Hi guys,
I'm playing the PC version of ME1 and halfway through my very first playthrough I'd started a second career and was told that I could pick a bonus biotic power since it's my second playthrough. Frankly I was stoked but I'd wanted to finish my existing career first, and so I went ahead and deleted that second character.
After I had done that, and during my first playthrough, the computer crashed (BSOD) literally seconds after I did a quicksave. After I rebooted and started the game however, the quicksave was corrupted and wouldn't load. Fortunately, I was able to load an earlier save a continue one from there. Furthermore, I went ahead and deleted the "Profile.MassEffectProfile" file and let the game rebuild it (which it did). From that point on, I was able to load and continue my game without problems.
However, now that I have finished my first playthrough, I wanted to begin a second character (i.e. start new career), but I've found that the game doesn't let me pick a bonus power, and instead treats my new character as if it's my first playthrough.
Any help would be appreciated!
No replay bonus after game crash (PC)?

In order to get the bonus powers, you first have to get the acheivements for them. Once you gain that acheivement, that power or weapon class is then opened up for all new characters.
ie: Lift 50 enemies to unlock Lift for all new characters. Kill 75 enemies with assault rifle to open up that weapon class.

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure I had unlocked lift as a bonus talent while I played as a vanguard. And like I said, I seem to recall being able to select it as a bonus talent before the crash. I guess I'll watch out for that specific achievement now that I'm in my second play-through. Thanks again!

That MassEffectProfile is where your achievements are stored. If you look in your achievements menu, I think you'll see they're all locked again. (Aside from any you've re-gained since it re-built the file.)
I'm pretty sure you can unlock them directly from console... yep, here's the page. (Look for the UnlockAchievement command in the table.)

Will using the console permanently screw up my profile to the point where ME2 won't allow me to import my ME1 character? I'm a bit tempted to get the Spectre armor, but it's only available through cheat...

No, using the console will have no effect on importing. I've used it many times to test out builds.
