That would be my Shepard that loves Ashley, felt really hurt after Horizon and ended up with Miranda. He likes Miranda, even cares about her ... but he still loves Ash. He is in deep sh^t and I can't wait to play him in ME3 ... poor schmuck.

In the real world I have dated people that I liked ... loved? nope. liked? yes.

Now if the gamer is saying that they "disliked/hated" the character but romanced them anyway ... that is a WTF? I can't say that I've dated someone I dislike ... grew to dislike? yes. Started out at dislike? Nope.

Maybe they dated Liara for her money? 

Seriously, I'm with you - I couldn't have my Shepard date an in-game character that I couldn't stand.

Since there aren't going to be any new LIs in ME3, if there are going to be same-sex romace options availble, it's obvious that they're going have to make some of the old LI's 'newly available' to same-sex partners.  And the only way to show that they're interested is for them to actually clearly state so.  None of the romances ever "force" you into the relationship, and in fact for most of the ME2 relationships it's Shepard who does the initial flirtation.  As for NPCs expressing interest, you can react to being hit on however you wish.  I mean, did you flip out over Tali expressing interest in you?  Or Miranda?  Or did you simply say "not interested" and move on with your life?

Well, it depends. Example, unless I'm roleplaying, I'd never do Morrigan's DR, or keep her as a romance. Yet I did, because I wanted a character for Awakening and Witchhunt within the same save. However, I wouldn't say I'd never be interesting in romancing her, or don't like parts of her character. So at least I romanced with some interest and liking.

But not liking anything about a character, but romances them anyways? That just sounds like someone just wants to dick around with a person's feelings.

Please note: I'm in no way saying I don't like Liara as a squadmate. I LOVE her. The thing is, I just think she's discrete and smart enough to stay on the Shadow Broker's base (or move it/make a new one) instead of running n' gunning with Shepard. It's a heavy risk, ya' know...

I thought tali suddenly showing an interest in Shepard was rather adorable, but not wanting to cheat on Liara, he said 'not interested' and moved on with his life. About the 'showing interest' part, I was trying to refer back to DA2 where Anders had never shown any inclination towards being bi in awakening and suddenly he is in DA2, this just stuck me as lazyness on BioWare's part and I was really dissapointed. I was hoping BioWare wouldn't force this on ashley/kaidan as well but this seems unlikely now...

I don't think it's laziness on the part of the writers that they didn't have DAA Anders say "I like boys AND girls!" any more than it's laziness on their part that we come to find out Miranda isn't a cold-hearted ****.  Not everything about someone is readily apparent or readily shared, nor is someone's sexuality necessarily a defining characteristic of who they are (unless they choose it to be).  If we're basing someone's future actions based solely on what they've done in the past, then Liara wouldn't be available to either sex because she was a virgin when Shepard picked her up on Therum.

As for Ashley/Kaidan, they were originally slated in ME1 to be available to both sexes (going so far as to have Meer/Hale record voicework for both romance scenes).  So 'retconning' them isn't really quite the stretch that some people are making it out to be.

I saw it on a photo for gameinformer and was a little shocked they were not changing a thing about her costume, don't get me wrong the costume looks great, but the whole "butt cape" seems a little too silly for Liara's standards.

I'm just glad they aren't 'mirandafying' her like they seem to be doing with Ashley, I'll take her Lotsb armor (which i think looks very nice) over a catsuit any day.

Not sure.  I wouldn't consider any of the models "finished" at this point.  They're likely just using Liara's LotSB model as a stand-in for the GI shoot since Liara is the one character who was guaranteed to be in ME3 at that point (other than the VS).

I wouldn't mind her LotSB outfit being standard, but I'm sure they're going to modify it slightly (like they did for Garrus' armor for ME1->ME2) if they decide to keep it.  I'm still hoping for separate casual/combat outfits which are customizable.

Combat gear on the other hand, as genetically enhanced as Miranda may be the achilles is just not meant to stand up to that kind on punishment.

The LotSB outfit looks great and manages to keep up the pretence of practical use. Still I'd be happy seeing Liara in something new.

I wouldn't complain about some casual wear either, as long as it's 1. Not trashy and 2. Not worn into combat. (Not meant as hate towards miranda btw, thought I'd mention that just in case...)
