So, has anyone seen any of the movies Liara's face model is in?
No, definitely not. I think she's been mostly in slasher flicks and crap like that...I avoid them like the plague.

heh Her stuff isn't really my cup of
tea. It's kind of surprising that they chose a different face model,
because Ali Hillis is a very beautiful woman.
I concur.

Nah. I hadn't even heard of Jillian Murrary prior to playing Mass Effect, to be honest. Looking at her filmography, I can't say I'm particularly bothered about seeing any of her films.
I agree with TheMarshal. Ali would have been a fine person to model Liara's face after.

Well, Liara does look more like Ali then the face she's scanned from. I recently grabbed a picture of Jillian, and tried make it look like Liara. However, I felt like I was changing too much, to the point that her chin and jaw was the only thing I didn't change (though I did have to scale her face to be less wide).
When I first followed the link to Jillian from Liara's wiki page, I was shocked (and a little uncomfortable) by the similarities. Now, though... I think you're right that there are some pretty significant differences. Could just be me projecting, though.

There's one angle where she looks very similar, but beyond that, there's a lot of changes they made, like her nose, her lips, her eye brows, and they thinned her face.

They made even more changes in LotSB.

Anybody else like (from a story POV) that their Shepard isn't a biotic? It adds a little more dynamic between the two characters that they both compensate for the others weakness in combat.

Yes, I do like that. Though, my MainShepard is a very very weak biotic, she doesn't use it much.
I assume you took a secondary skill then, since I recall you playing engineer.

Yeah, I usually take Reave, though I don't use it all that often.

Agreed. My MainShep is an infiltrator, and I think playing a class that's bot non-biotic and not pure combat makes for a good complement to Liara's skills.

Not to divert this from topic, but I don't think reave is a biotic from a story POV. Not that it stops me from using it myself on my vanguard.

I play as a Vanguard usually, so my canon save is as a Vanguard who romanced her, but a human Vanguard is probably, at best an average biotic compared to an Asari. I think the Vanguard style meshes well with the Adept. Since one is CQC and the other is more long range+CC. Although if we need to hack a system that could be a problem.
As for Reave it is an awesome skill, but makes no sense at all to me. When I read the tooltip, I was like wait did I recruit Morinth? A biotic ability that attacks the target's nervous system and leeches health. What the hell Samara? Are you a space vampire too?

I don't think it any more evil then setting people on fire.
@TheMarshal
Infiltrator is a very good pairing with Liara as the two of you cover all three major areas (in ME1). You really don't even need a third squad mate XD
I also like having her with an Engineer (obviously) as they both together have every biotic/tech power available for use.

Biotic Shepard in ME2 have been upgraded from an L3 to L5 (the same as Jack) and if Shepard is an adept or vanguard he even get's an advance version of the L5 (L5x and L5n respectivly) so from an story point of view, biotic Shepard is pretty darn good.
As for reave. I'd said it's Samara using the "advantage" of being an AY-gene carrier.

As for Reave, does anybody else think that Samara's combat chatter ("Embrace Eternity! Your life is mine!") makes the ME1 conversations with Liara rather more chilling?

And yeah I guess that makes sense with Samara, but still as an odd ability -- you'd think Morinth would get that ability.
edit; I'm speaking though from a Vanguard's point of view, since they are a hybrid biotic, and not a pure biotic like an Adept which the sky would be the limit IMO.

Since I've only ever played an Infiltrator, on Ilium, does Liara still say that she needs an "experienced hacker"? 'Cause that really only seems to make sense for a handful of classes...

I find biotics too awesome to not choose (boss fight? throw them off a building), sorry.

I admit that hearing Samara use the expression when she's sucking the life out of somebody does make it slightly more chilling.

In actuality, it would be quite interesting if Liara actually teaches Shepard Singularity, and that she is unable to master that ability until she follows Liara's instructions.

She says that for all Shepard classes, but it only really makes sense for tech classes, I agree.

To be fair. It could also make sense as long as you brought the right squadmates with you.

Not really...it seems like that expression has multiple uses for the asari. It's something said before melding (kfor nowledge or otherwise) and it also appears to be words used when someone passes. It depends on context.

That would be cool. If you want to RP it that way, just hold off on putting points into Singularity until you recruit Liara and have her around for a mission or two.
