Anyway, lines of dialogue that I have discovered for myself? That's a difficult question. During one LotSB playthrough, I accidentally selected "Goodbye" when leaving the Shadow Broker Base at the end, causing Liara to question Shepard on the status of the romance. I thought that was quite interesting, and it's clear to see that Liara wishes to spend time with Shepard.

Yeah, I like that she stops Shepard to bring it up, because now the roles are reversed. Instead of Shepard trying to stop Liara to get her to talk, she's now doing the same for Shepard, because she now wants to know.

It's interesting that you say that. I did the same thing. To be honest, I actually prefer that option now to the other. I feel that it suits both characters a little better. At least in my Shepard's world it does. I've just always felt that there is so much emotion involved when Liara is the one to bring it up.

I always pick the 'Goodbye' option with my Shai Shepard since it fits her.  Especially since they just shared their first kiss on the base.  My Shai is unsure of herself when it comes to relationships since she's never been in one before.  I also just love the way Liara says, "When we kissed."

You know, when I first started playing this game, I really overlooked Liara, probably being more focused on Garrus and Wrex. So I never really went ahead with any of the romances in the first one, though I flirted with the idea of Miranda's in the second. Anyways, I ended up going back to play both games straight through. The rest is history.

I gave her that chance she never had. Maybe because we're cut of the same cloth now -- we're both archaeologists (or I will be once, once I'm freed from the clutches of college).

But I've really come to appreciate Liara on subsequent playthroughs, and the main Shepard I carry into ME3 will have romanced her. She just seems "right" for him. Not that it hurts that she's worked her way up to be my favorite, right there with Garrus.

To answer the above question, though I'm sure you're all more familiar with Liara's dialogue trees than I am... I think one of the most amusing exchanges between Shepard and Liara (and possibly in the entire game) is when the two of them are discussing why Liara has been so reserved; Shepard -- as the bottom right choice -- has the option of saying, "I'm ready now ... if you are." As I recall, Liara just kind of retorts back, "Eager is not the same as ready, Shepard." Not the route I normally go, but it cracks me up every time. Absolutely priceless delivery.

That's how I play LotSB there. But I selected that option by accident the first time. I remember my heart almost stopped for a second ! "What have I done ?"

That's why I'm so extensively careful when I go through these dialogues. I mean, the same thing would happen to me - I would have died. But now that I see there's an awesome follow up, I'm definitely going to do it. I kind of wish I had accidentally stumbled on to it now...

Oh and a new dialog option I discovered a few weeks ago was when you postpone the date on the Normandy and then visit Liara in the future.

I love Liara's "That sounds wonderful" /melt

Starts around the 10sec mark.

Oh, yeah, there's that bit where she says "I not sure people like us have dates... But I'm looking forward to it" :).

Haha, it's interesting to hear how you guys have experimented with Liara's dialogue.

I need to check out a few of these conversations for myself, actually.

You should...even the bad ones (if you can stomache them :P ).  It gives you more insight into Liara's character.

Yes, I love that too!

I also prefer to say 'Goodbye' and have Liara bring up the romance with most of my Shepards (as they lack skills) except one, who has skills.

That was amazing.  You write Shep and Liara so well but your description of Benezia toward the end was really good.  It made me nervous about Noveria even though I already know what's going to happen.

Any reason why you think so? Lots of lines were delivered very well by Mark, or is it the fact that Shepard is physically a man?

Just finished watching American High School with Jillian Murray, Liara's face and body model. It was the only movie she was in that didn't force me to buy it without a rent option, and it was a piece of **** that didn't know what the hell it wanted to be. But anyways, she was a good actress in it.

In terms of the intelligence, I like it when Shepard's 'street smarts' and Liara's intelligence collide. For instance:

Liara: "Maybe there won't be as many guards inside now!"

Shepard: "Ha! Keep dreaming, T'Soni."

Liara: Truck!
Shepard: I know!

Shepard: Does this thing have any weapons?
Liara: It's a taxi. It has a fare meter!

In ME1, Liara is definitely not as street smart as the rest of the crew, but by ME2 , you can tell that the last two years have changed that. Finally out in the real world, away from Prothean dig sites.

Yes, flee in terror everyone. ;)

Really? I had no idea Liara had a face model. Interesting. Is that bit of info from a recent interview?

Sorry I disappeared...I just saw black swan (whew).

Anyways, I finally got around to watching the 'later date' vid that @rynluna posted. It was wonderful! I'll need to give that a try....I actually saved between the defeat of the shadow broker and Shepard visiting in casual clothes. I can replay the dialogue whenever!

And, I don't know, I actually agree. I'm not sure why - it just seems like a better fit. I think it does have something to do with how their voices blend and seem to work well together. Jennifer Hale just delivers for the relationship. Mark is good too, don't get me wrong...it just weirdly makes more sense for it to be femShep and Liara.

I say 'weirdly' because I'm not sure why I think that.

All these "later date" and "goodbye" dialogue options produce some wonderful results, but I found myself COMPLETELY unable to play it cool when it came to romancing Liara.

Drinks: Now!
Promise to come back: Okay!

Also, @Tancho, I agree.  It just 'feels' weird having an MShep romance her.  That may just be because I've never played one (which I doubt I ever will, 'cause I really don't like the voice actor).

It gets listed whenever there's a filmography or resume for Jillian Murray, I think. She has a Mass Effect photo section on her Facebook.

Wish I could remember which Mass Effect "Making of..." video actually shows her image next to that of an asari.

So, I just saw this...

Liara audibly sobs with MaleShep, but silently cries with FemaleShep. I wonder why it was different?

Hmm, yes, you weren't the only one to wonder this. Relive the outrage or just skip to the good parts.

Seems strange. Why not just use the same VA recording for Liara regardless of which Shepard is there? Sorry if I'm being dense but I didn't see that addressed, just the animation/synching issues, which I can understand.

Edit: Although, when she says, "It's over...it's finally...etc" she doesn't sound like she's just been crying, but maybe that's just me.

Yeah, the rage of that forum was....a lot? Not sure what else to say. While I do wonder why they were different, it was nice to have Jesse respond and let us know that femshep and maleshep are equally valued. Put's a lot of 'extra' arguments to rest. Staying on topic - I'm glad that femshep/liara is valued by Bioware. There are a few glitches, but if Jesse was kind enough to take the time to answer a trivial thread, they must value both characters.

All of mine are male sheps... Mostly because regardless, I cannot directly relate to a female character when I am playing the game.  My ex played through as a femshep, and though it was a change of scenery, I could never see myself doing it, and I have tried. I tried.. and just couldn't do it.

Liara with a mshep just makes more sense to me, but I'm also very glad that femsheps get to experience it as well.
