I couldn't imagine Liara dating a dude shep its unrealistic lmao

Any reason why you think so? Lots of lines were delivered very well by Mark, or is it the fact that Shepard is physically a man?

One of the things I was concered about prior to LOTSB's release was if Mark Meer's preformance would be just as bad as it was in Overlord. Thankfully I was proven wrong and he did a great job with Shepard in LOTSB.

"EDIT"

And am I the only one who loves both Maleshep and Femshep and has one of each who romances Liara, and feels that both Maleshep/Liara and Femshep/Liara are good and makes perfect sense?

Oh god overlord... yeah I didn't actually play that until AFTER I did LOTSB. (bought all DLC at the same time) That was bad. bad bad bad meer.

I like both, but they actually seem different to me. Hale's voice and femshep's appearance blend better with Liara for sure and they seem to relate very well. They just mesh perfectly, like tancho said before it's not 1 thing I can point to it's just a "feeling."

But renegade dude shep is just too funny. Meer pulls off the teasing lines too well and big bad macho shep is chasing this asari scientist around the galaxy. Works in a different way imo.

1 maleShep, 3 femSheps. All romanced Liara, but after LotSB something didn't feel right with mshep. Like there was no connection there. So, when I have the time, I'll replay my dudeShep in ME1 and he will stay single. No Liara for him.

As for the physical attraction, I think it makes a lot more sense Asari being attracted to females...

In ME1, I thought Hale and Liara sounded better together, but in ME2, I just prefer Meer. He just sounds better in LOTSB. I can't put my finger on it, thought maybe it's because, being a guy, and I want to play a guy and thus enjoy it more. Maybe it's because Meer sells the frustration and being snarky better. Also, the male version has more polish, with Liara smiling more just feels better.

I just don't think that Femshep/Liara has any more dynamic between them compared to Maleshep/Liara, i'm not saying it worse, I just fail to find it better.

While I do like Femshep/Liara better in ME1, it's solely based on Jennifer Hale doing a job that isn't mediocre.

And i'm not a huge fan of pairing renegade Shepard with Liara, he just seems to be too much of a jerk at times!

I'm really not saying that I dislike Maleshep or think that his voice acting was poor - I'm just saying that femShep seemed like the best fit with Liara. Maybe it's because I'm a girl, who knows. But, I mean, I've gamed my entire life - from Golden Eye and OoT, to KOTOR and Oblivion. I've definitely played many male characters, sometimes by choice (kotor and oblivion). But, I don't know, when playing ME and ME2, femShep just works with Liara.

Again, I can't pinpoint why.

Actually...I may  need to retract that. I just watched this video :

www.youtube.com/watch

The ending, the cabin scene, just seems strange. I think it's mostly the voice acting...it just doesn't fit the mood of the moment. I think that this is probably one of the reasons I think Liara blends best with femShep.

And, this is just my opinion! I'm not trying to step on any toes...I was just correcting my earlier thoughts.

Having opinions is fine, as long as no one puts others down for just simply expressing them (which hasn't happened here). I have my own preferences for Liara's romances (same could be said for any other romance from other BW games that I play).

I know exactly why I couldn't do DudeShep/Liara, and it's two reasons:

1) My one and only DudeShep playthrough, I ran around being a total jerk to everyone. I just couldn't imagine Spacer/WarHero ShepLoo not being a full-of-himself self-important a-hole. And then, I couldn't imagine Liara being truly interested in someone like that, so it didn't work for me. Maybe if I'd tried a DudeShep run with a custom face and less "Yes, I am God's Gift To Ass-Kicking" background, I could have made that work.

2) I'm not going to say that one VA is better than another, though I prefer Hale - but between the different look and the different VA, FemShep and DudeShep feel like two completely different characters, even though they're doing the same things and delivering the same lines. Different FemSheps still feel like variations on FemShep - DudeShep felt like something else entirely. After playing through many times as FemShep, Liara felt like FemShep's love interest. When Liara expressed interest in DudeShep, who - again - felt like an entirely different character even though they're both Commander Shepard, it was weirdly like she was cheating. "But ... Liara ... you belong with this other character! Who ... doesn't exist in this playthrough. But, still - stop that! I'll play FemShep next, I promise!"

So, to sum up - my ShepLoo was a jerk, and my FemShep saw her first, so she had dibs.

My problem with Liara and male Shepard, or generally any males in the game, is that Asari are basically a race of space lesbians. Aside from the usual deviants that occur within any society, it's not logical that such a race would be interested in a "male" of any kind. They existed for a loooooong time, procreating with their own race. They loved, they lived, they grew, all without the need or influence of a male of any kind.

I just doesn't make any sense that most Asari would jump right on some male. I believe it to be nothing more than weak fan service with an even weaker premise to make it OK. Honestly, under any normal evolution the Asari would not be jumping to other races for the purpose of procreation.

I wonder if the asari look upon other species and actually determine gender differences. Much like someone who has not been among asians would find it difficult to tell someone of Japanese descent apart from one of Chinese descent, even though there are marked differences in their features. Male humans are flat-chested, but does that make them altogether more weird than any other alien? We're talking a species that has readily mated with krogan, turians, salarians, and who knows what other extremely different-looking aliens for millennia before humans ever entered the playing field.

I think classifying Asari as 'space lesbians' is overly simplistic. I mean, a mono-gendered species that lives upwards of 1000 years and can reproduce with any other species, WITHOUT relying on sex, is pretty amazing to think about from an anthropological point of view.

Honestly, theres really not enough lore set by the writers on how they got to this point to begin with. All anyone has is speculation and wild imaginings based entirely upon human experiences and ideals. I honestly can't fathom how a race such as the Asari could just decide one day that it's ok to go boink the rest of the Galaxy, even the female parts of other races that look, feel, act, and work similar to themselves. What does this say about the Asari in general? Does it mean that the entire race is nothing more than a race of sexual deviants? I'm not saying this is a bad thing, just that it's hard to understand how this could even happen.

Do not get me wrong, but as Liara noted in  ME1,that this view of share the genetic information
was not generated until after the Asari had discovered the aerospace. So before they mate with themselves for thousand of years. It´s more like a passing fad and pathetic BW fanservice.

I never understood how anything in the game could not be considered fanservice seeing as BioWare was seeking to make a game that is of entertainment value to its fans...

Well I personally have only played through ME with FemShep so I can't comment on Meer's performance in that game, and so can't really say what I think of a maleShep romancing Liara.

I always thought that Asari just didn't view the gender of their partner from a different race as an issue, they are either attracted to someone or they are not. If they don't discriminate by race why should they discriminate by gender?

I think the same thing - it's just whoever they love. I don't think this comes down to 'gender' or 'gay or straight' - I mean, considering this goes way beyond human matters. Asari are a completely different species. I'm not discrediting the idea, I'm just saying I think it's too simple to say 'asari are girls and asari only like girls'. That's just me though. ^_^

I will give BioWare credit that they have never denied this. "As far as men go – like with the Asari – you make her blue and give her the perfect body and you’re good to go. Women are more sophisticated than that."

They may at least attempt expanding their horizons, but they will always be boys making toys.

The problem with me is when you look at the asari from a meta-perspective (i.e., out of game).

Being a lesbian myself, the whole thing makes me go

In game, of course they like whomever independent of species/gender and blah blah blah because that's how they were designed.

I doubt the Asari just decided one day that 'boinking' the rest of the galaxy was ok. I should imagine when they discovered other spacefaring races Asari scientists researched whether the Asari could reproduce with other species given the way they reproduced with each other, found they could, and so those that were in a relationship with people with someone from another species who wanted to did.

Let's not forget it's not only Asari that sleep with other races, how many alien LIs were there in ME2??

Liara loves Shepard, be they male or female.
