If we get to Thessia I hope we get the possiblity of teaming up with Samara. Samara and Liara would make the squad a biotic powerhouse
Team Asari FTW.
I really want to know how Liara and Samara would interact. I'm really not sure that they'd get along but the dynamics between an older and younger Asari is something BioWare could really explore to flesh out the Asari culture.

[Sorry. She lost any sympathy I might have had for her situation when she decided that murdering a couple of police officers was a good idea]

Well, if there's a single species that Shepard has to recruit that has everything to do with politics; dollars to doughnuts it will be the asari. So right now, I'd be guessing that the Thessia missions will have the least opportunities for combat.
I think it also means that Liara will have a pivotal role in that particular quest line. In ME2, Nyxeris said that "she could have even more political power than she already wields", the foreshadowing potential of which I may be inferring myself, but I think it's a valid point to remember nonetheless.
And let's not forget that she also has top-level access to the asari government. I'm sure that'd be handy.
Now, it's too early to make any sort of logic-based predictions, but maybe she'll be in a position similar to the one Alistair was in at the Landsmeet?

I don't know what kind of conflict there will be on the Asari homeworld. Perhaps the Reapers have managed infiltrate whatever sort of council they have in order to stall the war effort. Or perhaps they are just stuck in politics, indecisive about what to do.
If it's the former then Samara would easily have an important role in order to snuff out any rotten apples. IF it's the latter then Liara could be more vital (but there will still be room for good ol' Samara to show off).

Would be very nice, although since Liara (probably) broke a few laws during her information broker business, they might not be very good friends. I imagine Samara will let this slide under the circumstances though it would be a potentially dramatic and awesome scene if Samara decides to try and kill Liara, with Shepard intervening and protecting Liara.
Since BioWare is already thinking about fleshing out the Liara/Aethyta story line, I doubt any real interaction between Liara/Samara beyond normal party banter is highly unlikely. But still
More Liara = Better Game

Samara would undoubtly "challenge" Liara on her actions in the past two years.

She mentions everyone expecting her to follow in Benezia's footsteps. But from the way she says this in ME1, she's not about to do so.
IF Bioware is gearing Liara to be a supposed great asari unifier or leader...then she will rise to the challenge. i hope they dont take that route. Liara....the Asari Messiah.....doesnt quite work. Aethyta would better fit that role...ESPECIALLY during a time of war on the scale of the reaper invasion. i mean she is a matriach and the whole respect your elder thing...and she kinda foretold something big happening.

I agree 100%. Of all the things Liara is, a real leader is not one of them. Sure she can manage the shadow broker archives which is (probably) a hellishly difficult task, but really getting into politics, I don't ever see Liara go there. Also, it appears Aethyta already tried to go into politics (although the codex about asari society states the asari don't have a real governement) but her ideas were not shared on thessia. Actually, Aethyta is exactly what the asari need in a time of war, and I can see her taking a leading role in asari society after the defeat of the reapers.
Also, any potential daughters of Liara/Shepard would be great leaders, with Shepard's skills like determination, natural leadership and Liara's intelligence and other skills being a great help there.

Matriarch Aethyta was annoying to me and not a character that I wanted to see again ... Then everyone started saying "Liara's father." Crap! Please say it isn't so! My LiaraShep is in for a tough time ... First kill reapers and then pretend to like bartender Asari ... Just like real life - blending with in-laws.
Since Liara is still so young, who knows who she will be or what she will do in the next 200, 400, 600 years. Can you imagine living that long? Look at the changes humans experience in just 20, 40, 60 years. The guy who was a punker in his youth grew up and became a bank manager, the goth girl turned elementary school teacher ... just two examples of changes. When my friends & I look at where we started and compare to where we are now ... Night & Day!

Happy to confirm #ME3 supports wider options for love interests incl. same-sex for m&f chars, reactive to how you interact w/them in-game.
I actually hope that if you had a romance with somebody in the earlier games. Then you won't be able to romance someone new in ME3.

If people want to change up in ME3 I'm good with that ... it would have been nice if that option had been there from ME1 - But better late than never. Now my 3 Shepards are good with their choices, but Shepard 4 is open to change.

I'll just cringe if I have to go through another barrage of "MY SHEP FINALLY DITCHED DUMB LIARA AND TAPPED MIRANDA INSTEAD!! L O L!" on this forum like just after ME2 was released.

That makes sense ... I wasn't thinking of it that way.
I just look at it as opening up the female/female & male/male option to players that would have liked that but weren't given it at the start. Yes, you had Liara for the f/f ... but to be honest Liara isn't everyone's taste (that is ok) and I am sure that there are those that picked her due to no other f/f option.
My Shepard with Liara wouldn't rush off to another female in the game but that is solely my game.

M/M romances huh? Please don't let them make the same mistake as in DA2 where kaidan suddenly turned bi. And no male npc hitting on my male Shepard please, or it's airlock time *Evil grin*
As for the romances in earlier games. I can't imagine Shepard (with his/her earlier LI around) can just go flirting around with another npc he/she rejected earlier and have the others stay silent. In this case, I'd rather see some proper reprecussions (Like your old LI dumping you in front of

LOL!!! Just remember that we are all dating a unique Liara ...
My poor Liara has such a defective Shepard (no marriage, no blue babies, no easy life) ... we should hope that my femshep leaves her. But poor Dr. Liara T'Soni won't walk away, no matter how much my femshep pushes .. It seems that my extremely damaged Shepard is her catnip.
Your Liara is protected in your world with a good Shepard (?), so these "other world" Liara's getting dumped are better off for it, given the Shepard's that they were with ....

I would agree if the options are just new romances (ME1 vs ME2) but this is m/m & f/f opening up ... Why should the player be "punished" for an option that should have been there from the start? Funny, in hearing their players feedback and trying to be reactive they have given themselves more headaches on how to handle this.
A good deed never goes unpunished!

The only way this will affect me, is if they do something to 'break' the current relationship in order to give other players a way into one.
Which sounds like something they would do.
Though I can't imagine the Liara romance affected by this 'change' anyways.
