I understand what you mean. Still, there was still time for romance in ME2 even though the situation for humanity seemed quite dire, we even had time in between to help Liara get the shadow broker even though the point was to stop the collectors as quickly as possible. The scales are a little bigger this time it's true, still I think they'll find time for some shameless teasing and proper romance in ME3. We'll just have to wait and see...
I would argue that it was because LOTSB was written as bridging DLC so Liara and Shepard romance was meant to happen after the Collectors were destroyed. So basicly it was during the calm before the storm.
Hmm true, I forgot about the fact Lotsb's place in Shepards story comes after the destruction of the collectors.
Shepard in the ME3 demos already look incredible exhausted physicly, mentally and emotionally. I can imagine there will be a scene of Liara giving Shepard some comfort.
But there should still be a little bit of teasing and a cheerful smile or two. Can't have it be doom and gloom constantly.
"EDIT"
There could still be teasing ... Dark times see people love harder,
laugh harder and live harder. Just look at WWII events from the USO
& the Canteens then sit down with a WWII veteran and listen to
his/her stories (which I have had the honor of) ... they make you laugh
& cry. My great Uncle had pictures of soldiers in worn torn european
villages with civilians laughing, dancing, singing & crying.
Heady stuff that showed life at its most raw and urgent. Wish I knew
where those pics were now.
Then take a look at the planes (http://www.wired.com...ose_cone_pinup/)
.. these were death machines but I wouldn't call them "all business" in
appearance. That is what I am hoping Bioware captures if they are using
WWII as the inspiration. My Shepard would do her best to make Liara
laugh any chance she got.
I guess when times are so dark. People take every opportunity they can to brighten up the day.
