Personally, I'd like it if Liara was able to die in ME3. Depending on the situation it could be a very powerful scene and I mean both outcomes. I agree with j though - none of the ME1/ME2 squadmates death would be forced.

I'm pretty sure there will be an option for a happy ending for mostly paragon characters (saving the rachni, preventing a war between the quarians and the geth, etc). Renegade characters might be in for some epic sacrifices though (could be Shepard, squadmate[s], or all of them...).

If Paragon and Renegade changes the ending, I'm wondering what would be the trigger. The Paragon and Renegade bars or the decisions themselves.

Also, how do you guys think the information network will be used? Like giving a call during a mission to ask Liara for some intel on the people who Shepard's dealing with? Textform or holo-communication?

ME1 seemed to go by both.  I got a different ending when I saved the council with a higher Paragon bar then when I did with a higher Renegade bar.    ME2 didn't follow this pattern, so it's difficult to say what they will do in ME3 (though, I prefer the ME1 version).

Yes.  I feel that ME3 will involve recruiting recruiting nations and armies to help defeat the Reapers.  So, Liara would then provide Shepard the intel needed to help convice say, the quarians or salarians, that they need to immobilize themselves to join in this war.  These tactics could become underhanded....if needed. 

Communication .....probably done by a holo-communication.

I sure hope the ending would be triggered be decisions. It wouldn't make sense if being less than polite to a person or two would change the history more than, you know, saving races and preventing wars...



I think the information network will be used mainly for briefings/debriefings. Talking to Liara would be cool, and I'd imagine the infrastructure would be there (SB can apparently contact any and all agents across the galaxy pretty much instantly). But having them "phone chat" with each other all the time would be a bit strange I think. Not that I mind more epic banter, but it might be better in moderation.

On Liaras Father: I personally dont expect Bioware to touch the "father" subject at all in ME3 (though I want them to)...the Video in LOTSB felt to me more like a little "gift" for the Liara fans to answer some speculations. But I think they will leave it at that. However, since Aethyta has quite a lot dialogue for a NPC (just like Bailey), there could be a chance that she may get her own comic (just like Bailey). In that comic they maybe could show some moments of Aethytas life...maybe show even a very young Liara.

Liara in ME3: I think Liara, as the only (till now) who cannot die, with that young age and especially after she became the Shadow Broker, could be a great way to link between Mass Effect Spin Offs.
But if BW wants to show some strength in the matter of different outcomes and consequences of choices, they would also add a chance of Liara to die next to the happy end.

However I as well expect that Liaras main role in ME3 will be quest giver and to organise the preparations with you for the battle against the Reapers.

Its great to see some Liara discussion again, best way for me to be motivated to draw some Liara art

I wouldn't mind if Liara could possibly die in ME 3. But no death of any companion, LI or of Shepard should be mandatory, each should be preventable by decisions the player makes, even if perhaps with some exclusivity, like with Ashley or Kaidan. But with one exception: It has of course to be possible for both Shepard and the LI to survive. I would not even buy ME 3 (at least not initially for the full price) if there wasn't the chance for a proper happy ending.

As far as Liara's other parent is concerned: I think this should certainly be mentioned in ME 3. The writers need content for the continuation of her story and the romance anyway (if both will be included, which I doubted after the main game of ME 2, but which I am hopeful about after LotSB). So why not use this obvious story element? A good writer could easily create some interesting and emotional story with it.

I also hope they use that chance too. I would love to make a trip to Illium with Liara in ME3 and have a nice reunion scene and also have the chance of some interesting dialogues with Liara pre and after reunion.. I just have a feeling they wont include it...and I'll be more then happy about to be proven wrong

Yeah, Liara's past is certainly an interesting topic. It would only be natural if Liara and Shepard would talk a bit about that. Just like I think that Shepard's past should still play a role. I liked it a lot when the different backgrounds were mentioned during ME 1, and I think that should also have been mentioned more in ME 2. Of course in ME 3, Shepard will have to deal with much more important things than at the beginning, but Shepard is still a human (as shown in LotSB, even though it was less apparent during the main game of ME 2), so it would only be natural if the events at the beginning of Shepard's life and career, that certainly define the character to some extent, would still matter to Shepard. So that, too, could be a topic especially during a conversation with Liara.

Ms. Prothean expert is also master thief. There is no other explanation to how she can steal the hearts of so many Shepards. She just charmed all my FemSheps. Even those 2 who managed to stay out of the romance were all fascinated about her. All my Sheps with romance or without are blessed to be her friend. <3

Re Liara's father: I think it'd be interesting to see Liara's reaction to seeing her 'father', if she doesn't already know about Aethya. Now, what would REALLY be interesing to see is Liara's reaction to finding out her granddad was a krogan....My femShep always got along quite well with Aethya. She'd probably take a few pointers from her on some comebacks or banter.



Re Liara's plot armor: Unless they plan to have Liara stay alive throughout all three games, (it wouldn't suprise me if they used her for future stakes in the ME world. Asari do live a long time.) I agree with the sentiment that the plot armor comes down, for all of us (or our Shepard and friends, I should say). Anderson, the Dirty Dozen, the remaining SR-1 crew, the Council, Shepard, I have a feeling no one will be safe and while it's kind of sad to think about, I think it'll make it interesting to see the endgame.



As for Liara being a squadmate, I'd have to agree with the statement that she'd probably be an endgame thing, or a temporary squadmate on certain missions, like she was for LotSB.
