Just a thought, went through ME1 again and got to the pre-Ilos romance dialogue with Liara after she enters the room and as she starts talking they're relationship and the possibility of not making it after defeating Saren there is an ominous drum beat in the background and was something I never noticed with those scenes before.

Turned up the volume and I gotta admit it felt very dramatic and quite foreboding given the events in the game. It actually felt like being in a thriller and Liara's talk of death just wanted my Shep to get on with the love-scene ASAP.

A very compelling scene, and if this has already been brought up before I apologize but it made me feel like sharing the experience.

I agree that if you were to give an alignment to Liara it would be Paragade.
As for her joining the squad, there may well be a point in ME3 where the Reapers find the Shadow Broker base, either just because it's in the system they're moving through at that point or because they track it down because Liara is giving Shep intel. Shepard would maybe have to rescue her, either through a distress call or they get enough notice to rescue Liara before the Reapers get there. Or the base may have some sort of shuttle for emergencies (which is likely, given the base's location) and Liara shows up at Shep's location, whether on the Normandy or on a planet. Then there may be a choice on who to receive intel from after that, with the Paragon choice being The Council/Alliance and the Renegade choice being Cerberus.

I do agree that this is one possible explanation for why Liara joins the squad again.

I've noticed it before, but I got a different feeling/vibe from it.  I think it added some kind of hidden tension to the scene that built up to the awesomeness that happened soon after.

To me, the drumbeats add to the feeling that this is a major moment in the relationship and it adds to its significance.  I never took them as feeling ominous, though, but that's just me.

It definitely built tension alright, the point I was trying to make was it made it feel like something would happen to Shepard or Liara on Ilos or the final battle with Saren/Sovereign which would severely impact the relationship.

If I'd noticed it on my first playthrough I guess it would've felt like a precursor to another Virmire situation in comparison. Took me by surprise IMO.

I see. Yeah, in a sense that is right because both Shepard and Liara most likely would perish in the final battle, or would die with everyone else if Saren succeeded and found the Conduit. That night was most likely the only chance (and last chance) they would ever have to be with each other.

This. I felt like it was more of the moment where it's time to stop hiding your feelings, and start acting on them.

Likewise. I'd always perceived those subtle drumbeats to be a way of building tension, and representing the fact that Shepard and Liara's relationship is about to ascend to a deeply spiritual plane when the pair of them enter the asari union together.

I actually believe it to be quite a beautiful and exciting moment. I love it!

Funny... while I really enjoyed that scene in my first playthrough, I didn't read much into the music.  But thinking of it like this makes it seem more like a mutual thing, which definitely flushes out part of that backstory for me.

Yeah, I think the old ME1 Love Theme is the perfect accompaniment to the romance scene. It was good to see it reprised and brought back at the end of LotSB, especially as Liara's ME2 romance content is often tinged with melancholia and sadness. ME2 depicts the rocky second chapter of the Shepard/Liara love story, and their devotion to each other has overcome such powerful adversity.

Darn... looks like the LotSB songs aren't on the OST (actually NONE of the songs that I was looking for are...). I'm gonna need to pay closer attention to the music next time through.

I agree....I'm glad they didn't make a new song for it.

So, I guess that brings up a question for all...do you want them to use the ME1 Love Theme again in ME3 or come up with a new special song for the final love scene?

I think using the ME2 love theme (Reflections) is out, as that represents a sad moment for the ME1 LI romancers....though, it could be incorporated for the ME2 LIs in ME3.

If the final Shepard/Liara romance scene is their bondmate ceremony, then I would love it if they were to use this. I can just picture the emotion of the scene as the pair of them exchange vows and bracelets, staring deeply into each other's eyes as their status as asari bondmates is confirmed. With that particular remix of Vigil playing in the background, I don't think I could control the tears! :crying:

I would like a new love theme to be used.

ME1's theme was used to represent the "start" and in LOTSB the the rebirth of the romance. ME2's (reflections) was used to show the darkest hour of it. So I think something new is in order.

Yes, that is good.  It makes me want to cry just thinking about it and listening to that.

God...  I would be sobbing openly in front of my computer if that moment ever comes to pass...

While thinking about Liara's role in ME3 I started to think about her costume.

Would you like for Liara to change from her LotSB armor to something new in the next game? Or would you want to keep her current look for ME3?

If not, what do you think she would look best in? Would you go for a more cloth look? Or do you like a more armored look?

Personally I think her current outfit is pretty well balanced in how it looks. Not too revealing and professional. Kind of a cross between an a lab coat and battle armor imo. Though I would like the possiblity of alternate outfits for variety and seeing Liara in a new costume would be fun no matter what it is:). Perhaps even the armor from Redemption could be used, to throw an idea out there.

ME2.  I really liked the music that plays in the clubs (Flux, Afterlife Above/Below, Eternity), so that's what I was looking for.  I'll probably wind up buying both albums anyway, just 'cause I need to give Bioware as much of my money as possible, so they keep making this stuff I love!

I loved her outfit in LotSB for exactly the reasons that you mentioned. I think what she wears should largely depend on her role. If she winds up becoming a squadmate, I think that would be a pretty good outfit. I can see her wearing something a little less "battle-ready" for as long as she remains in her Shadow Broker position. I did like the armor she wore in the beginning of ME2, though. It would be interesting to see her in something designed for Asari (currently playing through ME1 again and not liking the standard female getups)

The LOTSB is a separate soundtrack. Same with the other DLC's. I know, it's confusing, since they have other soundtracks for Combat, and other stuff.

Liara's outfit in LotSB is very nice. But I hope that the characters will wear clothes outside of combat and proper armor during combat again in ME 3. Of course that will only matter as far as Liara is concerned if she will be at least a temporary companion. At least LotSB was a good start with her changing into that beautiful dress for the final scene on board of the Normandy.

I think they will re do the armor system again for ME3, so it's hard to tell what will happen with Liara. As bjd mentioned, she'll have specific clothing for when she's just working as the Shadow Broker.

Whilst she's working as the Shadow Broker, I'd love it if she were to wear scientist attire that exudes power, elegance, sophistication, maturity and beauty. Her LotSB outfit is perfect, as it's a hybridisation of a labcoat and armour. It reflects her intelligence and career as a scientist, but it's also practical for the battlefield.

As a result, I'd want her Shadow Broker outfit to reflect her scientist roots, whilst also reflecting her power and authority. She can wear armour again once she's engaged in combat with Shepard, most likely as a squadmate.

His might not be the best answer, but since the Shadow Broker never meets anyone in person, I'd like Liara to wear something very casual, and nothing professional at all (on the ship). As for the color style, I'm not so sure. Normally I'd say green, white, and black, but her color style has now changed.
