she could change him. I also think Liara knew him since her "bastard" remark seems more personal than just an observation, at least to me.

She probably will refer her to the equipment on the normandy that lets you heal those scars eventually though..

What do you guys use to take screenshots anyway? While it worked nicely before... the old fashioned printscreen then copy to paint doesn't seem to work any more

Nah, Liara isn't shallow. :P

I use Fraps for my screenies and my video capture. :)

Benezia and Saren having history. That'd be interesting. Though it's probably too late to learn about that.

Then again, maybe it's for the best. Don't want any retcons, saying they had a romance subplot. And that's why Liara's mom left Aethyta, because Benezia was cheating on her with Saren, and Saren is really Liara's father. And the pure blood thing was all bull****.

I didn't mean history of the romantic kind ... although, it would make that grabbing her face in his hands and then calming down make more sense. Posted Image

Liara's daddy? Please no Posted Image .......... "Luke Liara, I'm your father."

He probably met Benezia years after Liara was born and may have even approached her after becoming allies with the reaper. Or he did write a killer ad "Matriarch wanted, must love talking space ships" ...  he was "charismatic", as said by an asari once.

In one of my game plays, Benezia confided in her daughter of her well-intentioned but crazy plan and sent her away with strict instructions to "tell anyone who asks that we haven't spoken in years." She believed that she was strong enough, but also wanted to protect her daughter.

In another game play, Saren kept pressuring Benezia to have her daughter join the cause so Benezia drove Liara away, telling her that she was a disappointment, wasting her gifts, etc .... which made her "I've always been proud of you" on Noveria mean even more.

So maybe it is good that we don't know .. it allows us to come from different angles.

Well there's no worry about Saren being Liara's father Liara is a "pureblood" Asari.

That and Liara was born in 2077 while Saren was born 2139 ... Unless I am wrong and things really change in the future, I don't think it is possible to create a child before you are born.Posted Image

You know we have one more Matriarch in our back pocket to call in a favour from, if your Shepard saved the Destiny Ascension (Matriarch Lidanya). Though we never meet her I'm sure she would be a little grateful and give us a little support on Thessia if she's there.

Wow TMA, You do have a lot of imagination...
Best thing to do is to let this subject rest. There's a lot of more important things BioWare can put in ME3. Exploring the history of Saren and Benezia (and how they got in touch in the first place) would be unimportant since, you know, both of them are dead. But Benezia leaving Aethyta to join/help saren (not romantically of course) would be a valid point if Liara hadn't stated she was raised by her mother and didn't know her father. So Benezia and Aethyta broke up... for lack of a better word.. before or just after Liara was born. Which was many decades before Saren was even born..

I wouldn't mind a Liara/Aethyta reunion and then Aethyta, at Liara's behest, telling Shepard/Liara why exactely it didn't work out between  her and benezia...(Though I imagine their age might have had something to do with it as well)

I'm rather interested in this as well. If, as we assume, Aethyta is Liara's father then I find it unlikely that the pureblood factor is what drove Benezia and her apart. Aethyta doesn't seem like the kind of person to care what her peers think. So it must be deeper than that. Perhaps it was Benezia's ideals she didn't agree with. They both seem very opinionated and I'm sure that would have caused a number of arguments. They had enough in common to attract them to one another though, and for them to decide to have a child together.

It's intriguing. ^_^

Most likely they just didn't agree on their ideals. B was a teacher of religion and philosophy, and Aethyta seems to hate art and philosophy. They both agree that the asari should play a bigger role, but in different ways. B probably wanted it done the more traditional way, while Aethyta believed the asari needs to reinvent themselves. B likes to talk people out of stuff (like Saren), while Aethyta likes to beat people to death with their own spine. I'm sure having a pure blooded daughter played a part in it, but everyone already knows Liara's pureblood. They know B is the mother. The only thing being hidden is who the father is. And I don't see Aethyta wanting to remain a secret, since I doubt she cares. Most likely B just thought Aethyta was a bad influence, and wanted her gone.

Here's something:

Benezia was a Binary Helix investor and a executive secretary. Considering Peak15 was most likely were working on the Rachni for years, most likely she met him that way. Though why B would be interested in working for biotechnology and genetic engineering company before Saren took control over her (shrugs).

And her plan against Saren sounds pretty bad. I mean, Liara knows him for having a bad reputation, and even calls him a turian bastard. There's nothing about him that make it seem like he could be persuade to not be a bad guy.

Problem is, it's not like Aethyta and Benezia both developed those ideals (Benezia:"Art, literature are important" Aethyta: "Get those maidens working already! And get rid of that art and philosofy junk.") overnight. If A and B had a child together you'd think they'd understand eachothers viewpoints and ideals before they... went at it. But the way A called B a 'screw up with saren' also indicates they didn't really part on friendly terms. I'm really curious as to what really happened. But whether this will be explained in ME3.. I won't hold my breath.

Maybe they got into an argument about how to raise Liara.
I mean you can accept different viewpoints, but when it comes to how to raise your child, that's a touchy subject.
It would make, Liara working in her maiden years, so ironic.

^ This is really funny:lol: Nice job showing Garrus (or anyone) what happens when you mess with Shepard's girl.
