Speaking of which, what was your first reaction when TIM said "I hear she's working for Shadow Broker. If so, she can't be trusted"?

Aka, your old girlfriend can't be trusted.

My first reaction was: "Yeah right, you've got to do better than that. Now how do I get to Illium?"

I RP it as either a) he didn't actually say she was on Illium or B) Shepard mishears him.  'Cause seriously, if she knew that Liara was on Illium, where do you think her first stop would be?

Liara: Why didn't Shepard come looking for me when she knew where I was?

Since Shepard is a professional (super) soldier I RP it like he can put the mission before his relationship with Liara at this point. With all that's going on, teaming up with Joker again and being given command of a new ship, as well as the mission, he doesn't have time to think about this. After Horizon however... it was never that easy to determine the next stop.

People should also consider the fact that Shepard does not know how Liara is at this point. She might have moved on. So barging in might not seem like a good idea.

One of the things I'm looking forward to in ME3 is where Shepard and Liara are headed, assuming you stuck it out with her. Would be cool to see her show-up at your trial on Earth; after all, you'd think your girlfriend would be present at the book-throw despite her responsibilites. Aside from their fate, however, I'm intensely curious as to how she fits into the overall storyline as The Broker. From the bits and pieces released, the devs seem to hint at her being intrinsic to the plot of the final game. I'm imagining as The Broker, she acquires some sort of information that helps joint-forces eradicate the Reaper threat.

Since Shepard is a professional (super) soldier

Personally I think that whilst Shepard may be willing to look into the abductions for TIM, the leader of a terrorist organisation, she'll not be a "professional soldier" in service of Cerberus.
[For all she knows the VS is right about TIM orchestrating the whole abduction business - and talking to a information broker of her choice (rather than "experts" put forward by TIM) would probably be a good idea]

Edit: Also, it's not like Shepard had anything better to do whilst she was waiting for the Collectors to make their next move.

Colly will return to Liara no matter what, even the coming trial will not stop her from it.

Fan: Will imported Shepards who never pursued a romance in ME1 or ME2 get a chance at love in #ME3, or is he/she single for life?

Casey: Of course, #ME3 has entry points into the different story arcs for all players, including people totally new to the series.

I think a strong reason why I love Liara so much is knowing that she is "female"...Yet, with another female, can have children. Of course there are millions of other reasons, too.
If gays/lesbians had that opportunity, I'm sure none would let it down.

I love her because she is down right beautiful, intelligent, witty, strong(biotic wise), adorable, blue, has blue eyes, is female, and has true emotion when it comes to the other squaddies. Most of the time when I talk to someone other than Liara, I cringed to hit the X button to skip dialogue. I'm a straight male and would not never let an opportunity like this leave my side *sigh*

Yes, this has a wonderful appeal to lesbians, I cannot deny. It's the icing on the cake, you could say. If you're so inclined to have children, that is. My Shepard's just glad she doesn't have to carry the child. She's been through immeasurable difficulties throughout her life, fought the biggest threat to the galaxy and even died... and yet the thought of carrying a child within her for months terrifies her. >.>

This would be plain rediculous in Liara's case from a story point of view. Sure Liara has always been interested in Shepard but I don't see her starting a romance while 1. The entire known galaxy is being destroyed and 2. She's the shadow broker. I'll probably never see a situation where Shepard turned Liara down in ME1, didn't pursue a romance in ME2 and suddenly hooks up with Liara at the worst possible time in ME3...But still, the fact that it's hinted at this being actually possible is just... wrong imo. Am I the only one who feels this way?

This is true. Although I meant the 'professional soldier' as in professional and experienced enough to know when and how to stop thinking about your own feelings and emotions and put all your focus on the current mission. Also, my Shepard never denied that he only worked with cerberus for the sake of humanity, by no means did he join up with them or intend to stay with Cerberus after the destruction of the collectors.

As for Ash/Kaidan's speech on horizon; it was exactely what Miranda said: "You focus so much on cerberus you're ignoring the real threat" and I'm inclined to agree with her on that one. Ash/Kaidan suggesting Cerberus is working with the reapers is just plain rediculous. I was wondering why there was no "How did the council manage to brainwash you?" dialogue option, as it's obvious something happened to them while Shepard was gone.

@Robhuzz - I don't necessarily disagree, but it's not like they're jumping into ME3 with a clean slate. There's a backstory between the two of them. They have a history together, regardless of what it may be. As for starting up the relationship at a bad time, it's not as though they're gonna be munching popcorn and holding hands while the Reapers are blowing up Earth. It's gonna be a romance just like any of the others in ME1/ME2, where the relationship grows despite all the crap that's going on around them.

Granted I'll never see it, but I wouldn't want to deprive someone who wants to RP that it took them until ME3 to realize who they wanted.

True, it's a RP experience and I'll never get to see it (cause that'd mean rejecting Liara in ME1 and I simply won't do that). But it just seems strange to me that Liara is pretty much ready to call off the relationship after Lotsb (although it saddens her greatly if you do) and she'd be willing to start a new relationship with Shepard in ME3, if you've never pursued one, I just think something like that doesn't fit her character at this point.

Wait, there's a good chance I can romance Liara without putting up with the ME1 version? *cue marching band* I will never like her in ME1, but her new incarnation is catnip.

I think it's just as ridiculous for the pair to continue their romance in spite of:

1. The entire known galaxy is being destroyed and 2. She's the shadow broker.

Yet it does continue and wonderfully so.

As a matter of fact, Casey's recent comments on ME3 seem to indicate that romance will be covering more ground this time around, as it is the final resolution.

Of course, and why couldn't it start up in ME3 if the feelings were always there?

I can see it happening in ME3. They'll be together again, and I doubt Liara's feelings have changed. All Shepard has to do is ask, "Is it too late for love?". And considering the end of the galaxy hasn't happened yet, I doubt it's too late.

If you can, indeed, romance Liara anew in ME3, then that opens up some RP options for their romance. You can choose to ask to be friends at the end of LotSB and then pick it up again in M3, for example.

That'd also be good. Some Shepards might want to take things slow instead of jumping into things. Get a chance to go on dates and such.

Do you think she would go back with Shepard after all that? I think if you say you want to stay as friends with her, you shouldn't be able to get back with her, in my honest opinion. Speaking of which, do you think it would be possible to not romance anyone in ME1 and ME2, than start a romance with Liara in ME3? Highly doubtful but you never know.

Shep: Wow the CGI on this vid is amazing! You could actually believe the earth is being destroyed.
Liara: Um, that's the view screen, the earth really is being destroyed.
Shep: Okay drunky, no more beer for you.

Shepard romancing Thane is the most irresponsible, he's hallucinogenic.

Apparently Casey Hudson confirmed in a twitter message that this is in fact, possible. I can see some good role playing options for this but I'm still not convinced it's actually a good thing to be able to romance Liara after saying no to her in ME1 or ME2.
