But I will spoil ME3 as much as possible for myself. I want to know as much as possible so I can decide if I want to buy ME3. If I have to wait for months after the release of ME3 to make up my mind so be it. Nothing is an instant buy for me.

The marketing will be full of spoilers, blood and electric guitars.

Its more than just the marketing, it is the material that Bioware/EA allows the media to show....or the material Bioware/EA shows the media.
When Bioware brings in the media for hands-on demostrations or hands-off demostrations, Bioware can dictate what the media sees. Bioware can easily show off the dialog system, combat, exploration, and new gameplay features WITHOUT having to demostrate them during a crucial mission in the game. They can easily just goto a side mission and just show that to the media. So when the IGNs and Gamespots get back and write their articles/previews, even if they spoil what happened in their demostration, atleast it is a side mission being spoiled and not a core mission.
Thing is with Bioware, everytime they show something to the media it is ALWAYS a core mission like Wrex on Virmire in ME1, Eden Prime in ME1, Thane recruitement in ME2, destruction of the Normandy in ME2 and so on. They [Bioware] could have just chose a nice and unique N7 Mission(s) to show off the new interruptions and combat, but they rather go for the meat.
I guess my point is, if Bioware wants to show the media stuff, at least pick something that really has to real bearing on the overall story that way if the media does spoil something, they are spoiling a side mission and not a plot mission.
Again, this isn't just ME but all Bioware games where Bioware always shows the media core missions that can really spoil the game for the consumers..
-----------------------------
Look at what Rockstar Games did with Red Dead Redemption. There are tons of videos released about RDR and tones of articles written about RDR before release. I read nearly every RDR preview and watched all the videos and even after all of that, I NEVER felt like something was spoiled because Rockstar made sure that what they allow to be shown will be material that doesn't conflict with the core plot. Rockstar just showed off the enviornments, weapons, and things John Marston can do. When they did show combat footage, it was either just random gunfights in abandoned towns (side missions) or if it was something that had to do with the core plot, RDR never mentioned any details about what the fight was about and where it was at. With Bioware, they would have said "This fight takes place on such and such against such and such as Shepard was trying to find such and such but then such and such happened, and that is how we are getting into this gun battle"[i]. With Rockstar they just said [i]"This is John Marston fighting...." and left it at that which created a lot of mystery.
---------------------------
So it is more than just their marketing videos but it is the material that they show the press. If Bioware can tone down what they show then I'll be fine. I don't mind watching videos about Shepard fighting in side missions, but I don't want to see a bunch of videos and reading a bunch of previews showing/talking about core plot missions and what not. That should be saved for when we buy the game, not 8 months prior to release.
Please people, join the group so that we can show Bioware that this is an issue to a large amount of people.

It was still a good ad campaign to learn from since no pivotal cutscenes featured, little to no dialogue was featured either (might be unavoidable for a ME3 campaign but at least not pivotal dialouge for effs sake), the demos showed no pivotal points of the game, and by the end of the ad campaign nobody expected the plot twist.|AdmiralCheez wrote...

Bungie could advertise Reach very well without spoiling the plot, take a leaf out of Microsoft's advertising I say.
Problem is, everyone knew how Reach was going to end, anyway. Ah yes, "prequels."
Rockstar also had a very good advertising campaign for RDR. All just fighting, horse-riding, keeping away from pivotal cutscenes, and generally keeping away from the plot. Sticking to things like landscapes and gameplay.

Buddy, i was just trying to help the guy out. If he doesn't want to fix it, no problem. The banner just looks less serious when there is a spelling mistake, and i was under the impression that this campaign was serious-business

Ah forget about it. If someone doesn't want to ruin their internet vanity by having a mispelled word in their signature then don't worry about it. If they really cared about the issue (ME3 marketing spoilers) then they would support the banner.

Easy fix. Watch initial trailer and nothing else. /thread
It is not that simple. See, the issue is, I as a fan should not be hindered from visiting these forums. When the previews, videos, and related marketing starts to roll out, it WILL be discussed in these forums.
Lets use ME2 as an example. Say I did as you suggested and I just watched the initial trailer (the E3 2009 trailer) and NOTHING else. I did not watch any other trailer, video, or read any preview from any mag/website. But yet I still visit these forums, I would have secrets like Archangel being Garrus, the Normandy being destroyed in the beginning, the Lazurus Project etc etc etc....
Thing is, when people see/read something that excites them, they are going to run here and talk about it. So would you say that I should just watch the initlal trailer AND stay away from these forums until I have beaten the game?
If Bioware just controls their marketing material, there would be no issues because the stuff people dicuss here will be VERY VERY VERY minor stuff compared to the borderline major spoilers being talked about 6 months prior to ME2's release.

Also, they throw at us a lot of the squadmates that would be in the game; just another thing that helped to eliminate de surprise factor in Mass Effect 2.

You have my support; I, like you, was spoiled by that video of the Normandy blowing up. A great moment such as that one shouldn't be in marketing.

If it was up to me, I would have revealed half of the squadmates and keep the other half a secret to be explored by the gamer once he or she purchases the game. That is how it used to be back in the day with RPGs, you would probably know for sure atleast 2 of your squadmates/party members and the rest would be a surprise to you. Today it is like Bioware has to tell you about EVERYONE who is in your squad along with a minute long bio video of them and what not.
So say ME3 has 12 party members. I wouldn't mind knowing about 4 or 5 of them just to get the juices flowing. Anything more than that is just giving out too much. They [Bioware] even showed off too much of the plot NPCs like Aria for example.

Now with all words included!!
Grab one before they run out!!
How to use: just copy it, and paste it in any place you want to use.
note: Sometimes the "p" letter may try to escape,we don't take any responsabilities for stabbings, gunshots, deacpitations or any kind of injuries made by this word in it's escape attempt
