What a load of crock. I'm sorry, but that's just delusional talk right there. ME2 alone is a pure sign of attempting good one thing but detracting from another good thing, rather than attempting both.

This thread reminds me of that sound. lol.
I'm one of those folks who thinks certain aspects of ME2 suffered because of the revamp.
I speculate MP would have the same effect on SP in ME3.(Budget)
Can it be done? sure.
Do I think they should? not with the finale of this trilogy.

That money is better spent making great single player experiences. That said, even though I don't expect ME multiplayer (if it's created) to take off, I would enjoy a *split-screen* multiplayer spinoff. Having grown up and no longer having patience for XLive or PSN matchmaking, I do enjoy semi-annually blowing the **** out of aliens with my bro or friends.

YOU thought that a lot of the RPG facets that they removed were good things. The majority didn't seem to care.
You're confusing objective measures of quality with your subjective feelings between different options. But its not like you're going to stop being that this is the 100th thread you've dragged this tired argument into already.

But if it does come to pass, Bioware has to put in offline bots, that might make me change my mind about mp.

A co-op story mode would be terrible. It simply would not work.
However, a class-based multiplayer mode could have a lot of potential. With modes like deathmatch and capture the flag, a character progession system, and maybe even the possibility to play as other races, there's a lot of potential there.
Also, throw in something akin to Horde mode in Gears of War, where you take control of human survivors and attempt to hold out as long as possible against increasingly difficult waves of husks/geth/collectors/etc.

Trust in bioware. If they think they can do it well, and it will add something to the franchise, they'll do it. If they don't think they can do the mode justice, or it will detract from the game, they wont do it.

After seeing the trailer, I can see how MP could work as a separate part from the game. MP would all take place on earth before Shep arrives. I just hope the SP doesn't suffer for it.
I think that would be a great setting. Make it a separate Co-op campaign centered around Alliance resistance fighters using modified versions of the single player mechanics. It would let us expand the ME universe, let us play on Earth, and not have other players effect our Shepard's story.
They've already given us a perfect "Player 1" in "Big Ben" the sniper.

I love when people support their baseless proclamations. It just promotes such constructive discussion.

I'm pretty sure he meant co-op in Shepard's story (and I have my own arguments on why I think it would never worker earlier in this thread).

How did Ign see MP in the brief teaser? I assumed that the unknown sniper was showing us, the players, that the reapers have foot soldiers. Saving civilians doesn't exactly scream "multiplayer" to me.

But it doesn't have to be in Shepard's story. It could be a separate campaign.

A seperate action campagin (and I know for me, action is only one part of what I want in a ME game, atleast when it's in the main series and not a spinoff, though this is personal opinion, although I think not only me). And I would hate to have to play some multiplayer campaign to get story for the game (and making one solo and one multiplayer campaign is pretty resource intensive).

1) ME is a story about a Single hero shaping events around them that would overwhelm a lesser person. If you had two such people together they would fight for dominace and in the end it would harm both abilities to function.
2) They could go with the Fable 2 hireling concept but that is really boring for the second player as you are a faceless grunt a no one dancing in the shadow of greatness begging for someone to notice.
3) And assuming you are someone important then who would you be one of the many people shepard collects. then you still have the same problem of being a backround charecter for everything but fighting.
4) If you think that you could come up with a way for some sort of multiple shepard like charecter to play at the same time then I am all ears, but I will say that much like Alexander the great's empire after his death I think the game would fall a part.
