Luckily, I started my own fic after knowing all this about Aethyta.

Yeah, this fic looks like it was written before ME2 came out.  It's truly epic in scope (300k+ words, I think), and it has an amazing amount of detail, not all of which I'm a fan of.  One of those details was the wedding scene, which really played up the Asari sexuality with Liara wearing a barely-there wedding gown.  It may be possible that such a dress would be what the Asari wear, but I didn't enjoy yet another instance of Asari sexuality being played up.  It seems to cheapen them as a species.

I skipped like 15 middle chapters of that story and picked up the last couple on the citadel. Much better focus towards the end, it was like she strayed in the middle with the plot.

Though, I do agree she should be quite famous everywhere in the galaxy, given that she served with Shepard and also that she was the daughter of a very powerful and controversial Asari Matriarch. If she found herself on Earth or in a human colony, she would definitely be hounded by the press as humans love to do such things XD

I do see people comment about the change from a shy archeologist to a harder information broker, and I would think that being forced to socialize in such a manner against one's will would change how one composes oneself around others. Trial by fire.

Yeah, that fic tried to tell the entire Shepard/Liara romance story after ME1 (including having a child I think too) as well as wrap up Liara's parent issue.  I'm always wary about this (as a fanfic writer) given that there still are two more games coming out and anything you write about will become AU.    Therefore, when I get up to the LotSB stuff in my fic, I'm going to end it (momentarily) and not continue on to avoid potential conflicts with the canon that will be established in ME3.

Though, if others like to write like this then more power to them.

To answer the first one. There are no fat people in Mass effect, partly because Bioware don't want to waste time making an entire new model.

But I do know from the CDN that asari do have such things as movies that play at the galactic box office, so perhaps they do care about celebrities.   I think there was one news article about an asari actress but I would need to dig that up.

Actually, didn't Liara have the Electronics skill in ME? Though I guess that doesn't count if you're going for 'best tech asari'

Illium had all sorts of things like "Illium's top ten richest people" and all sorts of reports and interview on noteworthy people visiting Nos Astra (Samara & Thane). So I think Asari also have paparazzis and journalists like Khalin-Jil-blablabla.

Maybe Liara just isn't that popular among her own for her connection to Benezia who might possibly be regarded as a traitor by the public.

To be fair. It was a program she brought, so I wouldn't use it as an example of her prowress with tech.

I think some level of electronics skill would come in handy when going through the architecture of ancient space-faring civilizations, no? Aside from when it all goes horribly wrong and you hit the wrong button, encasing you in a bubble field to await rescue.

I don't think she's a tech expert or received special education in any technical field, but I think she's a bit tech savy from picking up stuff throughout her science career.

We don't have a lot more to base this on, though. I mean, what information is there that says asari can't be tech savvy? Or that there aren't any? I think if we're basing it on 'I've never seen a tech savvy asari', then the fact that Liara can use encryption and decryption is a valid point. 

If there is information that they can't/aren't tech savvy, then I yield, haha. I'm just wondering if there is any.
