Thanks for the Shepard compliments, guys. XD

I can definitely the quip about needing some terminals hacked coming up.  It's an emotionally charged moment, Shepard wants to talk "about us", and Liara's response is "Listen, Shepard.  I'm...  glad you're here..."  I'd be pretty snippy, too.

I'm definitely curious about where the other option leads, though.  The only clip I've found shows the "About us" option.

Oh, would you like a transcript of the alternative dialouge choice?

Shepard: You haven't been the same since I came back, Liara.

Liara: What do you want me to say, Shepard? That I've mourned you? That I feel guilty because Feron got captured? I made mistakes. I lost people. I helped get you back! And I want to do the same for Feron. I'll sit and talk once he's safe. Until then, enjoying the scenery is an insult to the man that saved both of us!

Shepard: Okay, let's go.

I quite like this exchange, as it functions as virtual confirmation of some of my theories regarding the nature of Liara's quest to hunt down the Shadow Broker.

Doesn't she say "I've spend two years plotting revenge"? I think I only took the alternative dialog once, or perhaps there's a diffrence if you romanced her or not. So maybe i'm wrong.

I believe you may be thinking of the dialogue used in the trailer, which has been edited for the purpose of coherence.

Liara actually says that line at the very beginning of LotSB, as she's leaving her office.

Doh! :pinched:

Silly Bioware and their misleading trailers.

Hmm...  both options are very intriguing.  With "About us", Shepard's concern comes out in an angry jab about the way Liara has been acting, revealing a bit of fear and/or desperation.  With "I'm worried about you", genuine concern about Liara's change in attitude is brought up in what seems to be a more level-headed manner, though potentially concealing any actual fear or anger.

Hrmm...  gonna have to ruminate on that one.

I'm playing FF13 right now, and just realized the last name of Lightning, the character Ali Hillis plays, is "Ferron". Makes me wonder if it's just a coincidence, or the Redemption writers based Feron's name from that.

I like "about us" more. If you play LOTSB post-suicide mission then it feels more real that Shepard's more level-headed/stoic scene he puts up in ME2 is starting to crack.

Well, the way I look at it, in the "About us" bit, Shepard actually makes some progress, and breaks down some walls by shouting his frustration. While the "I'm worried about you" line, gets Shepard some information, but Liara beats him down.

I think that I like Liara's response in "About us" more-so than "Worried". I can almost hear her voice cracking when she exclaims "That's not fair, you were dead!", but then again, that wouldn't be very Liara of her. Despite her emotional investment in everything that's going on, she manages to keep a calm demeanor (or at least maintain the illusion of staying calm).

During the scene on Azure, you could roleplay Shepard as being somewhat irrational and confused when she snaps at Liara like that, given that she's hurt and wants to know why Liara has been somewhat distant and evasive. When people are upset, they tend to say things they do not mean, and later regret.

There was just a buildup of a lot of things...first Liara's cold reception in ME2.  Then, the fact that Liara doesn't stop to see if Shepard is OK after falling with Vasir (though, that would be a bit dumb for her to have done).

It's understandable that Shepard is upset here.  She wouldn't be upset if she didn't care about Liara.

The buildup starts before the parking lot fight, when you leave one of your squaddies.

I'm fine, btw. Thanks for asking.

That's what she says to Liara.

Her voice does crack a bit.  I think it's okay given the situation and the emotions involved.  I think she's mainly frustrated b/c she does want to speak with Shepard about 'us' but can't at that moment, due to the mission and her own reluctance for re-entering the relationship and her fears of losing Shepard again.

Additionally, if one observes Liara's facial expressions during that scene, you can actually see that her conversation with Shepard is frustrating and upsetting her, and I also think she's concerned that she's hurting Shepard. She obviously feels extremely conflicted, and her fears and anxieties are obviously causing her great pain and distress.

Liara has been mourning Shepard for two long years. Think of the amount of sleepless nights she's endured, the nightmares, fleetingly believing that she could see Shepard in a crowd of people. She's suffered alot, and it would undermine her character if she were to leap back into Shepard's arms again.

That's why I felt the kiss when Shepard first steps into her office felt a little out of place...  Was it just a moment of weakness?  'Cause immediately after the kiss, she turns her head away, and gets straight to "business".

I think the kiss was a moment of weakness. For a few seconds the happines for seeing Shepard again makes her forget it all.

Yeah, just a moment of weakness. She's quick to regain composure, though.

Yeah, what Lizard said. Initially, Liara is shocked, surprised and overwhelmed at the fact that Shepard has just walked through her office door, alive and well. During the kiss, her fears, worries, anxieties and doubts resurface, and she breaks it off.

But Liara already knew she was there. Liara paid for all the docking fees and what not, so she knew Shepard was on her way to her office.

I knew that some of my family would return home in this holiday. Didn't stop me from being happy to see them in person.

There's a difference between knowing someone is close by, and actually seeing them in the flesh. That's what shocked and surprised Liara...the fact that Shepard is standing there alive and well.

Yeah, that. I think Liara had an original greeting plan and such, but seeing Shepard "actually being there" made her give in. But then she feels like this is completely wrong, and breaks it off, and pretends it never happened. It became too much for her.

One thing I hope for in ME3 is an updated picture of Liara, since she currently looks very different from what's in the picture. So, if you can change the image, what would you can it to? (And no, not one with you and her, since I'm not sure if that's possible for them to automatically program).
