I think Yeled mentioned this before, but I get the impression that the whole plot to rescue Feron, and take down the Shadow Broker was merely the vehicle of the DLC's true purpose: to explore the relationship between Shepard and Liara, romantic or otherwise. Furthermore, it also provided clarification and elaboration of Liara's ME2 character development, which is something that we had been speculating on and theorising for months.

I've never thought of it that way.  A vehicle to explore the relationship huh?  Interesting.  I think the fact that most of the DLC did focus on the Shepard/Liara relationship/romance and not so much on Feron and his rescue might help prove that point.

Poor Feron gets forgotten about after you rescue him, as far as the narrative is concerned.

Yeah, but he hasn't disappeared, so I imagine he'll have a part to play in ME3.

It's kinda weird that you can talk to Feron as many times as you want, but Liara gets stuck with the "Thanks for stopping by" canned response after the DLC is over.

I agree. The way we learn more about the companion and the way progress in the relationship between Shepard and the companion is woven into the story are exemplary for good writing and will hopefully be a model during the development of ME 3. Or at least for the writing of Liara's role. ^_^

I constantly wonder if people got that same feeling. I pretty much only have one other person to really talk to about how much I love the universe, and my love for Liara's character.  She carries so much gravity with her it's absurd.  Within the context of the story, Liara is just as vital of a character as Shepard is, and equally as intriguing.  All of the banter between Shepard and Liara was amazing, and assuming you have her as your romance, it is a very deep and meaningful affection that you really can't find anywhere else within the story.  This, of course, is all made better by the fact that after everyone else gave up on searching and moved on with their lives, Liara was consistently risking her life and dealing with the worst people the galaxy had to offer with only a faint amount of hope that any of it would work and keep you alive.

Liara T'Soni FTW.

I hate to bring this up all the time. But while I dislike when people think Liara was crazy for wanting to get Shepard's body back, I also don't understand why people think that the rest of the old crew gave up or abandoned Shepard.

It's not that I don't completely discredit the other members of the old crew, because I feel like all of them really matured, and did what they could to make sure that they were making sure that Shepard's death was not in vain.  However, I also feel like these things can be put into perspective.  I think that after ME3 we will have a better idea of just how much Shepard is important to everyone, but as of right now I'm finding it difficult to really find the same connection with any of the other romantic interests as much as I do Liara.

As far as the other members, I feel like Wrex is still a character with a lot of love and respect for Shepard, as well as Garrus.  Seeing as Williams died on Virmire in my current story, Kaiden was who I ran into on Horizon, and it is a generally very unpleasant conversation.

I'm just unsure, I feel like there are a lot of variables, but as it stands, Liara is the one person to me who never accepted Shepard's death.  I'm not completely writing off any of the other characters loyalty or devotion, and I honestly feel that the family that has developed with the crew from ME1, as well as ME2, is the most gratifying thing to accomplish.

Also, whenever Liara makes the statement in the shadow broker dlc that, "The location.. could be better..." about the ship on Hagalaz, I immediately got my hopes up that she would be working with Shepard as a squad/shipmate in ME3.

It may be wishful thinking but I got a similar feel to with a few of her other statements as well. Shepard says "Don't be a stranger this time, she says small chance of that."

Shepard says "Don't turn into someone cooped up in here keeping tabs on everyone." She sarcastically says "I know it's tempting."

Between that and the VI, Feron and other indications I simply CANNOT shake the feeling that something will happen to the SB ship/her position there in ME3.

Yes, that's my only complaint with the DLC.  But, oh well...the rest was awesome.

I don't think they could've recorded enough extra dialogue to satisfy Liara fans. But a few extra dialogues parceled out like the sb videos would've been cool.

Eh, it only sucks 'cause we keep going back to visit after every mission.

...

I'm not the only one who did that, was I?

I do it every time.  I have to in there to see the investment opportunities, and every time I go up to her to see if maybe, JUST MAYBE, it'll be different.

Looks like I will have to stick with waiting until "Holiday 2011" for what I want.

I've actually played through the game 2 more times, and I always do the Shadow Broker last, and I feel like it should be the end of the game, but I spend the entire time completing the loyalty missions saying to mysef, just one more and then I get to go see Liara and do the shadow broker DLC.

Ugh.

What bothers me is that you get good upgrades if you do SB early. Whereas if you saved it to end, a lot of the goods kind of don't matter at that point.

Or those little 'missions' in the Investment Opportunities console...  could have been given and commented by her...

actually, that would've been perfect. not a whole lot of extra dialogue needed but you still feel like you're interacting with her.

Next chapter of my fan fic "Who We Are" is up. I'm not as happy with this one, any tips you can give me on portraying sad Liara will be greatly appreciated.

In my initial drafts of this I had a much happier Liara and I could do that well, but this... this was hard.

Either way here is the link to Ch 2, Ch 1 is in my sig.

I absolutely loved the banter between Liara and Shepard on the Shadow Broker's ship. Every line was just pure gold. "Oohh.. I really should not have looked down..."

I was smiling throughout that entire sequence thinking "God I love her..."

"You just had to go giving them ideas!"

Or however that line went. And now I want to replay the entire mission.

Just read it, I really enjoyed it.

The harshness and how cold some of the people are towards Liara is a strong contrast to the light-hearted approach the first chapter, but I think it works well and help shows that in the end of the day Liara and Shepard are two diffrent people that had two diffrent lives.

I agree.  That would have been great.

I kind of need to save LotSB for last (save the best for last and all) but it is annoying that you miss out on all the goodies for your missions.

Oh, it definitely did.  We just want moar!!

But, alas, we must wait until ME3.  I highly doubt Liara will play any role in upcoming DLC.  I would like it if she would even just send you the email to kick off the DLC instead of Cerberus/TIM, but I don't even see that happening.
