Mass Effect is still my all time favorite ever games, although the 1st one was the best in my opinion, just subtle little things like doing the armour and over you squad mates was better aswell, now its just change how they look :/
Most of all but this might sound daft, is i miss the old ME1 bullets, the proper bluey sci-fi laser bullets lol, where as in ME2 they where just like the dull GOW2 bullets :/
Another thing is was the music done by someone else in the 2nd one?
The 1st one sounds way better :/

Blue sci-fi laser bullets? Do you mean the trail that the bullet left behind it? Mass Effect's never had any laser weapons, apart from one heavy weapon I think.

Otherwise, I agree, the combat was very much improved in ME 2 but in the process lost a lot of content you'd sort of expect from an RPG, the inventory for example, wasn't so much simplified as almost completely taken out.

I just played ME1 again to remind myself about it, kinda wish I had not, saw things in ME1 that have been removed from ME2, features I enjoyed, like the elevators, standing on the citadel dock and admiring SR1, it seems ME2 got simplified as far as locations and interaction with the envoiroment, and although I like SR2, I miss the stairs and definitely preferred the old mass core engine style, the big bubble just don't do it for me.

I 100% agree with this thread.....We NEED the whole feel of the first game in Mass Effect 3.

It's basically what I've been preaching about. If anything needs to be modified for the third installment, it's this aspect. Where is the subtle background 80's Sci-Fi music??????? Where is the blueish tint that makes you feel like the galaxy is dreamy and amazing, where is the floating debris, the kind of slowed air that makes you anticipate some ambush or something.

Where is the intimacy? I felt like in Mass Effect 2, there wasn't enough down time to actually think about anything. It was more like: Here's 3 dossiers, go find them....oh, here's 3 more...go get em...oh help horizon....oh make sure teammates are loyal....oh do this and do that....no reflection like in the first game after every mission, and actually thinking with your teammates in an in-depth way like in Mass 1....

Don't get me wrong....I will love every Mass Effect game that Bioware puts out because I love the series...but Mass 3 will be that much better if it can instill the atmosphere of Mass1 into it. It will ultimately bring back the most Nostalgic feelings for me and I'm sure the majority of other players.

The soundtrack is done by the same person, he just went a different route in ME2. I love both soundtracks, but overall i think ME1's is better.

And i've read that ME3 will bring back more RPG features, that should bring back a kind of ME1 vibe if it comes to fruition.

I can groove with some points presented here and I actually didn't think I would. However, the armor (IMO!) has to stay ME2 style and the action to story balance needs to stay in the ME2 style.

*sigh* Strange sense of Deja Vú? It's not even worth debating anymore, since this thread'll drop down and someone'll make a new one. At least have some original ideas before making yet another demands thread? They're all the damn same.

gameplay is better in ME2, the bullets and reloads are better than ME1 stuff, but there is somethings that was better in ME1, I really prefer Elevators than Loadings, atleast Elevators where they make sense like in Normandy SR2, is really annoying watching a Load every time I want to talk to someone or to go to my room. Now to ME3 Bioware could still improve the gameplay making stealth matters and putting the cover system more like Splinter Cell where you can really run out of of enemys and cover putting one button to cover the closest object and other to run and jump objects and still, other to crouch, I dont understand why is there any in ME2.

in consoles there are buttons like R and L that do the same thing(map/point objective), they could use those buttons to Reload and crouch, then they would have a free button they could use to only cover and still mantain 3 maped buttons to powers.

I think we have different views on the word "demand"; I've not seen any demands in this thread, more like wishes.

When I first played ME1 I was in awe at what they achieved, so much depth, so much emotion, I for one am enjoying ME2 but sometimes(not often) I get the feeling of "The Sims" mixed with a straight up shooter, it's like they dumbed down the mature content(and I'm not just talking about the sex).

Not if it brings back the Mako, the awful combat mechanics, empty cookie cutter planets, overstocked inventory, samey items, armours I-X, unnecessary stat system, the old weapon overheating mechanic, slow loading textures and the "every NPC exits to Sheps left" syndrome.

Heh, its ironic how everything people complained about in ME1 and BW changed in ME2 people are complaining they took it out of. I'm not pointing fingers at any of you guys but rather speaking in general that some of the biggest complaints of ME1 were:

-The combat and weapon systems (specifically overheating, accuracy, sluggish cover system, inventory, lack of a kill all weapon aka heavy weapon, generic compounds and caves you would fight in, and the list goes on).

-The elevators vs loading screen and more importantly the post-mission debrief with the squad. The latter I think was what I missed the most from ME1, seeing all the squadmates sit down and hash it out while Shepard played referee and tried to make sense of the whirlwind that had become his life.

-As for the loading screens... they're shorter than the elevators that's for sure and after you've literally played through ME1 twenty plus times you tend to get bored of all the waiting. I wouldn't mind more ambient dialogues between your squadmates as you travel - much like how they did in Dragon Age. There was that one staircase where Garrus and Tali talked about the old elevators, it reminded me very much of some of the Miranda/Alastair bantering in Dragon Age. More of those triggers would help enrich the game without the need of waiting in an overly long loading screen or elevator just to catch some dialogue.

A good example of this was the LotSB DLC that got a 9.5 in reviews and just about everybody loved. Part of what made it so great was how Shepard and Liara kept up an ambient dialogue as they fought waves of the SB's agents. They basically took the dialogue you get from the ME1 elevator scenes and transplanted it into ME2's combat and exploratory scenes. Downside is that there will be a lot more lines of dialogue for the VAs to deal with but... =)

If the keep ME2 gameplay I'd be happy if they also added back some ME1 things. While I think ME1 had a better story, feel to the universe and immersive qualities I replay ME2 more often due to the better gameplay. There is only so many times I can say wow awesome story, but I never get bored of shooting someone in the face. And I consider myself primarily a RPG player, heck I am in 2+ table top games a week. But still story based things can only surprise you once. Or more accurately I can get into the same story only so often I need a bigger gap between game plays.

ME3 more like ME1, hell yea just keep the same model of me2 (combat, biotics, guns, armor)
Add in customizable party armors again.
More crew interactions, party banter, elevator rides.
Get rid of the mission complete tally screen, maybe add a holographic display accessible through a ships console.
More exploration similar to the mako planets more open.

edit: there was a thread with some cool pictures manips of mass effect 2 (heres one but not the one im thinking of)

There was no laser weapons in ME or ME2. They are the same bullets in each game :/

I would prefer more squad customization, more weapons, more parts for armour and bring back planet exploration.

But do not do another overhaul. The gameplay in ME2 was much more enjoyable, it just needs more tweaks, but it's on a better track then what we had in ME. Focus on the story and characters.

why ME3 be more like ME? I mean, I want EVERY game have its own identity, Mass Effect has one, and Mass Effect 2 has another, and Mass Effect 3 should have a different one

The only thing I liked more in ME1 was the main story as opposed to ME2 which was basically a collection of unrelated side quests.

I would be happy if they placed again more emphasis on the main story in ME3 while at the same time kept the ME2 improvements in gameplay more or less intact.

Honestly...good shooting mechanics can only bring you so far...

Most of you are forgetting that Mass Effect had done something that no other game had done before. It created something new and refreshing. When I played Mass 2....the aura of the series was gone. Sure...the characters/references/design and everything was there but........

The entire game was more like a myth, a legend that could be told to those who might believe it...nothing progressed but the action. Let's be real...the story didn't progress either. It was more a story of that guy in the days of the revolutionary war in America who shouted "The British are coming!" Except that he picked up some friends along the way to deliver the message. Get what I'm saying?

Mass Effect is all about the story and atmosphere. I don't know why people are drooling over the combat for the strength of mass effect 2. It should serve more like salt does to french fries. It's there on the side.

Now, I love Mass Effect 2 as do I 1. But if I were to choose between the feel of 1 or 2.....I would without a doubt choose 1. So, don't be bashing 1...because without it...none of us would be here discussing this wonderful series.

I don't want another overhaul, I want Bioware to focus on story and characters. The gameplay needs tweaks, the OP is pretty much asking for a overhaul that is not needed. I hated the gameplay in ME, it was dull and boring, it was the characters, lore and story that made me love the game, where with ME2 it was the lore, some of teh characters and gameplay that made me love the game.

Combine them all in ME3 and you will have one hell of a game. ME2 is praised for it's strong gameplay but criticized for it's poor writing, thus Biowaren eeds to put more resources into there writing.

I miss those days on the Normandy, with the soft, subtle music that pattered the back of your mind as you plotted your next move, deciding where to travel. I miss that 80's Sci-Fi feel.

Let Mass Effect 3 conclude the same way it ended...with a nostalgic feel overall, and the ultimate secrets revealed.

It was actually quite sad really at how much had been revealed of Mass 2...but in a way, so little of it HAD been revealed. I expected a great second act...but in my opinion, IT was average. Pick up a few friends...and...and...that's it? Like 4 Main Missions?! Are you kidding me?

I think that yeah....Mass Effect 2 DID improve on things....But it lost sooo much more.
