Talk to her on the Normandy after meeting Liara on Illium for the first time and you will see what I mean.

I hadn't realized you could do this earlier.  Oh well, either way works.Posted Image

Yeah, the Kasumi/Liara dialog has nothing to do with LotSB as it was added in with the Kasumi DLC...you just need to recruit Kasumi prior to meeting Liara on Illium and then speak with her on the Normandy afterward.

My bad then but I guess it makes sense come to think of it as pretty much all you do with liara on illium is seeing her wheras my shepard (and probably everyone else on this thread) did a lot more than 'just seeing' liara during LotSB

So what that says to me - in a silly way - is that she knows about the relationship and is telling Shep so much about herself in order to eventually enlist Shep as an ally in her introduction to Liara - and that, since Shep is sleeping with her daughter, if Shep tried to sleep with Aethyta, too, she'd have to kill Shep.
<snip>

That is one heck of a conjecture.<snip>

I warned you it was silly.  I tried to make my screen name "Radical Interpretation of the Text", but it wouldn't fit.

My not-silly answer is that, after the events of ME1, information about Liara and Shep's relationship is available, at least to someone who is looking.  Cerberus knew.  Kasumi knew.  The information existed - so whether or not Aethyta knew pretty much depends on whether or not she was looking and how determined she was to get info.

From the SB video where she's looking at Liara's picture, we can assume that she cares enough to look into Liara's life and discover this piece of information - but since she's also drinking and possibly moping at the time, looking into Liara's life might be an indulgence she didn't allow herself beyond a basic extranet search.

But Liara implies that her involvement in bringing down Saren was common knowledge - she said that after that, people wanted to be her friend, or at least not be her enemy, so we can guess that Aethyta would know Liara served on Shepard's ship during the Saren thing, and would know who Shepard was, even if she didn't dig enough to uncover the part where they're romantically involved.

But assuming she knows is more fun, imo, which is the standard I apply to gray-areas in canon.

What is odd is that Kasumi knew but why would she even look for that info? This is why I think that knowledge of the relationship was public and not too much digging would be needed...anyone who pays any attention to galactic news would have heard about it eventually. Now, if you don't care about it, then you may not know. I don't pay attention to celebrity news myself, so I'm sure there things I don't know about them but have been made public and that most people do know about, as they do pay attention to this news.

Why wouldn't she ?
If you're going to put your life in someone else's hand I think you'd like to know everything there is to know about that person. It doesn't matter if it is about her cooking skills or how great she did in the academy.
Besides, Kasumi is sneaky. She knows things. And she likes gossiping... ^_^

I can see the tabloids now... Spotted: Hero of the Citadel, Commander Shepard and significant Prothean expert-turned significant-other Liara T'Soni out walking their dog on the Presidium!

Kasumi brought a bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy and questioned Chakwas. We know she loves gossip. But I doubt that knowledge of the relationship is public. Kalisah Al-Jilani would probably mention it ^_^

I actually wish Al-Jilani would mention in in ME3...you know she'll be there.

I hope so too. But I doubt it, since they would have to have 10 diffrent dialogs depending on who Shepard is in a relationship with (if any at all).

And I think the information that Liara and Shepard being together was public knowlegde or atleast a strong rumor.

If she says anything negative about Liara, she will receive the first punch ever from both of my FemSheps.

Considering Al-Jilani seems to be fond of the blue herself, that'd be terribly hypocritical. And therefore very likely coming from the press.

That or maybe Liara simply told her. Liara did do some work for her. Maybe they talked about Liara's past relationship while in the office?

Kasumi never says, but she does mention having worked with Liara as one of Kasumi's Many Said Things once you see Liara again on Ilium. When Kasumi talks to you back on the Normandy.

IIRC, she actually mentions that she's dealt with some of "Liara's people," and not Liara herself. I get the impression that she never met Liara in person.

Had Kasumi been informed of the existence of the romance during conversation with Liara, I think she would have told Shepard that Liara told her. As this is not the case, I'm inclined to believe that the romance is pretty much general knowledge. Especially when considering the fact that Tela Vasir also knows about it.

That's right...I forgot about that.

Have you read the latest CDN bit?

I wonder if this will have an effect on ME3 and how Liara could possibly fit in? This 'cabal' is hording the discoveries found in this ruin and keeping it from the Council. I'm just wondering if Liara could use her SB network to procure the results of these findings and then analyze them herself?

I believe that the distinct possibility exists that this could occur. LotSB foreshadows that the Protheans may provide some form of technology or weapon that will be crucial in the forthcoming Reaper war, and I don't think it's a coincidence that the person who operates the most powerful, extensive and influential information network in the galaxy also happens to be a Prothean expert.

As I speculated before, Liara's network may prove vital in recovering this information or technology, and it may greatly assist Shepard's war effort against the Reapers.

When replaying Conrad's scene on Illium, I noticed he trusted that asari because she was pretty, and offered hot coffee. Apart of me thought he was only helping her to complete his fantasy of being like Shepard. Did another else think that after he told you?

Also, in asari news, it seems they have another disease called "ahok fasciitis" (fasciitis diseases affect the fascia).

Yeah, I thought it would possibly lead to something in ME3, and that Liara will probably be interested in finding out what they found inside.

I believe this means Shep will know about it even if Liara finds out first. Or it could easily be something the Illusive Man keeps from Shep for himself, either way Shep will find out, and then (i'm assuming) he would relay it to Liara. She is the Prothean expert after all. I think it would make sense for her to use the findings for analyzation. The results may link to something usefull against the reapers or/and a better understanding of the Protheans.

She did?!

I thought he helped her because she claimed to be an undercover cop.

I'm almost certain that the "hot coffee" remark was a reference to the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas sex minigame controvesy.

I do think that Illium offers other subtle pieces of fanservice for Liara fans, though. The "Lost Locket" assignment being the most obvious and prominent one.
