Why was the female elf archer cut?  From the developer animation she seemed to be a really tough and gritty type, that would have been interesting.

I think it's less a situation of the female elf archer being cut, and more that the animated sequences were only to provide some ideas and give a general feel they wanted in DAII.  They weren't developing the story or the characters, but just threw in a few ideas to make the animation work.

Isn't there a Lady Hawke at 3:08 too? Seems to me the body has rather feminine curves. But it could be that it's not Hawke at all and I'm way off. In any case you can't make much out of that scene.

Seems to be a woman, but it looks more like Cassandra to me.

so.......what's Cassandra doing sneaking around the dark alleys of Kirkwall?  Image IPBImage IPB

looking for hawke?

or looking for varric to look for hawke.:innocent:

that's interesting though.

I wonder if Cassandra is a contemporary of Hawke, meaning there's a chance that she and Hawke will meet.  or that she will somehow be present as Hawke "rises to power."

If Cassandra was there during Hawke's "rise to power", there wouldn't be any need for her to interrogate Varric about Hawke's ways.

Anyway, I can swear that I've heard Hawke's voice somewhere in Origins... Or, at least, I think. His voice reminded me of four different characters: Ser Gilmore, Ser Perth, Bann Teagan and that soldier at Ostagar near the bridge with whom you can talk about Ostagar.
But those are just my choices. It has been three months since I last played Origins, and I'm planning to make it at least a year before playing it again (though I'm afraid I have to run through the game again to create a import for DA2). Not gonna investigate if there's a character with the same voice.

...the whole concept of the party working properly as a 'team' to take enemies down rather than just a group of individuals.

It would be direct effects from using skills cooperatively, more than in Origins in knowing that using Sunder Armor followed by Flurry might do a bit extra damage because the enemies armor score is down.

That's precisely what I'm hoping for. It would be awesome. I want the game to provide an environment that fosters that kind of clever thinking.

Reading Dev posts in this thread, about tones of chosen "fluff" replies determining tone of "action/decision" replies, I have to ask: is it possible to actually use neutral tone? Not being specifically polite, or joking, or angry?

I am 100% sure now that male Hawke is voiced by Nicholas Boulton. Just as I expected :)

Is there like, a way for bioware to release just the concept art for Ulrich von Hawke? :P He looks so cool, I really would like to save that picture. Preferably in higher res

Fighting does look like Devil May Cry.

Hawke voice is good though, I wish It'd be Irish or Scottish but just because I wished for so does not mean I expected so.

Cartoon hawk has far too many hard features and doesn't look human. In game hawk does look human though. He looks like a mix of Dustin Hazelett and Andrei Arlovski. Personally I think default hawk has a ugly mug. The voice actor certainly took me by surprise. Sounds less masculine then I imagined it would be. Hawk looks like he has these big upper back muscles and reminds me of a silverback gorilla. He sounds like some yuppie not the man I imagined LOL.

I thought Ulrich actually looked pretty badass, more interesting that current hawke though I have no problems with how hawke looks really, he could have done with a bit of beard though.

I'm now torn between Isambard (pro'ly Isam) and Ulrich Hawke because of that.

Hmm.. so when's part 2 out?

FaceFX and facial expressions are one of the last things we add, because of the possibility that something will change and then we'll have to spend twenty minutes grumbling and cursing as we adjust the 'angry' emotion just so in order for it to look okay.

I see Hawke seems to be suffering from Bioware face syndrome in the video.

He probably has it tied back in a ponytail. I wouldn't worry.

Why do people keep saying he looks like Anders? He doesn't even REMOTELY look like Anders to me.  What are you people seeing that I'm not?

*made slight correction, because if your gonna do it, you gotta do it right* :D

Hope we can have double barrel first names so that players CAN be Ulrich Von Hawke if they want, not that am biase or anything ;)

Absolutely freaking outstanding, bioware this looks like the best rpg ive ever seen, i cannot wait and wish people in video comments would stop hating because the combat isn't following the chess/dice roller crap that it always has.

Glad to finally see some actuall gameplay, even if it was short but sweet, loved how the enemies look now and how they dismember and heads fly everwhre, it really is awesome.

Also cant wait to see the spell where hawk uses 2 giant hands to rip apart enemies :D

It looks absolutely outstanding and perfect for dragon age, not to mention how brutal it looks, i just got DAO Ultimate and am still playing it and will keep playing it until this masterpiece arrives.

I'm really liking male Hawke's voice. I love developer diaries... can't wait to see the next one... maybe we'll get to hear Lady Hawke's voice. *crosses fingers*
