We're not saying it's not him, we're saying the assumption that it is him isn't well-founded. We're not objecting to the conclusion but the premise leading to the conclusion; and it is very characteristic of fans to want to make sense of anything and everything. Personally I don't give a damn if it is him, save that it strikes me as a bad design choice.

there's the possibility that this happens before awakening. seeing aveline in her "apron" also suggests that this scene takes place early in the game.

Theres pictures of Carver in Kirkwall too so its just as likely he's a companion.

Ohgren could die, or at least leave, yet he can come back. Heck, my Warden sacrificed himself to the blight & it didn't take
