No that line is also with the friendship version, or at least I remember hearing it.

Cerberus knowing could be because they were spying, but anyways, I think it was known in the media already.

Really? Dangit.

I think it's been left intentionally vague and ambiguous, as those who romance Liara are able to interpret it as Vasir referring to Shepard's romance and relationship with Liara. Whenever I play LotSB, I've never seen it as anything but a reference to the romance.

So, this is a Liara topic that I'm not sure we've discussed...

I just read about the 'Mass Effect' film. What do you think about Liara starring in it? Do you think they'll do her justice? And since it will probably be maleshep (*tears*), what do you think about them having a possible relationship in the movie?

I think it is a reference to romance regardless if you romanced Liara or not. I think it's pretty clear that Liara cares for you on a romantic level...and Vasir said Liara was into ugly, not Shepard.

I care nothing for the movie.   I doubt they will do her justice and the Shepard shown will be nothing at all like mine.

Exactly.  I'll probably go see it, all the same, but it won't be my Shepard up there, so I'll have a hard time giving a damn.  My deepest hope is that they don't focus at all on Shepard.  I think the First Contact wars would make for a pretty good backdrop, though.

I'm not interested in the film, and I doubt that Liara would be depicted in a way that is faithful to her character. Regardless, if the movie does centre around the events of ME1, then she will have to be featured. She is one of the plot's most important and influential characters, after all.

However, I really do not want her to be in any ME movie!!!

Actually, there is a difference.

Vasir only adds the "no offence" line if Liara is Shep's LI.

Is it weird that I'm relieved to see so many people say they don't care for the movie?? When I read the reports, I nearly gagged. I hope they don't focus on Shepard/ME1-3 storyline or try to canonize the story in any way.

I like myShep/Liara.

@Jade Elf - Really? I thought I heard the 'no offense' part was particular to LI. How do you know (if you don't mind me asking)?

Apparently, some people think the asari are cool in the ME universe:

“Late-night comedians are weighing in on Ford v. Huerta, the court case that has enough cyborgs, presidents, and controversy to be a Hollywood blockbuster in its own right. Cal DiCosimo said "We're supposed to care that the President was brain dead after his stroke? What I don't get is that a room full of doctors said he had brain activity before it". Natasha Lyons targeted the Speaker of the House, saying, "Her entire argument is that for the last year, she's wanted to be Vice President. I'm sorry, honey, you don't get out of working that easily". And Manny Zupo gave his analysis: "For the last year, we've had a zombie cyborg president. Why does the speaker want this to end? Every twelve-year-old can now go to class and say 'my president's just as cool as the asari".”

Oh, I'm not even going to watch it or follow it at all, tbh.  I'll just ignore it.

Oh, that's interesting. Knowledge of Shepard and Liara's relationship must have spread like wildfire.

Thanks, Jade.

That might be true. I only played the friendship version once.

The movie doesn't exist. Simple as that.

The only way I'm watching the movie is if they stay the hell away from Liara and instead focus on some other important event in the Mass Effect universe.

Yeah, I've decided I'm going to ignore it.

I think, of everyone, FemShep/Liara fans will dislike it/ignore it the most.

Sure. I have many different Sheps and
therefore a lot of playthroughs. Many of my Sheps have Liara as the LI, but a few don't. So
it was obvious enough after a few playthroughs with different Separds.

I honestly don't think they will do anything during or after the game series. There are too many ways a player can go , male/female, ahole/angel. Any movie they do that covers the exact same content that players have choices in will invalidate a large number of players games, basically saying we don;t care about your choices here's the final story. That's as bad business as it gets. Pre Shepard/pre ME1 however is completely open, there's lots of back story they could cover and do the franchise justice.

Well, yeah, we have an emotional attachment to just that version of the romance and it definitely wont' be shown in a movie.  Same goes for FemShep/Kaidan romancers or even MaleShep/Ash mancers (if Liara turns out to be the LI).

Exactly - I'm very attached/loyal to my femshep/Liara pairing. I was just guessing that we would be the angriest of them, since Shepard would probably be a man, Liara would probably be poorly represented, and their relationship would be an attempt to invalidate our choice (femshep/liara). If the movie was maleshep/ash, I wouldn't care as much, but I can see other pairings getting angry.

Let's just hope that they don't bother trying to tell the Shepard story. With a universe like Mass Effect I'm sure there are plenty of other good tales to tell.

I don't think it would invalidate FemShep/Liara and I'm sure there are also MaleShep/Liara mancers out there that still wouldn't like the movie even if it had that pairing (as it wouldn't be their Shepard).

However, I think if you are extra-attached to the FemShep/Liara pairing the last thing you'd want to see is the MaleShep pairing as you'd really rather see it with FemShep.   Also, vice versa...if you are really attached to the MaleShep pairing, you may not want to see FemShep with Liara in the movie.

Within my own mindset, I actually believe it's quite weird to think of the character of Commander Shepard not being a woman that is in love with Liara. I've become so accustomed to this part of the narrative and story being present, it feels like a natural part of the Mass Effect series.

I could listen to the chemistry between Jennifer Hale and Ali Hillis for hours, to be honest.

Ah, another point....part of what makes Liara 'Liara' is Ali Hillis and it won't be her voice in the movie :crying:
