Hawke isn't just a commoner.  Hawke is the child of an apostate mage and a noble family from Kirkwall, with at least some magical ties in their blood.  S/he may have been raised in Lothering, but with a more elevated education.

exactly, i would expect hawke's mother to be strict with his education.

Y'know, we really need to get people out of the mindset that Hawke is Thedas' equivalent of Cletus Spuckler.

See the difference?
Just because the man was raised in Lothering doesn't mean he can't have had a proper education.

Wow, so it is Vaughan. Man, somebody called it like 2 months ago when the devs dropped the "character people didn't like" hint.

The fact that he's an apostate to me makes the accent kind of eh. He would've been raised around other commoners and as such most likely would've sounded like them. And if it was just him and family that would be A. Boring and B. Odd.

Alistair grew up around nobles and eventually templars he wasn't farming.

Clearly the only voice actor suitable for Man Hawke is Gerard Butler.

NO WAY he is within BioWare's budget. :)

Yes!  Another convert to the Silent Protagonist camp.  If we can't have Gerard Butler, then we shouldn't have anyone!  And BioWare can put those forty hours back in the game.

There's no reason to assume that he'd be uneducated even if he was a poverty stricken peasant. This is a highly literate society with books in almost every home, and more in the chantrie that seem to be available to all.

Oh my god Hawke sounds like a douche.

Funny, cause that guy played a huge douche in origins.

God,

I don't like it at all. He sounds like a noble doucher.

Or maybe it will be better when they put the facial expressions in for Hawke as he talks. But I do LIKE Isabella, and she was a babe.

I remember they said they changed Isabela's voice from Mika Simmons to someone else to "reduce confusion."
Well In that case why not get some new guy to voice Hawk instead of Vaughn Urion in order to, in their own words, 'reduce confusion?'

Unless Queen Anora is in DA2 and they didn't want the same voice for two characters.... well if that's the case why did sir Bryant and Vaughn Urion have the same voice?

Because Anora was a major NPC, unlike Vaughn.

They don't want two major NPCs to have the same voice. Bryant and Vaughn were two minor NPCs. Hawke is the PC.

I kind of assumed it was him after a while. I actually liked Vaughns voice, just not Vaughn.

As of yet, I thought the voice worked. I mean like folk said, he is of noble blood, I would think his mother's influence would bleed through.

And I reckon it makes him sound dignified.

Not too crazy about what I heard in the video but it was only a few seconds so I'll wait.

I wish more people would be like you and not go ape**** over five seconds of him speaking.

I'm sure female Hawke's VA is as competent for the role as male Hawke's is. :)
