I agree wholeheartedly. Minigames shouldn't be exempted entirely from the game, but they shouldn't be nearly as prevalent as they were in ME2. Every time I wanted to open a door or crate, I had to do the same exact matching game I'd done a million times before.
MINIGAMES: do we need them?

Some more gambling games could be fun to see. Maybe a card game or two for the ME Universe.
Quasar was OK, but it definitely wasn't on the same level as Pazaak from KotOR.

Playing Poker with Kenneth, Gabby and Tali...
Really wish they had allowed us to actually play it. Sure give the option to skip it and gain the results but would be fun to allow us chance to play too.
As for the other mini-games I like them.
As for AP's games, erm, one of them was in ME2. It was just displayed differently. That then leaves you with the other 2 AP had, one which wouldn't befitting in a sci-fi setting (the lock-pick one) and the other was annoying as hell (the numbers/letters one) though that was mainly due to the ******-poor implementation of what controls were used to navigate it.
As someone said earlier, maybe more scenarios like the YMIR mech and also the platform puzzle in Overlord. It would also be kind of neat to offer multiple paths through things, whereby accessing pads and doing the minigames opens 'backdoors' through areas, so people can either go for a more stealthy approach to a all guns blazing through the front door approach. Kind of like Kasumis loyalty mission at the start.

First off, the two minigames you are claiming to be the same are not. The one in AP is follow the line, while the ME2 one is a match the pairs game, the first requires good eyesight the latter is a memory game, very different. Second, once I got the hang of the hacking minigame I had no problem with it, despite having to use mouse and keyboard, seemed easy enough. As for lockpicking, I see no reason why it can't be used in a futuristic setting, just change the graphics so that the lockpick looks futuristicky if need be, it's only meant to be a abstract representation anyway (you aren't hacking doors by matching up pairs for real as it is).
As others have said, the minigames in AP were challenging but they gave you decent rewards for doing so, whereas the one in ME2 was not and did not provide enough reward to make the time spent on them feel worthwhile. We're not saying they should copy AP's minigames, but that AP's minigames were challenging and rewarding while often presenting the player with the opportunity to take a more stealthy approach in many cases and that we'd like ME's minigames to be on that level. If some people find the minigames too hard as a result, I'm sure they could do something similar to AP's method of allowing players to use grenades to bypass them (which was pretty much the same as the omni-gel in ME1 in fact, so it wouldn't even be a case of copying AP).
Or just bring back the Mako. I'd be happy with the Mako, very happy. Brm brm!
