Actually, here's a request for ME3: Make the asari have something more meaningful and important then just being able to have sex with everyone, and living for a thousand years, make good strippers, and good at communicating. Show me they have more to offer then that.

They already kinda did it in ME2 with Samara... Too bad her outfit sorta destroyed that.

I would like for there to be differences in animation and dialog for romanced and non-romanced Shepard, yes.

I just hope they don't forget to include these differences with a romanced FemShep again.

This!!!!

I just don't like that the asari depend on other races for their reproductions, and that they have enough volunteers to make up for not dating their own. I can accept that they'd go with a male gender simply because they had 2000 years with Salarians and other races. That's 2 generations of asari now with other and more alien selections. They even go with the Hanar, which don't even looks male or female, or close to them at all.

However, just because they're now more used to more variety being in their lives from birth, doesn't mean they'd all jump ship. Same does with every other race (unless they really are having their minds messed with by the asari). It's just bull**** that doing other races is the accepted standard for everyone.

But 2000 years isn't two generations for Asari any more than 200 years is two generations for humans.  Child-rearing age for Asari starts in the 350 range, and lasts until about 700 years.  That provides a fair number of potential generations over the course of those 2000 years.

I´m a lesbian and I´m pissed of by the way Asari who where meant to be a female race who only reproduce with females, before they had discovered the aerospace, are represented as a race of prostitutes, who have only one purpose in life, mate with men!

I never really thought a lesbian would take exception to a race of women who are designed to appeal to men as I kinda figured that lesbians and straight men had parallel viewpoints on what they found attractive physically.

And it's a surface issue to me anyway, as Liara is certainly not just eye candy. They could have focused on her ass, but they chose to focus on her brains instead.

Regardless, this issue will likely go insanely off topic, so I pose another question. Matriarch Aethya watched Liara for a very long time as far as we know. Do you think she was merely observing, content to watch or was she simply never able to find the courage to talk to Liara?

Now that Liara won't be on Ilium anymore, what do you think she will do next? She might assume that Liara was hurt, perhaps try to track her down given how dangerous the business she was/is involved in.

Do we know that Aethyta watched Liara?  We know that Liara has videos of Aethyta on the SB base, but was the watching mutual?

It's not that.  It's that lesbian women are a lot more sensitive to how women are portrayed in media (being one themselves) then straight men are.

The video in the SB base showed Aethyta looking at a picture of Liara. If she wasn't around when Liara was growing up, we can assume she did a little bit of stalking to come by that picture.

We don't know for sure.  We know that Aethyta has a picture of Liara and that's it.

Though, I'm not sure if it's coincidental that Aeythta works so close to Liara's office.  :P

Yeah I don't like that Asari were basically developed to be sexually attractive to men, but I don't know that I agree that they only serve as galactic prostitutes. I mean this is the race that gave us characters like Liara and Samara. Yeah Asari in their maiden stage dancing in Omega and Chora's Den are obvious in their purpose, and that definitely makes me uncomfortable. However I also don't like to generalise an entire species based on the behaviour of those that are pretty much the Asari equivalent of wild teenagers. So while yes, I agree Asari, specifically Maiden Asari, were created with male fanservice in mind, I can't say they make me uncomfortable as a whole.

Also I think it would be better if we saw females of other species, just so that the Asari don't stand out as the only ingame alien females.

Asari only live for 1000. Meaning any that are still alive now have already accepted that there is other life out there, and it's in the media, magazines, movies, etc. and it's accepted that we're talking with them all the time, and meeting them all the time. They accepted that they look like this, and do whatever since the day they were born. Some are even born around them.

Yeah I was working under the assumption that she was watching her for these reasons:

- Aethya shares same political views as Benezia.

- "Pureblood daughter, didn't work out."

- Same age as Benezia

- Happens to be working right next to Liara.

- Watching Liara's personal picture and drinking. (Same one that Shepard has if they romanced)

- The video was put there for a reason on the SB base.

I want more then just one woman in a sexy outfit, who's also happenes to be a warrior. I want to see that asari can play more roles that don't involve being sexy, or having tea parties. And I'm talking about the race ingeneral. An individual isn't enough. You know when Liara said people don't try to understand them? Well that's what I want to do now.

@jlb524 - I completely understand. The way women are represented in the media is maddening. I'm not a lesbian, but I am definitely a feminist thinker.

That being said, I tried not to pay too much attention to the 'dancer' asari, and more on characters like the council member, Liara, Samara and the information that Liara provided. She said that Asari were the first to find the Citadel and form the council. Again, while the Asari were initially developed to be pleasing to men, I think Bioware has slowly turned them into something better. I'm a more optomistic/fight for the underdog person, though, so I completely understand if you disagree.

Oh no, I'm definitely hoping that Aethyta is Liara's sire, and that at least ONE of them has an inkling about it. The fic that I'm reading through now has the consort, Sha'ira, as Liara's sire, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand, Sha'ira's status might make her more of a social match for Benezia, but I think that Aethyta's 'fallen from grace' status makes for a more interesting story.

Liara was part of Shepard's team that stopped Saren's attack on the Citadel and is a respected member of Illium's community it would seem. I suspect Liara is a papparazzi figure because of it.

I say this, because I have an image of Liara walking down the street, and Aethyta gets out her omnitool to flash a quick picture of her. :P

This!  We only see Asari and human females (both of whom wind up dancing on tables), and that's more than a little odd.

Now that I see it written...it seems painfully obvious.

Yeah I think Aethyta will certainly have a part to play in Liara's ME3 story, given the evidence we've seen so far. I don't think that would be included not to ever be mentioned again.

Really? I had no idea Liara had a face model. Interesting. Is that bit of info from a recent interview?

It gets listed whenever there's a filmography or resume for Jillian Murray, I think. She has a Mass Effect photo section on her Facebook.

Wish I could remember which Mass Effect "Making of..." video actually shows her image next to that of an asari.

And now I have a mental image of the biggest Liara-eye-twitch ever when a swarm of people rush her for interviews and photos. The shy archeologist being hunted down by the public? O dear indeed...

So more background chatter, more characters we interact with and dialog/text to show an other side of asari?

I think I read that fic (and one that had the Councilor as Liara's other parent).  Unfortunately, looks like those are AU now.  I agree...I never really cared for the possible Sha'ira pairing with Benezia...not interesting for some reason.  I always liked the idea of Aria being the one, but alas.

Luckily, I started my own fic after knowing all this about Aethyta.

Haahaa, I imagine she'd start traveling incognito and wear a hood to cover up her face.

Yeah I always wondered why their victory in the battle of the citadel was never mentioned, and I can hardly imagine them escaping that without some form of paparazzi/fan following.

Mind you I should imagine that would make Liara's info broker business hard to do subtly, going to a discrete meeting to trade highly sensitive information with a paparazzo making rude/inappropriate/justplainannoying comments whilst trying to take a picture the entire time :P
