I think that was more implementation. I find fairly open systems with certain limitations work best, specialisation rather than class or truly free.AlanC9 wrote...
After Morrowind, I started to think that class limits maybe aren't so bad. A character that can do everything isn't much of a character.
Why are people complaining about DA2?

And that would be the trade off. The more open your system, the worse combat balance is likely to be. You have a problem anywhere you set that balance, but neither direction is truly better or worse.Addai67 wrote...
Players should be able to build the team and decide on how to construct their party. The more artificial limits, the less RP flexibility and player choice.
DA:O's combat balance was pretty bad, I'm not sure I'd use the term "broken", but it wasn't good, and a number of the changes would seem to help them "fix" it.

Urgh. And in the end it looks like BW trying to force a party comp on me which I don't find desirable. If all the characters I think mesh well with my PC are of a certain class (all warriors) I shouldn't be penalized for bringing them along instead of dragging along a rogue/mage who I may or may not find extremely irritating.
That said the styles of play are unreconcible so urgh. I'll just wait for the inevitable weapons mods so I don't have to worry about "class balance".
Great point. Nothing I hate more when playing a game than being forced into dragging along chracters I detest. Though I always bring a mix of characters. A mage/healer, another melee, and one I swap out back and forth. Though I see myself in DA2 going solo or minimum. At least the only melee so I get the cool kills.

Let's not get into an ME2 discussion again, especially since Torhagen doesn't have any rational points to make.

Oh ! And I was disapointed by DAO (such as every BG player I guess), so I'm pretty suspicious about DA2 at the moment.
Dude, lay off the silly overstatements.
It's funny that you tell another poster to refrain from making silly overstatements and then go on to make your own silly overstatement in the very next sentence.
A fraction of BG players were disappointed by DAO, not most. Certainly not every, but I'm pretty sure you didn't mean that literally.
How do you have any idea how many BG players were or were not dissapointed in DAO or not? How could either of you know, one way or the other?

Too be fair CLEARLY claiming most BG players were disapointed by DA:O is totally BS claim. Much more so than the former.

True, a fraction is more vague a word than the use of the word most.

Hopefully Dragon Age 2 has rich rpg elements. I'm going to buy and start Origins because I heard the rpg elements were excellent...and I want them to be there for 2. It would also be an encouraging sign from BioWare

As a fan of Mass Effect and BioWare, and who is trying to learn more about Dragon Age and start playing soon, I agree with the OP. Hopefully Dragon Age 2 is its own unique game with its own unique style. I cannot make any assessment on DA rpg elements, but us guys and gals in the Mass Effect forum are seeing too many rpg elements evaporating and more shooters coming in, which has us worried.

Thats the problem DA2 follows the mass effect route the keyword is cinematics cutscene responsive combat and shiny graphic.... And all this concerns because are huge stepback from bioware game of the past

Depends what you regard as key rpg elements. If you regard character building and character interaction then I doubt it will be a disappointment. And of course being Bioware the story will be great.

People keep complaining about ME touches being used in DA2. I think its a good idea.
I like Mass Effect too, but that worries me. I want Dragon Age 2, not Dragon Effect 2. It may work, it may even kick ass, but i fear it won't feel like a sequel.
