Where was the banter from your crew? Image IPB

Let's hope that in the real game Liara and Garrus would say something during the fight.

Every time I see something that's missing or not quite polished, I just rub my temples and repeat:

9 more months of development time...  9 more months of development time...

Realistically they have 5-6 months left ... They have to have the game completed, QA'd, approved and delivered to their replication partner so they can start the mastering/replication/packaging/distribution process, so deduct at least 3 months from the street date. The distribution facilities to stores like Wal-mart will require product in their warehouses 3 weeks, at the latest, before street date.

There isn't much time left to get the game ready ... has Ali Hillis started her VA work yet like Seth Green? If she hasn't, that may explain why she wasn't heard in the demo. I liked Bring Down The Sky except for the fact that whoever you took with you didn't talk. Image IPB    When it comes to Mass Effect - silence is not golden.

True enough, but 5-6 months is still a hell of a long time, even if it's just for polish and finishing. At this point I doubt there's much in the game that hasn't at least had groundwork laid for it yet.

ME3 looks like an epic war game. So information and communication will be a big problem. There will be chaos all over the galaxy and everybody will fight for their lifes. I don't think Hagalaz will be of any big use to Shepard, after they attack.
So I want to pick her up as soon as possible and hope she brings all the information we will need :)

And I support blue lips and paragon hugs for ME3!

I think you guys are over-estimating how quickly the Reapers will move. The original trailer said "2 million dead in the first day, another 7 million by the end of the first week." That's faster than any conventional war, sure, but presently there are close to 7 billion people living on Earth, and I imagine in 200 years there will be more. The Reapers won't be done with Earth for at least a month, and that's a lot of time that can be used to coordinate the galactic defenses, taking the pulse of the various civilizations to see what they need and directing resources there, and what better way to do that than with the most complete and perfect network of information in the entire galaxy?

NO NO NO for Liara being a Justicar!

The girl has been a lonely archeologist for most of her life. Hell, she was a 106 year-old virgin (was, until Shepard). And now you people are clamoring her to become a warrior monk who "forswears family, children, and possession" and risks her life very day hunting down evil? How cruel can you be? And have you people forgot that she is much more of an intellectual than a soldier?

In my universe, Liara will do just fine being the Shadow Broker, doing whatever it takes to help Shepard save the galaxy and maintain its stability. Thank you very much.

No one's clamoring for that.  The Justicar thing is an observation that was made on another forum, that was cross-posted here, that the things on her forehead in the picture of her alternate appearance armor in the DLC pack in the CE of ME3, look kind of like the doodads Samara, a Justicar, has on her forehead.  They look similar.  That's it.  Everything else is people blowing this out of proportion.

I'm inclined to agree, just the fact that Liara is seen in a picture wearing the same getup as samara (which is not even confirmed to be 'justicar gear' rather it's just a personal outfit that Samara (probably) likes to wear doesn't in any way mean Liara would become a justicar. Not only that but I remember samara saying asari won't become justicars unless they have a personal reason. Besides, what use will a justicar be in the war against the reapers. This is no more than wild speculation that's based on a single picture and lots and lots of misinterpretations.

You realise that to anyone who romanced a human, that would mean necrophilia? :?

I support moar prothean expert-Liara. In my opinion, that was a very appealing trait of hers that got sidelined in ME2.

Well, from what we saw in the demo we won't be seeing much prothean expert-Liara. We'll be seeing more itchy trigger finger Liara in ME3. Though those were just a few minutes of action packed stuff, I wonder what the rest of the game will bring. Must... avoid...spoilers... desperately!

Thinking of it. I am quite glad Bioware has not given Liara the Ash/Miri treatment for ME3.

Anyone else sharing the same thoughts?

Yeah. She's beautiful and a sexy, but not a bloody super model trying to show off the latest fashion while on the battle field.

In the time of Mass Effect 3, Earth's population is 11.4 billion.  If you only kill 10 million a week, it would take slightly over ten years to kill half the population.  I expect the death rate might climb as more Reapers land, but this does bring home the fact that Reaping a high population world is slow and painstaking; this is also in line with everything that Vigil told us near the end of ME1 about how long it took to genocide the Protheans.

I think a "one month" estimate is quite low.  I would not expect them to  be done with the place for at least six months, and that's assuming they really ramp up their game from the initial invasion.

There will be time to coordinate a counter attack to liberate occupied worlds, including Earth.  But its likely one of those things that we'll only get one chance to try, so we better make it count.

It is strange how they managed to strike a perfect balance with Liara's armor. But now then insist on giving Ashley a catsuit on to run around in the battlefield.

@Marshal
I thought it had been pretty much confirmed there will be dlc after ME3 so yes, that seems to indicate Shepard will be surviving ME3 in most playthroughs. I'm actually wondering how hard it'll be to kill Shepard in ME3 since nothing but deliberately messing up the suicide mission could kill Shepard in ME2. Not that I want Shepard to get killed, couldn't bear to see Liara's reaction if that happened...

@Lizard
A reversed ending with Liara being apparently gone and Shepard worried would be awesome. Include some sad tune and a properly done 'sad Shepard' and it would be a great scene. I'd certainly be glued to my screen if that happened. It goes without saying Liara will actually have to survive that part though...

I know this is an old post, but I feel compelled to respond.

This would be awesome if it happened that way, and after we see Liara alive would be the moment when Shepard finally breaks.  For three games he's been invincible every second of every day because everyone needed him to be.  At the end of the war, with Liara still alive, he can finally put his burdens down, at least for a bit, and let someone else take care of him.

If you just heard what Casey said, as well as all of the action going on there, I think nothing short of a miracle can get shepard and crew through this with no losses. While there will probably be a lot of sadness after ME3 I'm looking forward to (and I really hope something like this is in ) Shepard and Liara just flying into eachother's arms, holding eachother and comforting eachother for several minutes, while it sinks in that it's finally over. The dark shadow that has hanged over the galaxy since before the two even met is finally gone, and they can now really enjoy their lives together.

If this is not in the game, then my headcanon and imagination wills it to be so.

I'm so hyped by the E3 movie now... Incredible, I'm going into cryostasis right now, somebody wake me up march 6th

Did you know that blue has been my favorite color my whole life?

It's no wonder that little blue lady makes me weak.....

Same here.  I know that the asari were originally designed to be the "sexy blue alien" race (and that may have been part of the initial appeal to me), but they and Liara have grown so far beyond their original design in my mind that they're one of the more interesting races in the ME-verse.

This I agree with, while the asari were put in the game as a fan service, and most asari still live up to this idea by dancing in bars, Liara is so much more than a pretty blue alien. Her personality, spirit and intelligence is, in my opion, the ideal asari, pretty with brains and far from helpless. Liara really changed the way I look at the asari since I first started playing ME1.

I don't look forward to sadness, so speak for yourself on that part.

I'd also remind everyone that the SM in ME2 was supposed to be 'impossible'.  I did lose one squad member the first time I played it, without reading any guides, but I went for the "optimal resolution" afterwards.

A story where everything is gained but nothing is lost is just dull.

Don't think Bioware ever claimed that the SM was impossible (unless you mean from an in-story perspective?). I will be annoyed if not atleast a few of our squadmembers perish in this finale journey.

I just think, if I plan an invasion, I would first destroy the communication and the power network of the planet. Killing is a waste of time if they still can coordinate attacks.
But the Reapers weren't exactly smart in ME1 and 2, so maybe they just kill people and turn them into husks.
If communication get's cut off, no need for the SB base, but that's all just a theorie.
I wouldn't mind having good intel from Liara. ;)

This^ so much!

Given Liara has been pretty consistently developed with no major gaps there's no need for the Ashley treatment. Ash and Kaidan have significant gap that need explaining so who knows maybe Ash hit her head repeatedly and wears a catsuit to help with blood flow or something slightly less ridiculous.

Not sure why people want big bulky armor but to each his own. I like Ash's new look and her outfit. They will probably have a pack that will allow people to clunk her up if they desire. Clunk can be good, streamlined wear can be good. It depends on where the fighting is to me. I hated how the group was in armor on the Citadel. It looked funny to me. I would like the option of when and wear to "overdress" my team and when less is more "stealth".

I am just exited to see both Liara and Ash in these demos! Image IPB

They probably will.  That's not what I was getting at.  If Earth is completely annihilated, Bioware can keep their game and I'll keep my money.  Simple as that.

I'll save everyone if it can be done.  You can't always get back everything you lost....but sometimes you get lucky.

Besides, enough has been lost already (especially if you made some mistakes on the SM in ME2).  Your ship, your old crew (some of which will be dead) your life, your honor (working for damned Cerberus), and several entire colonies.  Enough.  It's time to get some back.

It's a good model for a story; this is basically how Lord of the Rings was written.  Book One and Book Two were both a cluster-**** for the good guys, with lots of stuff going wrong.  Book Three was laying out the ass whooping the enemy deserved and doing it in such a way that not only was he defeated, but was in fact humiliated due to the kind of people who actually stopped him.

Edit:

I do not agree with your premise that it's automatically dull if you achieve an ideal ending.  It's all in how it's presented.

Heh.  That's what we've been discussing, the past few pages.  They look like the doodads Samara wears on her forehead.  The doodads may indicate Justicarhood.

As far as I'm aware... no. But realistically, how many different asari have we seen in the mass effect series? A few 100? (not counting pesky eclipse or other enemy asari). How many asari are there... like several billions? It's perfectly possible for asari to normally wear some headgear in asari space, but not in shared space like the citadel..

As for Liara's alternate outfit, if I manage to get my hands on the collectors edition, I doubt I'd ever use the alternate appearance, I like Liara's Lotsb gear much better. As to why BioWare is making it look just like Samara's? To encourage discussion? Out of laziness? Or just as a placeholder for now while they work on her 'real' alternate outfit? Who's to say.
