I saved Ash in both of my playthroughs. If there happens to be a Virmire survivor DLC in the next few months, I may consider another playthrough where Kaiden lives, but I never cared much for him as a character.

I even up the survival rates, but I realized something strange the other day. I always send Kaidan with the salarians, I don't have a single playthrough of him with the bomb.

I've saved Ash in every play through but one, just so i have the option of seeing how each scenario plays out in future dlc or ME3. But I like Ashley way more than Kaiden, she's got an attitude, but i kinda like it.

I actually really like Kaidan, because he's a cool dude, and totally my FemShep's lesbro once that romance gets shut down. He still dies every playthrough - not that I like Ashley better, I just can't make myself play Virmire differently than I did the first time, when I had no idea I couldn't save them both.

I just thought of this a while ago. If Liara's dad knows Liara is her daughter, then does that mean she knows Shepard is her friend/lover when you meet her?

To give my own answer. Yes, but it's only a very minor factor.

I keep Ash alive for the Male Shep, and Kaidan alive for the Femshep. Not really for romance reasons, but simply because they're different content if you do it that way. Kaidan is a 180 from how he acts with Maleshep compared to Femshep.

As of now, we don't know if she knows who Shepard is to Liara.  If i had to guess i'd say she probably does.  She's a bartender and a Matriarch so she's probably well informed.  Although if she does know, she certainly doesn't seem concerned.  As a mother i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.  Perhaps she just feels it's best to let Liara live her life and not get physically involved in any way.  Just knowing she's alive and getting to see her occasionally while walking around Illium is possibly enough.

If we're still operating under the assumption that it's Aethyta, then I guess it would largely depend on how she got Liara's picture.  If she got it herself, it would stand to reason that she's been gathering info on Liara, so she might know.  If Liara was the one who found Aethyta...

Well actually that would be interesting.  How would Liara have found out about Aethyta?

Heh ... I think Aethyta knows about Shep and Liara, for two silly reasons. First, Aethyta talks a lot about herself with Shep, while bartenders are famous for their listening skills. Second, she's very consistent with the 'no sex - I just cleaned the bar' thing, and I don't think she cleans the bar that much.



So what that says to me - in a silly way - is that she knows about the relationship and is telling Shep so much about herself in order to eventually enlist Shep as an ally in her introduction to Liara - and that, since Shep is sleeping with her daughter, if Shep tried to sleep with Aethyta, too, she'd have to kill Shep. She's wise enough to know that it's best to nip that sort of thing in the bud, and she's learned the hard way the downside to lethal conflicts with family members.

That is one heck of a conjecture. Possible? Yes, definitely. Likely? Not really. While Matriarchs are known for their far reaching planning skills, this suggestion seems to operate under assumptions derived from character traits observed by inference through a minute amount of actual interaction.

Also, Aethyta is outgoing in regards to Conrad Verner and the bar owner refers to her as if she is her bouncer so she has several instances that suggest that she is naturally outgoing, which subverts your suggestion's plausibility.

I find it much more likely that Aethyta got a picture either from the media after the events of ME1 (any media would love the story that the daughter of one of the conspirators helped kill said conspirator and subvert the overthrow of the Citadel government, thus there would be an abundace of pictures) or from the fact that Liara's office is maybe a hundred yards from Aethyta's place of work.

However, it probably wouldn't take much investigation to figure out that Liara and Shep were a couple after ME1. That would also be publicized unless Shep took pains to keep it secret. This is why your suggestion is still possible.

Well, Kasumi knew about the relationship....as did Cerberus.  It seems like it wasn't a big secret, so I assume Aethyta knew about it especially if she was following any sign of news on Liara.

Let's hope that Bioware didn't abandon whole thing in ME 3 but let us finally confront her about whole "i am your father" thing to either confirm or dismiss that claims.



Too bad we couldn't go to Eternity with Shiala... would be really interesting to see reactions of both o them.

I just got the Blood Dragon armor for ME2. If I wear it, it has me wearing the helmet as well. Does this affect any scenes with Liara? Like the kiss on Illium or the two kisses in the SB base?



Ha, I'm just curious...if you keep the helmet on, it reminds me of a V for Vendetta scene...

Talk to her on the Normandy after meeting Liara on Illium for the first time and you will see what I mean.

The helmet stays on so Liara will be kissing that instead of your Shepard's lips.

Not sure when she says, might be after you invite liara to your cabin after LotSB (haven't been able to get that dialogue on my latest playthrough) but she says something like:"I heard you and liara were an item before, it must have been hard seeing her again"

Not sure if I remember it correctly, haven't heard it in a while but I'm pretty sure kasumi says it after the cabin scene

After you recruit Kasumi if you talk to her after doing more missions, she'll usually say something in regards to whichever mission you did last.  So if you recruit Kasumi, then do LotSB, (after inviting Liara to the Normandy) and then talk to Kasumi, she'll say something that points directly to her having known of the relationship between Shep and Liara.
