When replaying Conrad's scene on Illium, I noticed he trusted that asari because she was pretty, and offered hot coffee. Apart of me thought he was only helping her to complete his fantasy of being like Shepard. Did another else think that after he told you?

She did?!

I thought he helped her because she claimed to be an undercover cop.

If you tell him the truth, he'll tell you "But she was so nice... and pretty... and blue... and she gave me some coffee (or something like that)..."

He says the same thing if you're not dating Liara (I think), but I had a laugh thinking he was trying to act out a fantasy of being Shepard in everyway, including having an asari girlfriend.

I'm almost certain that the "hot coffee" remark was a reference to the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas sex minigame controvesy.

I do think that Illium offers other subtle pieces of fanservice for Liara fans, though. The "Lost Locket" assignment being the most obvious and prominent one.

And I don't think the small quest on Illium were direct fanservice for Liara fans, but that doesn't stop the "lost locket" quest from envoking feelings in my cold dead heart.

"EDIT"

TMA already gave the answer.

I know this is off topic, but is the whole Conrad Verner thing only on PC, cos my Shepard always meets him on the Citadel in ME1 but nothing ever comes of it on XBOX.

No, you do meet him in the 360 version as well in ME2, if you persuade him in ME1.

I think what's amazing is how extensively Bioware added intricate details to the game. I mean, the fact that we're still discovering conversations where your relationship with Liara is mentioned gives me hope for two things:

1. There's probably still more to be discovered in ME2 (ME1 as well, but more so ME2).

2. If they had to be careful with ME2 in order to leave things for ME3, just imagine how intricate it will be! I'm excited to see how extensively your relationship with Liara effects the rest of the game.

after playing over and over i didn't think there was anything left to know. But you're right Tancho. the surprises keep on coming. Little things here and there that add to the bigger picture, that highlight your relationship with Liara and beyond. It's... Impressive.

so on my first playthrough of ME1 when Anderson and Udina hand the Normandy over to you and they give you info on what possible ways to start your search for Saren, I went to Therum first and recruited Liara. I saw an opportunity to add a new squad member to the roster and decided it was the best way to start. Now that I know how it all plays out i'm glad I went there first, more Liara time :) but did anyone play this out differently on their first playthrough?

I always do Therum first. I pretend that's the only mission you've been given at that point. The others (Noveria and Feros) are given later.

I always do Therum first, too. I mean, I hear the hallucination scene is interesting if you leave her there for too long, but then, it could jeopardize your chances at romancing. It may not, but still, it would be a bit more rushed. That could have it's own upside if you're only into the game for the relationship, but I enjoy the game as a whole too much to rush things.

Oh, and I tried saying 'death, probably' instead of 'happily ever after' during the LotSB scene. Ugh, that was hard to stomach.

@Tancho, oh man... I've done LotSB quite a few times, but i can never bring myself to say "death probably"... Every time I get to that point in LotSB, Liara's question hangs for a good 30 seconds before I finaly choose "happily ever after". I'm curious to see what happens, but i just can't do it lol!

I don't know if i've posted this here yet, but check out my Liara Tribute.  It's with MaleShep, so if that offends you in any way i suggest you don't watch.  I haven't made any FemShep/Liara Tributes yet, but they will soon be on the way.  Anyway, enjoy...B)

On my very, very, very first playthrough I picked Feros, because it was a colony under attack. I figured I had to hurry.

Did you notice anything different in your interactions with Liara at her dig site? Or after the missions? Just curious to see if one mission changes anything or if you have to leave it for last.

I don't remember any differences. Then again, that playthrough was 3 years ago. So who knows.

there is a difference. If you recruit Liara early, (as i suspect most people have) nothing is different. But if you wait and get to Therum later (not sure how much later this would have to be) she thinks she's hallucinating and that Shep is a mirage. She still talks to Shep while she's trapped, but she keeps mentioning that she's "talking to a mirage, oh great". It's really sad, kinda funny, but really sad.

Her hallucination scene is cute, especially if you choose the renegade dialog options.

I've also read that when you run into the krogan guarding the exit, she is too frightened to help you fight him. As far as I know, in LotSB she always says that "you fought a krogan battlemaster, while I cowered." Makes me wonder whether her late rescue is part of my imported save data (which I got from someone else) or just considered canonical.

Don't do it. I believe it kills your relationship and it's better to watch something less painful and traumatic, like the Saw movies. ;)

I'm pretty sure I did Feros first in my first playthrough.  Doesn't change things too much, except that once you pick up Liara from Therum she immediately goes into the melding once you're back on the Normandy.

Still...  any subsequent playthroughs are gonna swing by Therum first!  I tried very hard this time through (#2) to get the completionist achievement for Liara, but to no avail...  I only left a handful of quests incomplete  :-\\

Hello Liara fans :) trying to catch up over 80+ pages here... I have two questions

1. How did she get your dog tags?

2. The armor piece in her apartment?

Shep died on Alchera.....unless the SB's people did it?

Interesting...  on my most recent playthrough I picked her up first and didn't see her taking part in the fight.  Could be my mistake (the fight was over surprisingly quickly.  Tali + Garrus + Infiltrator for the smash!)

I don't think she fights if you pick her up first or last- I always pick her up first personally... why wait lol

We know she can fight.... I just chalk it up you're still recovering from being locked in that sphere.... it was for a long time after all....

I haven't seen it, but supposedly if you're late to rescue her, she's frightened by the krogan and asks you not to let him get her (as opposed to saying "whatever you want, you won't get it from me").

Otherwise, if you say "We don't have time for this idiot. Charge!" she leans foward and glows with incipient biotic whupass.

But if she doesn't actually take part in the fight either way, that might explain her statement in LotSB.
